    "That was a little Chinese piece called 'Tu Ning' . . . " Somewhere, maybe in his Rick Beato interview (my favorite) Tommy Emmanuel speaks to the value of "surprise" -- in "reaching out" to your audience and grabbing us by the heart (and funny bone). No two of his shows are completely alike. Even the set list. Tommy has a keen ear for what is happening in his audiences -- what they need to hear from him "here and now." It's a gift, and another reason why Tommy Emmanuel is the greatest ever 'showman' on six-stringed instruments.

    The first time saw this concert I was still a child and it made such an impression on me, i'll never forget it. Now, revisiting this after many, many years, it brought back that same feeling of awe.
    Thank you for all your hard work and brightening this world with your otherworldy playing. You're forever an inspiration!

    I was lucky to see Tommy in concert at the Sheldon with my late father and aunt, several years backs It was one of the best birthday gifts I ever received, a lifetime of inspiration in one evening. Thanks for gracing the Sheldon and St. Louis through the years Tommy! Love to you and your family

      Funny how music can do that, isn't it? Especially 'live' and in-person performances, in this case when you're watching in awe, the greatest showman in the history of six-stringed instruments. He knows how to 'surprise' his audiences, how to reach out and grab us by the heart and funny bone! Long may he reign as King of Guitarists! Amen.

    If I didn't know better I'd say 'What a coincidence!' I was just imagining Tommy Emmanuel playing “The Girl Next Door” how he might make it all his own. For now, the retire the trophy version is still the 1956 recording by George Van Epps, inventor of the 7-string guitar made famous by the father and son team of Bucky and John Pizzarelli. But you knew that.
    I'm humming favorite songs from the Judy Garland musical “Meet Me in St. Louis" ('Louie, meet me at the fair!') and what pops into view on my computer? Tommy Emmanuel will be my belated birthday gift next March 26. A Wednesday night. At Winnipeg's Burton Cummings Theater. “Get tickets from Ticketmaster” for this, Tommy's third appearance in Winnipeg. I take a little credit for his first, a decade ago.
    I pestered Mr. Emmanuel for years to include “the world's coldest city” among his 300 dates per year. Not just the greatest showman, but the busiest virtuoso guitarist in the history of show business! All my other finger-style heroes would agree with those superlatives!
    Oh yes -- above this video notice is the name “The Sheldon” a theater in St. Louis. Google to learn “The Sheldon was designed by the noted 1904 World's Fair architect Louis C. Spiering and built in 1912 . . . “

    Wow!!! Sir, a question from a beginner side. That what to do with a high action guitar especially a branded acoustic one... Should we consider buying a new one or stick to that one hoping that the pain will improve the playing😅😅. Because often times buying a newer one is not affordable..

    • @pietrodellarocca7629
      @pietrodellarocca7629 2 місяці тому +3

      English isn't my main language, sorry for mistakes, but I'll try to answer to your question: on many guitars you can move the guitar neck with a screw to adjust the action. Hope it helps you.

    • @bencalebcgp
      @bencalebcgp 2 місяці тому +1

      Low action, good guitar

      You’d think that every decent guitar would come set up. Maybe yours isn’t. Bridge saddle or nut too high?

    • @srjii
      @srjii 2 місяці тому +3

      Ask the local guitar shops for a recommendation for a good guitar tech. They can often lower the action by adjusting the truss rod, lowering the bridge saddle and or the nut. You can try to do this yourself if you have patience and a few simple tools. There are bunches of UA-cam videos on how to do this yourself. There are factors about your guitar that may prevent them from getting it very low The are geometry issues that can't be addressed by the three things I mentioned which is commonly referred to as a "setup". I hope this helps. Play on. Guitar is the best!

    • @namfingerstyle8403
      @namfingerstyle8403 2 місяці тому +1

      There 3 ways to lower the action. Dont need to buy new one.
