The wolf is SUCH an amazing song. The vocals are so strong and beautiful and I get goosebumps whenever I listen to it. The message is so deep for this one too.
Whenever I was walking through my first college's campus, I was kind of always miserable, so I loved power walking to your songs 😭 thanks for making such powerful, pensive songs! I absolutely ADORE how Kate gives a little echo at the end with "I will join the wolf"

Ever since I heard Ribs, I fell in love with this band in fact it's my favorite Crane Wives song and my fav all time music video. Ever since the Here I Am and Fool in her Wedding Gown album, I fell in love totally and completely. You guys are one of my tippy top favorite bands of all time, you make such beautiful, intricately layered and compositionally precise music. I can't help but be inspired and moved by your songs. Thank you for making Ribs and October (OG and Live version) and Here I Am and Pretty Little Things and Icarus and Hollow Moon and ofc The Wolf.
This is quite a long comment so I'll stop here but, you all have truly impacted my perception of music and I love what you all make and I literally, seriously, cannot wait for more (but at your convenience ofc, songs take alot of effort to make)

I first heard this song two years ago in that live version you guys uploaded. Since then, I've always considered this song a precursor to Curses.
I especially like the howling part and the "I will join the wolf" at around 4:18
So I'm weird, but this reminds me so much of Homestuck, which is a compliment. It feels so haunting and as if the singer both loathes themself and is trying to scare everyone around themself. So I guess it reminds me of Homestuck cause it reminds me of a character from it... Eh whatever this song is chilling and amazing!

As a fellow musician, how do you get the warbliy effect in the intro? I’m thinking it’s partly because of an overdrive but I’m not sure.
Kate and I are using carbon copy delay pedals on the intro, with overdrive and reverb!
