I used to play fixed caps in this map thinking that was a great way to rank up but I was wrong. Now that I ranked all the way up thanks to your prog cap videos I thought you were going to apply similar strategies from classic to here like: keep bot behind you card block when the trades are enough, etc. But it looks like in your experience the bonuses are strong enough to overturn those strategies.
totally. this map is very prone to snowballing and ive only ever bot farmed successfully in one game I played ever
The pink player not knowing how to play caps and the blue player thinking that killing the red bot for cards when the trades are at 6 and failing also helped a lot haha.
I think if the game went on long enough pink could have won the 1v1 if he was better from the middle cap alone
Well played! Seems to me like every game on this map is going to revolve around the position you wound up in though. The one-point hold for 12 troops seems wildly OP....
Yes this map does have an RNG component with the spawn, my spawn was great lol

I love this map and I think 4 players is ideal for it.
5 isn't bad also. 6 can be absolutely nuts. I played a game once where 4 people in a 6 player game all capped in the same bonus, lol

Try this map, prog, caps, fog, no alliance, and 6 players. 4 of them will be in those 2 bonuses. 1 where blue took, and 1 where pink should have capped but didnt
Those are the exact settings I used to grind lol. I’ve seen 5 players capped in the bottom left before. Hilarious stuff
At 28:06, I'm wondering why you didn't move the whole stack forward to prevent him from taking that card and basically trading cards with you?
Or was the idea just that you had so many more troops and bonuses that you could easily win without having to worry about cardblocking?
Yeah the latter, the sets were still low and I had such a fat position i just took the throw my weight into them approach rather than card blocking

I think it would have been better if you consolidated the deep 2 onto the one closest to the red bot, leaving a 2 behind your 3 so that you would be less likely to get the bonus broken.

You actually ranked up with this?? Going first with a good cap spot is best case scenario, but you played it perfectly. I would love to see more of this, when you don't have such a good spawn and position. It certainly looks like bonuses matter a ton, and aggressive plays to secure them are worthwhile, so it couldn't be more different from classic caps. Do you play 6p? Is it hard to fill the lobby? I'm intrigued, even though I can't play any Risk right now.
I did rank up with this, but there was a TON of variance in the process and it was an INSANE grind. I was a bit naive back then, lol
Off topic - tried bot farming from Kamchatka with Siberia and China blizzards. Bot would only take one card at a time. Maybe because it was always touching my stack.
Yeah that is most likely the reason, bot glue can kill a card farm. Also two cap farms like China --> Kamtchatka are more prone to being broken through since you have to guard two caps instead of one

Dude lots of people hate this map, but it is popular, there always seems to be an Alcatraz lobby in the list

And are you able to just against bots?
I've never seen this type of map in Risk before - reminds me of the old Rebelstar maps from when I were but a lad.
Hi Bob! Yes this can be played on Steam. You can also play the game on mobile through the app stores, but your attack speed will be slow with the touch controls. And yes you can play a non-ranked game against bots only!
If it's a bot, fine. I hate when people need world dom after I come off cap to let them win.
there's no reason to dislike this, it doesn't change anything for you. I do it for practice, because in tournaments you need to be proficient at getting the world dom victory as that will get you an extra bounty
@@digitallic if you're quick, ok. But I'm talking about noobs that take 3+ turns to do it. I can't play another game until the other player finishes. I'll wait 30 seconds, but not 2 minutes.
Honestly i’m sure you were trying to be careful as practice , but it very much felt like you were purposefully not doing any damage to the pink player at the end.
Felt super stretched out, you could have easily broken their bonus on top with two rounds of cards and taken that cap before the bonuses started getting big enough to let them even attempt to capture your capital.
I was purposefully not taking territory off pink because I was maintaining my ability to card block them, which is the proper way to close a progressive caps 1v1. Breaking your opponents bonuses is generally unnecessary and a lot of times, counter-productive. It turns out I didn’t need to card block my opponent because they kept wasting their reinforcements slamming that one capital turn after turn, lol.
i would consider increasing ther framerate of your camera because sometime you look blurry.

It seems like most games have a bot.. how are you supposed to get practice for tournaments? Playing around a bot is totally different than sane humans.
you can join non-ranked games on the Risk discord server that are specifically for tournament practice. Also, a lot of tourney games do end up with a bot as well, so practicing dealing with AI in the game does have some value there
