I was given a half pyr half malinois to hopefully be my next SD. She just turned 4 months and I have already started working her. There have been minor hiccups but hoping she will do well.
She is a program dog. She could end up with me as a pet if she passes vet exams in a year for breeding. If not, back up training her as a service dog. But she would go to someone else. Mya isn’t retiring
I’d feel super uncomfortable breeding any female prior to 2.5 years old….. there’s lots of veterinary experts that advise waiting until then. I know you have no say in her breeding future because she’s not your dog. Wishing you and her the best of luck with her training! ❤
In one year she just goes for preliminary health testing. That doesn’t mean breeding starts. She has to have OFA’s too. We will just know in a year if she’s more likely to pass for breeding, and if not, if she has potential as a service dog, she can go to another trainer with the program to finish out training. Now I don’t know when exactly breeding starts. And like you said I have no control. But I do trust that the program puts the dogs first and doesn’t breed them until they are ready. I would guess it’ll be around 2. But I don’t actually know. Step one for now is making it a year for preliminary health testing. If she passes, she’s ours to keep. ❤️❤️ if she goes off to be a service dog, we will lose her. But it’s my choice. And I would rather her be a service dog if she can be, if she can’t be a breeder. But thank you! ❤️
Hey first of all wanted to say I love your content! I wanted to ask you some questions about idk if you want to call it a service animal or esa that’s kinda what I asking you but I have panic attacks and anxiety and depression and I see a psychiatrist for it so I have all the right stuff to prove that I struggle with things and I have loved dogs and wanted one for my panic attacks for the future but I respect people like you who could die if you don’t have your dogs. So I want to do it respectfully but I just wanted to know a how I can and if I can get a certified dog where I can take places and what would be the rules for it. Like if they are allowed the same places service annals are or if they are still considered esa.
And also where are the places I need to go to get started with the process because I plan to train the dog on my own due to money issues so I have done plenty of research and watched so many videos
I think dogs are the sweetest creatures on the planet.
Agreed

Omg, she's adorable! Is she going to take over Mya's job when she retires? Or is she for someone else? Or is she a pet?
