I love that image of a poker game. I use it but from a different perspective. I was never very good at poker, I played for the camaraderie. But there comes a time during the night that it is clear who the big winner is and who the big loser is and everyone else has won a little or lost a little. At that point, all that is to be decided then is how much the big winner wins and how much the big loser loses. I think in Salvation History that point came on the cross, revealing God as the big winner and Satan as the big loser. Individual souls are the chips that are now "up for grabs" as Satan tries to minimize his loss.
So true-The Evil One works so hard to minimize his loss!
