07 E60 550 6spd manual with 181,000 miles on it. I replaced the battery last year. Past that.....I've had exactly zero of the other issues you mentioned.
I unplugged that blue connector near the battery 6 years ago after having battery drain. I had forgotten about it until this video, luckily havent had any electrical problems since
Thankyou for your videos they are a great help for a better understanding. I've recently bought a E60 3.0d and it seems to have some irregular fault codes that come up and sometimes rest on their own accord and other than times I have to restart the engine for codes to be reset. It's generally abs,DTC,tyre pressure that persistently come up and randomly get pas,steering lock, battery terminals, servotronics, transmission fault and others Most of the time it's as as if moderate acceleration, pot holes/puddles or high use of voltage (using radio, blowers, rear screen heater ect) if will throw fault codes. It goes into limp mode it seems if changing gear as fault codes show up. Power steering goes and transmission gets set into 3rd gear untill I restart engine and it drives fine again sometimes for 30 plus miles then other times it will consecutively persist reverting to limp mode several times from fault codes in a short journey. Any help or direction in fault finding would be greatly appreciated. Kieron

Go under the car mate and the tensioner you need a breaker bar to pull the tensioner down to slip the belt over and then the tensioner will spring up and push the belt back up onto the crankshaft pulley and the air con belt mate If you was near me I would have come and done it for you in seconds bro if not another way is remove the tensioner place the belt and get a pin lock the tension in place and refit the tensioner then take out the pin mate
Hallo Dean, Thanks for all the videos on E60, I Got an E60 530i M54 been running smooth last 4 years No problems, now i have a huge problem, my car have been to 3 shops (2 of them BMW Electric specialist) but my car keeps draining the battery, story goes like this, 1st I came out to my car after work all Windows were Down and sunroof open, I though it was a pocket push, so brushed it off, 3 days later same again, took it to a shop, they Said once in a while the whole car wakes up and We cant figure out why, and now the 3rd shop gave up and Said the same thing, im desperate for help 🙏🏽
My faults sometimes key fob won't lock the car 55 E60. Also no crank no start . Sometimes cranks but don't start. Other time no problem starts on the button. Fault code 46D1 internal fault. What needs replaced?

Dear Doctor. I also have a central electricity problem and don’t know where to start looking. The air conditioner sometimes fades away, sometimes it doesn’t. The radio and cd are choppy. The back of the panoramic sunroof remained open. Reset does not respond. The engine stopped a few times by default. I replaced the MPM module and the trailer module. What do you recommend?
Oooh good info! didn't know that about the diversity antenna. Doc can u do a vid explaining what actions (open the door, put the key in, open the trunk, unlock remotely etc,) and what turns on when said items are used. I always hear the fuel pump I believe, but am super curious what comes on when and by what action. Thanks Doc, glad your feeling better man, I need an iwatch!
Yes mike I will do mate , it’s not so much about actions it’s what allowing you when you give the car signals to give the module the ok to allow it most of these things are all done via the CAS when operated with the key everything goes via the CAS (CAR ACCESS SYSTEM) which is responsible for everything you do before start up and allows that key to recieve signals from your commands when pressed
BMW Doctor super interesting, thanks for the rapid reply! Used to fords where the pump turns on when the key is inserted and turned forward. Prefer to wait a second after the pump pressures before cranking an engine over. In my e82 I always have the heat, radio, and lights off as well with door open before hitting the start button so I can hear the engine fire
I have a 130i e81 N52 (2011), I believe it's same platform as an E9. I've had the yellow steering lock in my car with really heavy steering, took it to the dealer but they wanted to charge $10k, so I took it to an independent workshop and they charged $800 for fixing it electronically. 5 months later the steering lock appeared again, but the wheel doesn't get as stiff as previously. Please is there anyway I can contact you (paid advice).

thats correct yes it does as it gets fried which causes the chip inside thats meant to make the car go to sleep blow and it wont put the car to sleep mate you will need to get anew one and make sure you get it coded and programmed to the car OR it wont work properly
BMW Doctor the strange thing is when i lock the car and after some time i checked from window the orange light on gearknob was off. Or this module dont have a relation on this ? Thank you very much for the help ❤️
BMW Doctor i found the issue.. it was from TCU. MPM working perfectly. After comments i just plugged MPM and unplugged the TCU. On the next day evrything was perfect. Car started like new 😂
I commented on your previous posting, about BMW electronics being a head ache for me. Thank you for this posting. Althought I have an e65 I recognized the common items your vehicle and my vehicle have. I guess I will have to find some one that understands "ISTA". Also my battery may need to be re-registered, as my brother had a new one installed and I don't know if he had it registered or not. Could be why I have problems.

thanks for all the good videos you have here, if you can add another one in my case i have a 2010 BMW 328xi and i hooked up a scanner to make another extra key through the immobilizer function and it started to do its thing up to 4% and i disconnected the cable from the obd2 port and now the car has no power at all the key dont work nothing on the instrument cluster, no power on the navigation screen nothing the only power i get is when i turn the rear and headlights on !!!

Amazing video.. I have an E60 with a N52 motor. I am having a variety of electrical issues. I used to have a severe battery drain on my car. I just noticed that the water pump on my car keeps running. It was running for more than an hour after the car was shut off. I have unplugged the battery and put hooked it up to a slow charger. I think the water pump and thermostat needs to be replaced. Another issue is that everytime i reconnect the battery, I get a message saying transmission failure, Cruise control malfunction.. I reset the transmission adaptation by holding down the gas pedal for 30 seconds and then turn it back on and then the message is gone. Car runs well and shifts perfectly. I only have 135,000 kms on my car. Can I contact you via email?
I have a 2006 bmw 325i the initial issue that started is the windows went down and would not roll back up. I could not adjust the front seats and the signals stopped working. I had the FMR tested that was working fine. I replaced the JBE I’m not sure if that fixed the issue with the seats because now when I connect the battery the light will come on for about 30 seconds and then it shut off but once it turns on the car won’t even crank it won’t start. It won’t do anything. Can anyone help me here I feel like I just keep buying stuff and nothing is working. The next thing I planned on doing was replacing the power distribution box
Recent justices qpurchased a 2005 545i, as of right now the lights are completely off, I don’t the think the car battery is dead because I recently replaced the old one. And I dint think it’s because it’s not pregamed yet since I’ve only driven it twice, both times not too far from my house. I tried disconnecting my ips wire (at least I thought i did it right) and it still won’t turn on

Hello Dr. I just finished troubleshooting my power drain and traced it to the cluster. What are the best options to correct this issue? The cluster seems to function normally but it is keeping the car awake. For now, I am pulling the fuse when I am done driving and reinserting before I start the car. Another question, where does the fiber optic signal originate for the Most Buss? Is it the amplifier? I recently lost all I drive functionality and I am not seeing it light up I will double check all my fuses but I wonder if my micro power module went bad. I relocated it when I got the car and the connections look clean.

Hi, great informative videos, thank you. I have a 2007 520dMsport with an intermittent fault causing the following warnings on the iDrive: Cruise control failure, DBC Failure, Drive control system, Servotronic failure, PDC Failure, Start assist inactive and Fuel Pump. i have changed the PDC Module which has cleared the PDC Failure, but the other faults come and go randomly. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hi I'm late to your excellent videos are you still operating and continuing to send out videos, I have a battery drain on my 2005 e60 530d, it can drain overnight or generally by the 2nd night if not run, I've no idea to the problem could it be the ibs if so how do you disconnect, or something else the clock and trip milage and mpg ect allways resets to zero on turing on ignition, I'm shaw its battery drain, would love your advice or I'd pay well for your service. hi i have a 2007 335d that randomly cuts out it happens alot more often when the car is warm and at any rpm doesnt matter if its under load or coming off either , there is no warning lights when this happens or codes using snap on solus ultra
Hi I’ve been watching a lot of your videos trying to figure out what is wrong with mine , I have a problem with my 2008 520d e61 where the car was running and driving fine But had central electronics failure but I went to the car today and I had no ignition lights other than brake warning light and air bag warning light , I have since found out about the module behind the glove box and the relays and modules in the spare wheel well in the boot , so my question is do you think the no ignition lights is related to the water damage in the white module box on the boot or could it be the module behind the glove box , please comment back as I’ve only had the car 2 days so I don’t want to go spending ££££ on parts I don’t need ?, awesome videos too not many people thats go into depth about issues

I have a 2006 550i automatic v8 having issues with my screen display. Seemed as if it was rebooting as I was driving one day and once I shut off the car it never turned back on. I can hear the fan running all the time even when my car is off. No radio, no gps and no way to tell if I have any issues, what do I do about that ? Can I unhook the battery to reset everything ? Or just take the car into a BMW mechanic and pay the price ?

Rdc module on my 08 e60 got wet, aI disconnected it, but now my climate control wont change my heat vents, i only have heat coming out of 2 vents, and nothing changes even when i turn on a/cit also wontturn on max a/c i don't know what to do. Its 1degree here.

Fantastic video, well done, straight to the point. I had two E61s and started getting interested in figuring these beautiful (or ugly in the case of the e61) vehicles out. Summertime rains in Miami would always cause weird electrical issues, even after I got the sunroof drains sorted out. Now in Texas and have a fully sorted out 2001 e38 Sport as a DD. Not sure I would go back to an e60/61 but my appreciation for them has grown over the years. Thank you

Can you tell me where the starter relay is located on a 2010 528i? Car was running perfect. I stop by my parent's house for 10 minutes. Then hopped back in car. No start. Doctor, can you help with a tutorial? I’ve got a 2011 E92 ‘3 LCI, 335i N55, auto, M Sport pkg, build 3/30/11. 79,300 miles. It’s a USA car. I have an electrical issue that comes and goes. I’ll get a warning on the iDrive nav screen that there is a problem with the passenger airbag. It will say that it’s not operating, but to continue to use the seatbelt. This warning will activate even when no one is sitting in passenger seat. Sometimes it will remain on, sometimes it doesn’t activate at all and appears normal. How do I diagnose this? Can I have your number please? I've got a bmw e60 525d, the car have a big vibration, I've changed the flex disc and csb cause where damaged , from the propshaft but the car is still vibrating . The car is usually vibrating between 60mph -80 mph . Tyres ,discs brakes, and everything on the wheels are new, what else could be? My mechanic is saying that is weird and we should change the engine mounts, gearbox mount and the oil in the automatic transmission to see if still vibrating after that. Many thanks.

I currently have no known electrical issues, but when I have the key in accessory mode, (ignition on but not running) the battery gets low with in 10-15 minutes. Is that normal for these cars? Other than that I have no known battery issues. E60 530i M54. (actually I lied passenger airbag light is on)
Ive subscribed really like the 5 series from 04-09 need a touring though fkr the kids an dogs. In thinking the 530d what do u think? Also have you got a garage that wiuld sort a fee known faults in these cars instead of having to go to bmw. For some odd reason, every time I press the brake pedal. While driving or not. All my LED’s flicker/dim Headlights, taillights, license plate lights and turn signal indicators. I have no idea why? Can anyone provide a lead on this? I’d really appreciate it

Your is 2007 mate most of these issues affect 2003-2005 cars before all these electronics were moved to KGM

I recommend leaving it until it catches fire and then buy another car

thanks for all the good videos you have here, if you can add another one in my case i have a 2010 BMW 328xi and i hooked up a scanner to make another extra key through the immobilizer function and it started to do its thing up to 4% and i disconnected the cable from the obd2 port and now the car has no power at all the key dont work nothing on the instrument cluster, no power on the navigation screen nothing the only power i get is when i turn the rear and headlights on !!!

I have problems with diversity antenna ,the key its onlu working whem i puit it next to the antenna ........probably this is the reason for high battery draining showing in the dashboard......its 300euro a new one !!

Amazing video.. I have an E60 with a N52 motor. I am having a variety of electrical issues.
I used to have a severe battery drain on my car. I just noticed that the water pump on my car keeps running. It was running for more than an hour after the car was shut off. I have unplugged the battery and put hooked it up to a slow charger.
I think the water pump and thermostat needs to be replaced.
Another issue is that everytime i reconnect the battery, I get a message saying transmission failure, Cruise control malfunction.. I reset the transmission adaptation by holding down the gas pedal for 30 seconds and then turn it back on and then the message is gone. Car runs well and shifts perfectly. I only have 135,000 kms on my car. Can I contact you via email?

I have a 2006 bmw 325i the initial issue that started is the windows went down and would not roll back up. I could not adjust the front seats and the signals stopped working. I had the FMR tested that was working fine. I replaced the JBE I’m not sure if that fixed the issue with the seats because now when I connect the battery the light will come on for about 30 seconds and then it shut off but once it turns on the car won’t even crank it won’t start. It won’t do anything. Can anyone help me here I feel like I just keep buying stuff and nothing is working. The next thing I planned on doing was replacing the power distribution box

Recent justices qpurchased a 2005 545i, as of right now the lights are completely off, I don’t the think the car battery is dead because I recently replaced the old one. And I dint think it’s because it’s not pregamed yet since I’ve only driven it twice, both times not too far from my house. Hello Dr. I just finished troubleshooting my power drain and traced it to the cluster. What are the best options to correct this issue? The cluster seems to function normally but it is keeping the car awake. For now, I am pulling the fuse when I am done driving and reinserting before I start the car. Another question, where does the fiber optic signal originate for the Most Buss? Is it the amplifier? I recently lost all I drive functionality and I am not seeing it light up I will double check all my fuses but I wonder if my micro power module went bad. I relocated it when I got the car and the connections look clean.

I have a 2007 520dMsport with an intermittent fault causing the following warnings on the iDrive: Cruise control failure, DBC Failure, Drive control system, Servotronic failure, PDC Failure, Start assist inactive and Fuel Pump. i have changed the PDC Module which has cleared the PDC Failure, but the other faults come and go randomly. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hi I’ve been watching a lot of your videos trying to figure out what is wrong with mine , I have a problem with my 2008 520d e61 where the car was running and driving fine But had central electronics failure but I went to the car today and I had no ignition lights other than brake warning light and air bag warning light , I have since found out about the module behind the glove box and the relays and modules in the spare wheel well in the boot , so my question is do you think the no ignition lights is related to the water damage in the white module box on the boot or could it be the module behind the glove box , please comment back as I’ve only had the car 2 days so I don’t want to go spending ££££ on parts I don’t need ?, awesome videos too not many people thats go into depth about issues

I have a 2006 550i automatic v8 having issues with my screen display. Seemed as if it was rebooting as I was driving one day and once I shut off the car it never turned back on. I can hear the fan running all the time even when my car is off. No radio, no gps and no way to tell if I have any issues, what do I do about that ? Can I unhook the battery to reset everything ? Or just take the car into a BMW mechanic and pay the price ?

Rdc module on my 08 e60 got wet, aI disconnected it, but now my climate control wont change my heat vents, i only have heat coming out of 2 vents, and nothing changes even when i turn on a/cit also wontturn on max a/c i don't know what to do. Its 1degree here.

Fantastic video, well done, straight to the point. I had two E61s and started getting interested in figuring these beautiful (or ugly in the case of the e61) vehicles out. Summertime rains in Miami would always cause weird electrical issues, even after I got the sunroof drains sorted out. Now in Texas and have a fully sorted out 2001 e38 Sport as a DD. Not sure I would go back to an e60/61 but my appreciation for them has grown over the years. Thank you

I have an 2004 bmw 545i. Car starts then dies. Stuck with p1720 code. I changed battery, alternator voltage regulator, IVM module and micro power module. Now I don't have the option to register battery. Any ideas what it can be? Any info would help. Thanks

Can you tell me where the starter relay is located on a 2010 528i? Car was running perfect. I stop by my parent's house for 10 minutes. Then hopped back in car. No start. I saw a faulty ignition code pop up on my i-drive screen briefly but the fault message is no longer there now. But car still won't start. If you are able and willing to guide me in the right direction it's to be much appreciated.

Doctor, can you help with a tutorial? I’ve got a 2011 E92 ‘3 LCI, 335i N55, auto, M Sport pkg, build 3/30/11. 79,300 miles. It’s a USA car. I have an electrical issue that comes and goes. I’ll get a warning on the iDrive nav screen that there is a problem with the passenger airbag. It will say that it’s not operating, but to continue to use the seatbelt. This warning will activate even when no one is sitting in passenger seat. Sometimes it will remain on, sometimes it doesn’t activate at all and appears normal. How do I diagnose this? I've got a bmw e60 525d, the car have a big vibration, I've changed the flex disc and csb cause where damaged , from the propshaft but the car is still vibrating .
The car is usually vibrating between 60mph -80 mph .
Tyres ,discs brakes, and everything on the wheels are new, what else could be?
My mechanic is saying that is weird and we should change the engine mounts, gearbox mount and the oil in the automatic transmission to see if still vibrating after that. Many thanks.

I currently have no known electrical issues, but when I have the key in accessory mode, (ignition on but not running) the battery gets low with in 10-15 minutes. Is that normal for these cars? Other than that I have no known battery issues. E60 530i M54. (actually I lied passenger airbag light is on)

Also have you got a garage that wiuld sort a fee known faults in these cars instead of having to go to bmw. Im machanically an dnt mind servicing myself an other day to day stuff but belts an electrics im nit comfirtable with.
