    I like finding differences between your style and mine. I would have kept a 20 stack next to your old cap at 15:03, signalling to white 'I am going to take this next turn regardless'. White was only going to get 5, maybe 6 a turn. You would have been in position to hit him and from there maybe stopped red together with the help from green. You might have also been able to eat white for cards.

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  Рік тому +2

      What would white do in that case?
      Hit the 20 because he has to. Then I have my bonus and two unguarded caps behind it if he gets a good roll

    He botted because he lost his cap. Losing two troops a turn plus likely not being able to hold whatever bonus you were in is surefire death, so might as well give up immediately.
    I find masters+ more likely to give up turn 1 on high bonus games like this because they're like "there is no way I can win"

    Hey, I liked this one. You also made a few mistakes here because of the caps where already known to exist in certain areas, but you probably forgot about them and re-opened them at the end there, which made you easier to kill. I don't know if there was a way for you to win, but you tried your best

      Having rewatched the end several times. You’re right. If he’d got in a trading battle with red at the end, he would have slowly out generated red. And I mean SLOWLY. They had the same amount of bonuses secured behind caps. But Pete was able to hit first. Would been an epic battle. Cards and good rolls would be the determining factor for both of them.

    Just discovered your channel a few days ago and may have been bingeing a ton of videos in the last few days. Been ages since I played Risk in any amount - back in high school, we had a group that did it at a coffee shop on a regular basis and it's a fun nostalgia hit.
    I definitely prefer these fog of war and blizzard games - feels like without fog of war, things are too deterministic and it's in everyone's best interest to NOT be the first to act cause they will also be destroyed immediately thereafter, and then it turns into a slog of no one acting. I like how the blizzards give fun corners to hole up in and make the map more of a strategic choice every time.
    Question for you on this game: why did you hole up in the center of Launch Pad C for so long? I feel like it would have been more advantageous to do a one point hold on all your territory from the top of terminal B, which would have given you more bonuses to have a stronger force while red was still fighting it out with green. Could also position you for moving forward to taking Launch Pad B and Mare Nubium and holding from the middle of Terminal A on one point, which would give you the advantage on bonuses and let you choke out red?

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy

      For example in the last week or so I learned from you that placing second is good and I placed second in a match I was bound to lose but made a risky play to place second due to the knowledge that placing second is good rather than potentially suiciding into first place to hope the whole map goes against him and doesn't just eat me as the fish

    • @friendli29
      @friendli29 Рік тому

      @@dylandryden6525 The rank points you get also depends on your current rank and the rank of the people you win against/lose to. Honestly, I feel like the best thing you can do is find a game mode/settings that you really like and are comfortable with, and master that game mode. For me personally, I really enjoy progressive expert zombies. Theres a few simple mistakes you can make which I see even highly ranked players make that can cost you the game, so I've managed to get myself to expert relatively easily playing mostly on those settings. Also, im pretty sure you only get FFA rank points from world domination?? (including zombies). I could be wrong about that.

      @friendli29 Рік тому

      @@dylandryden6525 I think so. Again not totally sure, but I believe that the higher your rank, the more rank points you will lose for losing to beginner/novice/intermediate players anyway. And you’ll get less rank points for beating them. So maybe setting up games with intermediate or expert as lowest rank might serve you best

    I play a lot of fixed caps and on the big chokey maps it goes really quick with fog on. People get so big and you have no way of stopping them. When playing in tourneys I would recommend manual placement over auto as Fixed/Caps/Fog/Blizzards is 100% luck of the draw on the choke point maps. Think Eu advanced, Spaceport, ect. Most the fixed games I play with those settings are over before turn 10.

    Nothing ever good comes from it, and I’ve yet to see a single game where it’s successful. Once you lose your card-taking exterior positions, it becomes a stackfest fuckfest typically leading to a Hail Mary trying to take the neighbor cap, essentially serving both caps on a silver platter for another player🤷🏻‍♂️

      I might have hoped to sit at the one point guard out from your cap after a few turns, slowly gaining territory count on him. Of course that hinges on breaking the south east bonus, and the other player not prioritising territory count and poor reinforcement / placement

      He could only do that if he had a linked fortify though.
      I'm not sure you would see that on a master/GM game - you see it in random any rank games, sure.
      Doing that to someone who has the last to act bonus is very dangerous and can destroy their game on turn one too.

    • @aryans309

      @@paulpratt6207 I am talking about the very first turn paul, if red player put all of his 6 troops on the 3 next to pete's cap and hit it.
      9 v 4 Caps balanced blitz is 79% Odds. I would have seen Pete's weak cap next to my 3 can chosen a strong cap myself so I don't sink my game even if I loose the roll.
      I'd say it's correct to take those odds unless you have a better play than starting with two caps.
      Either way if you agree with me or not. It was most definitely a risky play by Pete to chose that weak cap.

    • @paulpratt6207
      @paulpratt6207 Рік тому

      @@aryans309 it would be incredibly bad play from red for a few reasons (unless he has a strong hidden fortify stack, but even that's risky).
      1. Pete not fortifying his bonus can mean multiple things to red. He could have captured a bonus or he could have captured another cap. Pete has 5 troops to start with at the very least next turn, which would mean likely ruin reds game when he recaptures.
      2. Red not fortifying/strengthening his own bonus just for a 70% chance of taking another cap with an incredibly weak guard puts him weak in two places.
      3. Red has no visibility past the cap, Pete (or another player) could have a 3+ stacking sitting right behind the cap.
      It's simply not a move a high ranked player would play.
