I shed a tear listening to this. This is a song I sang to my wife before she was my wife, and this version just overwhelmed me with positive vibes. Thank you all for singing it, and thanks to TMBG for writing it. My wife is still my rock, and of course, my angel.
I shed tears cuz my cousin just committed suicide to follow her son into whatever comes next. If you're following an angel, it doesn't mean you have to throw your body off a building
Sweetly captured the spirit of the song. A choir that welcomes all ages & all abilities is exactly the type of choir that appreciate TMBG, which embraces fans of all ages & abilities! When I was a choir teacher I was part of a stress relief program, NOT a "let's have operatic solos & technical proficiency that makes people weep if they aren't perfect." Any music teacher like that will only appeal to a particular type of student & do serious mental damage to a lot of people along the way. I often joked that "if you tell me you can't sing, you may be lying" (as a joke because I think people lie to themselves about their own abilities, after the world has torn them down for lack of perfection.)
Sadly this may come across as me thinking there are glaring flaws so I will give a specific compliment about the 1st technical proficiency I DID notice: this song has melodic timing that can be very tricky & I was impressed they managed to nail that aspect even when everyone was singing together!
This is absolutely wonderful, and I hope John and John have seen it. I don't know them personally but I reckon I've a decent sense of them, and they would adore it. Can you imagine such a long-time band as this, so dedicated to their craft, seeing one of their earliest works inspiring such a large group of people coming out to perform it? There's scarcely going to be a better tribute.
What a great job you all did! TMBG also posted this on Tumblr, so the TMBG fan-verse hopefully will enjoy it :) if I lived in Durham I would totally want to join your super rad chorus! Keep up the music!
Watching this, I was reminded of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, where their music became the foundation of a future religion. Choirs of TMBG are better. ;)
Such an awesome somg. Definitely on my top 3 favorite TMBG songs of all time. They did it beautifully. This song brings tears everytime I hear it. Such a sad but lovely song.
Anyone & Everyone who knows Me, knows I absolutely love & adore - TMBG! …Top 10 of all time? …Top 25? Get back to Me, but easily, Top 33 &/or 66. I love & adore them because they’re great writers, arrangers of sound/music, & musicians. I would say their “arrangement” of music is kinda in the style of “Northern Music”/A Northern Song/The Pixies/Pink Floyd/The Violent Femmes… but that would be too dismissive of their brilliance & uniqueness; so, instead, I’ll say this - Their music & writing is in the style of The Book of Numbers, Job, Psalms, Song of Songs, & Revelation; IMO. Anyone & Everyone who knows Me; doesn’t know this: I think/believe “She’s an Angel” is one of their, absolute best; please don’t “ask” Me anymore. …but I kinda wish it was titled: “An Angel?”, “He-She’s An Angel”, “An Angel” - But I ain’t the writer, of that beauty & brilliance; amen! Sincerely, Jason S Vinluan PolitZero Press & Print, LLC
Neat! Would have been even cooler with A/T subgroups doing the slide guitar glisses. Still, picky because I happen to think this is one of the best pop songs ever written.
Would many agree with me that these kinds of songs sound better than modern music. And some modern music sound like some kind of dark babbling? Did I spell that right or it was something else. Anyway, inspiring songs like these...very good. Magic. The gathering is awesome. The crowd, I mean. Teamwork... gimsqaujzvwfwl
I like tmbg and I like choirs but this is a case of ketchup on chocolate. Song should be sung with inflections, not possible in a choir. Song is bizarre and obscure, I can almost guarantee that one guy in the choir was really happy to be singing it, everyone else was bummed out or indifferent at best but they didn't complain for the sake of keeping the band together.
Fantastic job!
Well, that's just freakin' awesome. :)
TMBG approve!
Yes, especially the ominous "oooh"ing in the 2nd verse
TMBG is the best!
That's cool
dude at 2:06 is my spirit animal. you all are amazing, stay true.
don't you ever change!
100% agree!
You can tell they are so "into" it & I wouldn't be surprised if they were the excited TMBG fan that kept insisting the choir give this song a try!
Right on
So it was the guy at 2:06s turn to pick out the song?
I love it so much!!!! You guys rule!
I'm glad they added the 2nd "in fact."
As an old TMBG fan, I was very emotional listening to this. Just wonderful.

Same!
I shed tears cuz my cousin just committed suicide to follow her son into whatever comes next.

I teared up too.
oh my gosh it's a third jon!
You say she's your rock, but how often do wind a string around her?

THE DUDE at 2:10 ... YEAH!
Yeah!
I could never imagine that a choir picks a song from my favourite band. And this is truly brilliant. Thanks - great choice.
This song should be required material for all high school choirs.

They have, their UA-cam channel is the top comment
They're just people like you and I. They have heard it. Very good guys.
The dude bopping around 1:30 makes it.
My absolute favorite TMBG song!
same, and hearing this, is just amazing !!
The first album is their best album.
I like this one but i personally think ana ng and kiss me, son of god are a bit better
this and Alienation's For The Rich. This is much more suited for a choir.
One of my favorite songs by my favorite band. That was a really good cover.
Are you Spock Speck?
That's German for bacon.
That head-banging guy... (:
Clearly having the time of his life.
I kind of love that guy.

I'm back and I agree, it's a really nice song.

Lovely. This song has a healthy number of covers. Would love to hear the chorus for Unforgotten or I Blame You from tmbg
Love this.
wonderful

Wow. Just Wow. WHERE CAN I FIND MORE???
Awesome
Carlette B. Thank you. I love you.

Son of God.
That kid at 0:16 reminds me of the time I used to play at a strangers house while my mum would practice chorus.

They Might Be Giants are better than the Beatles. Not joking.
Why is NOBODY singing the part of the TUBA?!?!?!?! They killed the best part of this song..
I'd love to know whose idea this was 🤣
Don Quixote would be proud.
…It’s there #001 song, don’t argue w/Me; I’ve already made up My mind… but We can discuss; If You’d like?
Sincerely;

When you're messing up the lyrics...
Does it mean you have to throw your singers off a building?
Needs more cowbell
Or Cowtown?
Is the cow a friend to me?

This song doesn't sound right without a tuba...
And the slide guitar
Sorry but I think this a really poor cover. I am giving it a like only because, in general, there are too few covers of this song.
Sadly, I agree. I LOVE that they did this, but the arrangement is very uninteresting.
