Funnily enough, this is one of my favorite versions of Megolavania I think I’ve heard, even with all of its flaws.
Imagine being Toby. Imagine having the world on a string. You manage to create one of the most ever expanding and ongoing fandoms. You manage to create one of the best video games the year it came out, reaching worldwide acclaim, only for you to describe it as nothing more than a beta test for an even larger project. To have had the most famous song from the game cover more times than most pop song. To have said song and an favorite character to be represented in Smash Bros. To ride in Sakurai's car whole listening to Smash music. To play against him and win. To manage to help out several other projects and include your music. To have an song you made for an official Pokémon release to reference a Homestuck M-Preg Fan Fic Rock Opera song you made years before. To have your game be given to the pope and to have that ever-beloved song played in front of him while clowns juggle.
How the fuck to you have the world in the palm of your hand and go to sleep knowing that at any moment you could very well take over and nobody would bat an eye. How.

The fact that Megalovania is a song only played in the GENOCIDE route in Undertale makes this even stranger. Sure, it's a popular meme song, but it's also a song played for murder. So, playing it for the Pope seems... questionable.

And when I Googled it, apparently MatPat gave the Pope a copy of Undertale in 2016, and they think that might be why. I didn't even know MatPat even met the pope, but apparently he did, and gave him a steam code for Undertale.
