Love how the flashbacks imply that Fitoria possibly got as strong as she is (and likely became queen because of it) due to the influence and training she received under a previous shield hero. If that’s really what happened, that’s an amazing continuity and says a lot about Filo’s own potential!
It's also quite sad when you realize that Filo will probably outlive Noafumi and everyone else she cares about, and will even forget them since Filolials have short memories. Yes, she'll become possibly the most powerful being on the planet, but she'll lose everything else.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 I'm pretty sure it's implied that the Filolial Queens don't have memory issues perhaps more normal for normal filolials. Fitoria clearly remembers the previous Shield Hero without much difficulty.
@@Skyfighter64 She does have trouble remembering him though. She can remember bits and pieces and feelings, but she says that filolials have short memories when she can't remember more.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 the may not be a fair assessment on her part, given how many centuries she's lived.
@@Skyfighter64 That still means Filo most likely will forget Naofumi after enough time has passed. Whether the queens also have short memories or have regular memories but enough time will erase them anyway, Filo will still forget Naofumi in time.
Filo did really well for being like 2 months old going up against the oldest and strongest Filolial in existence.

OK, this is probably a weird thing for me to focus on, but let's look at the score now:
Naofumi and Filo both broke the gear the Blacksmith (I don't know his name off the top of my head) gifted them.
Raphtalia still has both her metal and mana swords intact and functional...
...I wonder who the Blacksmith likes best at this point.
(edit) I like that they gave Fitoria those quick flashbacks. Really makes her appear more human and sympathetic by reminding us that she is a good person even if she might take her duties a bit too serious at times.
If I were the blacksmith I definitely go the extra mile for Raphtalia, not that I would do a shoddy job for Naofumi
@@schris3 Yeah... he knows them well enough to know Naofumi isn't being reckless with his gear. Raph might be getting that extra mile in service, though.
Also he didn't know Filo would use her mid-tier equipment in an all-out magic attack I assume, would've made them out of more durable materials had he known that. And I don't even remember what the thing on Naofumi's shield was supposed to do, it broke immediately.
Raphtalia broke one of her sword prior to get the two other swords
plot twist: the thing he gave Naofumi was just some scrap metal that happened to fit over the shield's gem

This scene was my favorite scene in the entire first season. When the Filolial Queen has that flashback to the Shield Hero of her era, it was just the perfect amount of feels for me.
That was one heartwrenching trial passage. Especially Filo's last stand with that meek little punch.
Not gonna lie, kinda liked that end to the trial better over the simple flick Fitoria gives Filo in the manga version.

@Jer Snipes yeah I could understand where you're coming from the show kinda just makes it so naofumi is always in the right and everyone else is always fucking up. Honestly if your a lightnovel reader you should pick up a book of this series instead I think the writing for it is a lot better and you get all the subtle details that you miss or they left out in the anime.

It's adorable how proud Raphtalia and Naofumi were of Filo after the attack! Filo may have wanted Naofumi as her mate at one point but the reality is she'll always be like a daughter or little sister to him and I think she's mostly come to the same conclusion.
I mean, iirc at the end of the web novel he had a mortal fragment of himself marry and have descendants with: a mortal fragment of Raphtalia, Melty, and Sadeena, and he almost certainly was Filo's mate, another mortal fragment of himself on Earth marry: another mortal fragment of Raphtalia and a copy of Atlas. So... One day, perhaps. This day, no.
Congratulations young Filo, you have found the will to truly fight with all of your being. May that strength aid you as you protect all that you love and hold dear in your heart.
OhKami is a so epic and amazing song. I hope that authors use it more in the next new series.

One is in love with Itsuki (Rishia), two are children (Filo and Melty), another is in love with Ren, the other is too focused on Swordfighting to even consider dating, one of them is a Raphumi shipper herself and her sister just tries to one up her when she flirts with Naofumi, one is too focused on her job as a scientist and the last one was in love with someone that died.
Oh and let's not forget about Glass, who is revealed to be a leasbian (or Bi at the least)

@@Exalt3d as in, look at where his ripped cape and her hair meets, then follow straight up and down. Its a common trick to save time and money, where they splice 2 similar stances together, with some overlap to hide the illusion.
Naofumi: Tells Filo to watch her attacks carefully to be able to dodge.
Filo: Immediately after finishes the fight by rushing in and attacking her barrier directly, not waiting for any attacks or dodging at all.

It’s really interesting to me that both shield heroes used the line お前ならできる omae is considered an honorific in the olden days it originally meant “front” which is why it had an honorific o attached to the word. It basically was to appear before the emperor or the honorable front of the emperor…these days it’s a derogatory 2nd person pronoun usually used by males with their close friends to someone that is equal or lower status then them which makes this really interesting…because he’s telling Filo he knows that she can do it, basically putting her on the same level as him…it’s a really touching moment…
