It's fun for what it can be but at the moment I still think it could have been better
Especially with the combat there's character depth I don't find myself needing to use like timing and button combos because it's easier to mash
I hope they add a mode where it's more than enough to need to mix up your playstyles

Coz they dont rely on outsource production for their ost... Their soundtrack is consistently good across all games. The problem of over reliance on other company can be seen in wuwa case, when pgr relied too much on vanguard for good osts but wuwa didn't the ost just ended up being bad.

The game is not terrible, I think not having a guaranteed weapon banner is a missed opportunity, I think hsr has a better battle pass structure, it is very early so the game has room for growth, I hope that characters that appeal to me more come to the game, I hope that those who like it continue to like it and those that don't find something else to play.

I think because its an Instance Based Gacha game like HI3 or PGR it's definitely a different audience. I agree with your take on combat. The combat only seems bad and simple because the enemy isn’t doing much when in reality there’s a lot of stuff you can do. Being able to mash through the early game seems to be an issue with all gacha but I’m expecting zzz to increase the difficulty as time goes on.

    • @gabrielecorti2271
      @gabrielecorti2271 Місяць тому +25

Yeah when i got to fight the end of chapter bosses it was very clear the issue lies in the enemies, the bosses were really fun but regular enemies with the exception of a few outliers just stand still.
They just need to pump up enemies aggressiveness and problem solved

    • @bigfootisreal_
      @bigfootisreal_ Місяць тому +7

I hope the difficulty increases as well.
But considering that the "challenge mode" you choose at the start of the game only means enemy has more hp and damage says something.
To me that says that's their definition of "challenge".
From my experience I'd say the enemy aggro in zzz is lesser than even GI.
They need to tone that up, but I doubt they will.
At its current state I'd say the game is pretty easy and can finish everything by just button mashing.
So most people will incline to that and might even get bored because they don't NEED to improve or learn the different mechanics.

    • @nerio1227
      @nerio1227 Місяць тому +25

After around level 26 I unlocked hard mode and was kind of pleasantly surprised that the enemies were actually doing something and packed a punch. I think the base game is just made to progress on your leisure but to have something challenging you have to go find it on your own in other modes. Reminds me a bit with WW and holograms, where the game itself is easy as hell but holograms are the hard part.

Some of the game design decisions for ZZZ are questionable, but aside from that it's there with the other gachas as "One of the games of All Time" so I don't see a reason not to put credit and criticism where it's due because everyone's words are subjective until proven otherwise. ZZZ is a good game, It's a truth that the game itself is for ''niche'' audience, but still, it has nice art, somehow ok story and in fact I like combat of this game, yea it is easy, but all follow up attacks and animations are great. The most cool aspect of this game for me are conversations among characters, they are funny, sometimes cringy in a good way and I personally like them a lot. ZZZ is mostly hated, at least what I saw by WuWa players, which is somehow funny, because WuWa got the same amount of hate from Genshin and HSR audience back then. ZZZ definitely is not the same game and WuWa/Genshin or HSR, it targets diferent people with diferent taste for games and genre. I played this game for some quite time and I like it, playing all HSR, WuWa and ZZZ is good enough for me, all these games are different and just because of that, I won't get bored by any of those games. Definitely some improvements must be implied, but at least for now, I'm 100% satisfied with this game.

Or when you have Ellen, she'll respond to Lycaon " Take it easy boss, i'll handle it".

From the view of someone who has, I believe, unlocked all the combat modes and gameplay features, I do have a differing perspective on some points. (WARNING I AM GOING TO YAP A LOT, THIS IS MY FULL IMPRESSION OF THE GAME NOW THAT I'VE UNLOCKED AND USED ALL MAIN SYSTEMS TO SOME DEGREE)
Firstly in terms of difficulty and combat, the bosses surprisingly ramp up pretty quickly! At the time of writing I've unlocked the 2,500 point missions in Hollow Zero and completed up to Stage 6 in "Shiyu Defence" which is ZZZs version of MoC. Story bosses have been given more moves and even a phase 2 that adds even more moves on top of the prior additions. I don't feel like the HP gained by the bosses is that substantial, but the addition of more moves and in some cases, UNBLOCKABLE MOVES? (it has a red flash instead of a yellow flash) mixes up the combat encounters a lot. As a player, I'm still able to succeed with the basics of NA, parries and dodges, but it does definitely feel like you need a good grasps of these systems in order to succeed, which is a pretty big contrast to early game where you could realistically either only rely on dodges or parries to avoid all damage. There's even some instances where I would prefer to avoid attacking in order to better avoid damage (I'm looking at you double mech encounter).
For the TV system, I do think it has a place in the story, as it can serve as a way to gamify story beats. In the interest of not giving spoilers, I'll keep my examples brief, but there's segments of the story later on that use this system to incorporate minigames and puzzles that are story-relevent, and I think it really enhances the connection to the story. I do however have a problem with the way it has been used. I don't think they should have used the TVs as the ONLY form of "transportation" from one story beat to another. We have examples in-game of us being able to interact with NPCs in the combat zones, so I think they should have used that more. I believe that using these 2 systems in tandem is the right answer to the question of story presentation, as we get the best of both worlds (immersion through in-person interactions and immersion through gamification of story beats that would otherwise just be static 3D models).
In terms of the overworld, having unlocked all but 1 area, I do think Sixth Street, the area we start at, is the 2nd best major area (for reference at lv. 30, there's 3 "main" areas that you'll be spending time in, finding collectables and completing quests). It's a condensation of all the systems players need to use, put into a small space that is small enough to not be cumbersome, but large enough to not feel like a room. There's another map that has some of the amenities that Sixth Street has, but oftentimes they're spread so far apart you won't use them unless you're in the area. As a whole I think ZZZ has a strong visual identity, both in the various playable factions, as well as the non-combat overworld. In terms of the combat zones, a majority of them is still ruined buildings sadly, but I hope it changes in chapter 3.
As for mission design, I have to say, these are some of the most fun sidequests I have ever had the pleasure of playing in a gacha game. Before I elaborate, I have to preface that I enjoy the TV system. I like what it stands for, I see its potential, I've experienced some ingenious uses for it, I LOVE the TV system. And I say this because a lot of the interesting sidequests are tied to the TV system, with some exceptions. While, yes, there are a lot of combat-centric ones (courtesy of Venus, my beloved) I've found myself enjoying and remembering the puzzles/minigame sidequests a lot more. I'll give only 1 example but there's a hidden quest you can start that gives you a TFT-like mission. You can recruit and upgrade units in order to tackle increasingly tougher opponents, culmulating in fighting an opponent I genuinely could not beat until I got all the expensive upgrades (yes I suck, deal with it). I had a fun time seeing what the opponents units did, and adjusting my unit positions and upgrading them to answer. Even some of the combat ones were fun, particularly a combat mission that required you to collect invisible coins.
Lastly, and this is one thing I'm surprised more people don't bring up, the farming experience. ZZZ hands down is THE BEST farming experience out of all gacha games I've played. Firstly, I don't need to travel to all maps in order to unlock all resource farms, which is already WAY better than Genshin and HSR, the former of which required you to go on what I can only describe as a journey to middle-earth of nowhere, and the latter needing me to backtrack to a map I already cleared just to open a flower. Secondly, the way they handled resource reward amounts is GENIUS, making it into a deck system so I can change the amount based on the amount of stamina I either wish to spend or have left (btw the max is 100 energy with 5 cards). And later on you even get to make a custom deck FROM SCRATCH, which lets you farm multiple resource types for different character types at the same time! Also, did I mention that weekly boss drops require 0 STAMINA? Of course it's not completely perfect. These systems unfortunately aren't given to the relic farming system, although just like resources you unlock all of them in one go, and I assume all future "relics" will be added to the same vendor. In addition, I wish the UI itself was adjusted so that you could better see the amount of resources you'll be getting without going i to the deck to see. At the tiem of writing I don't think I am in a good enough position to comment on the resource economy itself as I am still in the process of bringing up my first team, however I have not run into any Dennies issues, especially seeing as I have 2 million Dennies. I was also able to get Corrin up from lv. 30 to 40, as well as fully upgrade all talents to 7, within about 240 energy, which I think is pretty fair especially for where I am in the story, where the data disc grind is not relevant and I'm putting ally efforts into guarenteed upgrades. You should expect to have a full lv. 40 team with respectable skill level investment within a week.
Before I give the final statement a few notes, nitpicks and gripes:
    1) I think the NPCs look amazing. I've never stopped to look at random NPCs walking by so many times before. From the elderly to the children I think all of them look great.
    2) While I liked what they were going for with the day-to-night cycle, I would have liked to be able to rest multiple times in a day. I'd be stuck in afternoon with no energy to spend and no sidequests to do, trying to get to evening for my overworld sidequest.
    3) For the love of GOD why are there so many coins.
    4) Overall character design is pretty good. I'm not someone who looks at kid with shorts and thinks that's weird. If it fits the faction theme and looks good I'm inclined to like it. Not saying it isn't weird but seeing as I don't think about it I am not the right person to ask regarding opinions on it (but damn Venus is so fine).
    5) PLSPLSPLSPLSPLS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE GIVE US A D-PAD TO USE IN TV MODE ON MOBILE. TAPPING TO TRAVEL IS SO BAD THERE'S A REASON PEOPLE USE WASD TO TRAVEL WHEN THEY DON'T USE CONTROLLER.
    6) I think the UI could have been better. I think making them the center of focus and spacing them out would vastly improve readability and smooth out the experience
    7) The W-Engine is in my opinion the perfect middle between Genshin/Wuwa weapons and HSRs Lightcone. Visually it isn't as impactful as Genshin/Wuwa, so players don't need to worry about their fav character not weilding their signature weapons on-field, and the Engines having animations makes them so much more fun to collect compared to HSRs Lightcones that are just a static image like a trading card. Also a nice touch giving even A-Rank agents a signature W Engine. It says there's a special skin/effect when they use their signature but in gameplay I haven't seen much of a difference. I could just be blind tho.
Overall I think I'm at a good point to give a score, as 30 is really when stuff starts to slow down (I have very few sidequests left to complete so it's dailies from here on out)and I've spent about 2 days interracting with both the endgame and "postgame" content, so as a whole I think this game is an 8/10, with the early-game/first impressions being a 6/10. This game doesn't do anything substantially better than its competitors (besides its dailies which don't even require stamina OR that bs synthesis/crafting lol) but as a sum of its parts, it holds up amazingly well. While I have a lot of gripes with some core systems, I understand from a development point of view why they chose those directions and am inclined to agree with them to a good degree. ZZZ at where I stand at this point in time a good gacha game that has a lot of style, a VERY good amount of substance and content, especially for a 1.0 product, and has a lot of systems integral to the gacha experience (farming, gearing, etc.) being either on par or in some cases better than its contemporaries. If anything the greatest sin this game has commited is not showing its promise sooner, in terms of combat, storytelling, and gameplay features. Underneath all the layers of oil there exists a well polished game that I feel is worth sticking with, but I can only say these things after wiping away all the grime and oil that was the early game experience. I'm not so sure other players will be as tenacious as I am. Overall this is a gacha game that while admittedly has some shaky buildings, is built on rock solid foundations. Only time will tell how well it does but as far as I'm concerned, this might just be up there as my top 3 favourite gachas.
PSA.: The "dating system" is unlocked at 31 and it'll start with the mission "Anby's Commision" so just a heads up for those scouring the game to find it.

You mentioned the TV mode being great for the roguelike mode, but I also think it has loads of potential for side quests. There were some that really stood out to me, the main ones being
Defending the belobog industry drill rig with the turrets.
Helping the mad scientist test his bombs and having to bait enemies into the blasts to charge it.
Sneaking around enemies with soldier 11.
Not side content but I also really liked having to frogger the civilians between moving trains and to a lesser extent thought it was funny when Anton starts being a one-man army during one of the chapter 2 missions and you use him as a battering ram, blasting through dudes for you.
There could be more, but I'm only rank 29 at the moment and haven't done all the quests yet. There might be more interesting ones than just those few examples, but I will say I'm also one of the oddballs that enjoys the tv portions though I agree the TV segment should take a backseat during the main story. I don't think they need to get rid of it per say but they should definitely use the rally game mode more and earlier on in the game and from what I've read, that might be what Hoyo wants to do in the future (I can't back this information, but I've seen in other comment sections that in a stream Hoyo said something along those lines and I hope it's true for the sake of the game).

I was vrey surprised when I unlocked hard mode at around inter-knot level 26 where the enemies actually were doing something and packed a punch. Would freaking love the option to permamently turn that on for the whole game. Mind it's not that hard since it's a gacha game but it was waaaaaay more enjoyable and refreshing to actually pay attention to how you play and dodge. Still the game is in early stages so I'm willing to hope that a more challanging content will come eventually. Time will tell. So far I've been having lots of fun. All people I've seen that bitch about this game so far didn't even pass level 20 - 25 so they didn't even see that mode. The whole thing kind of reminds me of story mode from genshin / hsr where the game is actually very easy to progress storywise but outside of that you can find harder content.

Majority of the people(sane people, not haters) that are saying ZZZ is mid is because the enemies are braindead in story mode, so the new player experience is not satisfying and the combat is gated by the TV system. The amount if yapping is annoying as well. If only they stick to the comic style story telling and not the visual novel style and reduce the dialogues because majority of them is unnecessary.

The problem is that there has been a lot of hoyoverse hate lately and it wouldn't have mattered if ZZZ was the best game in history or not, some people would shit on it anyway.
But this is not me saying the game is perfect, it has issues but I agree with a lot of Gacha Smack is saying and I'm enjoying it a lot.

    Gameplay: 4/10 (repetitive, TV)
    Art/UI: 9/10 (love the retro/urban/Persona vibes)
    Music: 8/10 (scratches my taste)
PR and media: 9/10 (dopamine for my ADHD-ass brain)
Overall it's a 6/10 game for me, though I am more tempted to stick to this game because the community hates it lol. Not spending until the devs actually improve on the gameplay though, art and music can only take you so far.

They hate it because they like combat more than most things, Hoyo games are usually more focused on story and less on combat. This game is for a "niche" audience which is fine but for most they don't like it at all because combat sucks and probably Art etc.. For me Combat and the Art is most important mainly combat, for me this game does bore me because it's not for me. That's why Wuthering Waves is one of the top gacha games right now because of how good their combat is, the story is rushed but most people don't care much about it and there's a lot of skill in it. This game is designed for casuals so can't expect someone who play Wuthering Waves mainly for combat to enjoy this game, that's why they say they hate it.

The thing that gets me about the TVs is that I enjoy them on their own, but the way they're placed and paced out feels like an awkward speed bump due the devs trying to make that format have more impact. I can see some of the devs sitting around a table and trying to figure out how to make these feel less skippable and redundant. End of the day I think the execution was well meaning, but pointed in the wrong direction. The comic format and 3D cutscenes are to die for, so I don't think the game needs the TVs in the main story as a puzzle element. It being either an actual dungeon with real stakes or a simple A to B cutscene pipeline is probably for the best.

One thing I've had a problem with in terms of combat is the forced auto-swapping when you're in the middle of something like gaining stacks on something, doing a combo on an enemy, or are building up to use a particular skill on a character. Ellen for example, can combo her basic attack stacks then a EX Skill chain into an ult for example. However if you stun an enemy, you get forced to swap out of all that abruptly. This is less noticeable with some of the higher end modes as you progress solely for the fact that you have tankier enemies and less smaller side mobs, however it's still noticeably present in the game as an annoyance imo.
To counter this at times, I've just gone in solo with a character and got to play the character fully.

Watching videos about ZZZ before it launched, I would say I was unimpressed. As soon as I launched the game and started playing, I was in love. It’s so smooth, uncapped FPS being a thing is amazing, and the design/feel is so reminiscent of Studio Trigger that it hits on my love of their shows. The UI is so stylish and creative. The character designs are unique and the models are very clean-looking.

ZZZ wouldn't work for plenty of folks. I love the game, but it had its fair share of launch issues too.
Not as bad as WuWa mind you, but the game not opening (mostly old devices, so a small issue), the whole world disappearing, and many glitches can't be called smooth. Not to mention the crazy amount of storage it took/takes on PC (I think they changed that, not 100% sure tho).
I will say they fixed a lot of it quickly, but Kuro wasn't far behind in that respect either. So no, not a shockingly good launch, but not a dumpster fire either.
As a side note, I think it should also be taken into consideration that they don't have to deal with an open world, but I won't pretend to know a lot about that sort of thing. I've heard instance games are less intensive overall, but word of mouth via random people on social media isn't credible.

I think the TV System definitely has it's place, it's a stylized approach to the "Tower" type modes most Gacha have, and I can absolutely see it as PART of the main story, but to have almost every single piece of worldbuilding be set in these TVs with a combat stage every now and then? Not so much, we can clearly see this ZZZ team knows how to make atmosphere, 6th Street is incredible in that regard, and seeing Ellen Joe (and potentially others too? haven't gotten too far.) ACTUALLY pop up in random places is an amazing part of building a world that actually FEELS alive. I just hope they actually change the TV system to be far less prevalent, having it be there sometimes is fine, I remember a part of the story where the sibling you chose got stranded in a Hollow, and the TV section simulated enemies and missile strikes preventing a direct approach, and that was cool as a one-off. That being said I'm really enjoying the game overall and I hope the dev team continues to build up this amazing world they've setup, I'm optimistic.

The game has great presentation but does that really matter if the story, if the combat doesnt get good until 20 hours in, if you cant even see the characters you pulled in the tiny overworld? I guess it's like playing an anime... I'd expect a game medium to be more than that.

Keep in mind this is a game designed for mobile like Genshin Impact. It's not supposed to be Elden Ring.

They could still save the tv system if they even do still images on the tv screens when they zoom in. It could have the grainy feel of a CRT and then have dialogue or other story beats.

I really dont like the way people talk about "kids" in anime and games. i really like the design and I dont care if they are being sexualized. you need to remember this is just a game and NOT REAL. yes if this was real humans i would also be DISGUSTED if they were sexualized but this is a game. not real. there is no reason to talk about them like this. why couldnt you just say "its not my type" or "its not for me" and just go out of your way and talk about how bad it is that they are doing this. so many people think of them like this it annoys me so much. am i not allowed to find kids in game cute or attractive? its a game not real after all

I honestly agree with you cuz i too find kids in game cute and i really don't know why people like gacha smack be saying that they're feeling uncomfortable when they see kids wearing those kind of clothes when irl when i was young i was wearing those kind of clothes during summer when it was very hot days.
I don't wanna disrespect gacha smack, but i gotta say it was a very bad take when he said "young girls wearing those kind of clothes are not appropriate" when irl you can see them wear those clothes in summer.

This is how pedophiles convince themselves that its ok to whack it to anime/cartoon characters that look like children.
