Brown leaves don’t transmit light at all. Using a very translucent mesh is no where as good as cottons, which also darken when they get wet.

dont cut zip ties, use pliers and twist n pull the tail off. will reduce sharp edges.
Or you could just you flush cutters and not have an issue at all

Def not Nov. His product uses Tulle which is shiny and awful. You want the Kicking Mustang AGM.
Kicking Mustang. His leaves don't lay flat like these either.
