@@lukascanter just got one. It's a very nice car for the price, but it's filled with eletronic devices. You feel like you're in a sportscar. Drives ok, performance is so so. It's a good buy
I have a 328xi 2011 and I test drove the 2016 428i and honestly with no bias. To me BMW is marketing these cars as more efficient etc etc but in reality they are a cheaper build and a higher profit margin for BMW. It's cheaper to produce 4 cylinder engines and just slap on a turbo than to produce a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder. Driving the 428 felt wavy and underpowered. I even drove the m235 which had good power but felt a little too small and boxy. Kinda go cart like. I am sticking with my 328 for now. Maybe the will release something that looks better in design and performance.
cooley forgot to mention how the trunk area is different from a 3 series since it opens like a hatch and the trunk connects to the back seats for longer loads and the 4 series also comes as a "grand coupe" meaning it's no longer a coupe it's a 4 door. I would like to know if it comes with any stronger engines.
Every one on UA-cam sucks for car reviews I love cnet car reviews I'm trying to find one for the 2014 bmw 328i so far all I found are crap cnet never did one for the sedan
I love this car but are BMW and German cars in general really that mechanicaly unreliable as people say they are? How far are they from the likes of Acura and Lexus in terms of that?
n0deification it's just BMW following the law in order to bring their car here. Either you have the reflector there or it goes inside your headlight on the side turn signal with that amber. Some coupe owners just change out the reflector to a body colored one because the amber reflector isn't regulated.
My 2015 428l is leaking oil at 29k miles. Lover pan gasket is leaking oil and oil filter housing gasket is leaking oil too. My warranty expired a month ago, and I got bill at BMW's dealership $2200 This is common issue with 328 and 428 oil gaskets failing after some time. Buy extended warranty or stay away from this car.
I have over 80,000 on my 2014 328i and don't have that issue, or, for that matter many issues. MMI head unit crashed, but replaced aftermarket vs dealer, and did timing chain replace ahead of Class Action Suit, and compensation from BMW is pending. Otherwise, just normal stuff.
@@fldon2306 youd think at this point BMW would have fixed the gasket issues permenantly with the new cars, because its been a problem since the 90s at least, and they wonder why people end up going with whatever japanese/korean brand alternatives instead for the pricepoint even though im sure most people would rather have a BMW, but they know its a pain to fix so it drives them away.
That's because they want to sell GT, Tourer, Convertible, Coupe, Gran Coupe, and good old sedan. 6 body styles in one "series" are too confusing for developing markets: aka Russia, China, and India.
428i's are NOT twin turbo they have a twin scroll single turbo. Meaning it spools faster than a regular turbo. The engine code is BMW N20. "The N20 features a twin-scroll turbocharger, double-VANOS (variable valve timing), Valvetronic (variable valve lift), direct injection, automatic stop-start[2] and an electric water pump."
Just purchased this car for my daughter’s first car! 10 years old and still is like a dream! She’s so happy! Great review!
i’m about to get this for my first car. how is it??

Almost went with one of these but wanted 4 doors and ended up getting Mercedes CLA 250, love it so far not as fast though but still great overall car
The 428i coupe is the new E30. Bet it will become a classic.
Nice car, but the silver color makes it look so boring!
Even the silver 458 Italia in the background in 3:40 looks boring.
Great review. Thank you.

What did you end up getting?
I ended up with a Porsche 911 C4S

***** The trunk opens like a trunk, not a hatch. You're thinking of another car.
Chris Sorreda no the glass goes up with the lid unlike a 3 series where the glass is static.
+jump oricakle you're thinking of the gran coupe, not the coupe. The coupe has a traditional trunk the 4-door gran coupe has a hatchback
What an awesome review!

For 2016 it's a smart mpg gauge
Good review.
Is n't turbo more likely to have problem with wear and tear on parts and earlier failure over the car's lifecycle?
WHY DO U UPLOAD CNET ONCARS IN ONE FULL SHOW THEN LATER IN THE WEEK BREAK IT UP? Not cool! WE NEED MORE FREQUENT REVIEWS

is there 428i without xDrive?!?
THX!
Yh
Yes. I have one.
3400 pounds seems a bit lardy for a 4 cylinder.
Boring inside design doesn't match the aggressive and really good looking outerior
The M-Package is a must have for this car
The outgoing e92 3 series coupe is much better looking in the front end. I love my 335i so much. The new 4 series is still cool, though.
Why it hasn't fog light?
WHAT????

52k , 2 much ? I think is kinda decent taking in mind all the xtras... hope top price range has leather upholstery n stuff....
Oh shit Cooley just caused the comments section to explode.lol!!!

Or fix it yourself. All the gaskets are $60 total. Why pay $2200?

I just can't comprehend why this car is 52K. I can barley comprehend (but barely accept) a 435 at the price, let alone a 435.
The m235i is the best option. The new 435i is like a 6 series now.
Ooooold comment but with how "budget" (nice way of putting it) the car looks the starting MSRP should have been 35k at most
Pssshhhtt...i'd rather spend 52k on a C7 Vette
Just strap the kids to the roof.
this is a good daily driver. especially the xdrive
not Car Tech anymore?
wow, almost didnt notice, nice
That ferrari 458 italia at 3:40 ~.~
Nope. I still think it should have been called the 3-series coupe.
I completely agree, but I'm just happy they even released it

Twin scoll

Twin scroll power turbo, unless you accidently bought a rebadged M4
I love my car 😍 4series convertible
Get the 6 cylinder it lasts longer
Want to last longer....use Viagra.....
anyone else think the 3 series coupe looked better?
