"Stayed Gone" is such a fantastic song. It perfectly establishes Vox and Alastor's dynamic. The fact that Vox was so hot-headed and felt the need to assert dominance in the first place, while Alastor stays collected and nonchalant already suggests who's superior. But the way Alastor just casually tunes in, hits Vox back even harder, and completely airs out his dirty laundry just proves it. And then there's the end, with Alastor giving his own warning and showing his demon form. It's awesome, creepy, and lets us know for certain he's got a hidden agenda. And it's going to change everything. A perfect theatrical number. Also, I'm so glad Vivienne didn't go the obvious, overused story route of having Charlie believe Sir Pentious when he got caught and kicking out Angel Dust or whatever for the sake of drama. And you know the next episode would've been wasted with Angel trying to clear his name. I can't stand that misunderstanding trope.
It's really one of the most visually exciting and bombastic sequences in the whole show! It gets better and better with every re-watch, and that ending ending with Alastor is so memorable. The way his lyrics and melody echo the opening of the song is just top-notch, so good 🔥 Totally agree, it never really crossed my mind that would be the direction of the scene cuz it certainly would've felt too forced and cliche. The misunderstanding trope rarely works for me, and I'm actually glad they went with Charlie fully taking in Sir Pentious, it adds to Angel Dust as a character as well. Freaking loved this episode!
Fun bit with Vox: he also has subtle voice modulation at times when he's upset or angry, similar to how Alastor has (and sometimes not-so-subtle, as when he yells at Valentino). And the 'blood' from Vox's lips, when he's agitated, is similar to the vertical parallel bars you get on modern flat-screen TVs when their screen is broken.

I love that this episode not only shows that Charlie's dream of redeeming sinners might just be possible, but also hints at the limitations of it. On the one hand you have sir pentious who is actually willing to change, and then you have the Vees who are very unlikely to change. Also I absolutely love how petty Alastor is, the most powerful overlord in Hell will kill you if you tear his already ruined jacket. He and Vox had better get another duet in season 2, that whole sequence was just priceless
Exactly, I really love that they're exploring bit by bit Charlie's dream in different ways! I can't really see the Vees redeeming themselves, specially Valentino. Hahaha it's actually such a great contrast, he was so composed and calm the whole time with Vox and that one moment with Sir Pentious he just sends him to the other side of Hell, it's just hilarious 😂 can't get over that Stayed Gone sequence, it really is a work of art, the animation and energy is just breathtaking 💯
You may be right, Charlie's optimism could be her fatal flaw. She's also been a bit sheltered, you can tell, so she doesn't always get what other people are going through. Great reaction. Your editing always makes things fun.

Alastor is such a great character, I love the atmosphere he brings (the mystery, the creepiness, the chaos, etc.) but he is also so iconic (especially bc of his humor). (He is probably my favorite character, but I'm biased because he is aroace too 😂) Such a contrast with how wholesome and postive Charlie is! (love her too, she's so cute)
I love how they show that for all Vox’s power and control that he’s actually pretty insecure about his position as soon as it’s told to him Al is back. Then Al goes and picks at one of his deeper insecurities ‘that he’s powerless without the other V’s’ because Al knows Vox’s weaknesses which lead him to loosing his signal! How Vox’s technology may be more ‘advanced’ but still runs on RADIO waves is just chef’s kiss! 😩👌 It’s just so good how they show all the bright flashing screens and stuff Vox uses to control Hell’s citizens also are because he’s hella overcompensating to seem more confident and powerful when he’s actually insecure, and of course Al calls him out on it. XD It’s so fucking funny how he warns Val not to do something stupid like trying to go to the hotel. Then as soon as Val tells him Al is back man’s immediately gets so petty and insecure in his position he tries to publicly diss Al on live broadcast only for Al to throw all his insecurities in his face causing him to overload! He’s constantly 30 seconds from a mental breakdown! XD
Yess exactly! Alastor with considerably less resources is way more menacing and imposing than Vox, it's just such a joy to watch. YESSS such a great flip, Vox lost it after showing apparent composure with Valentino, the weakness is so clear. Loving the rivalry so much, need more of them!🔥🔥

Valentino is the best example of amazing writing for a horrible character. The VA really hits it out of the park. And can we all agree that both Angel and Pentious are precious beans that must be protected at all costs?

Also fun little fact, whenever Val is mad or irritated-- he makes moth squeaks 👀 AND whenever Alastor’s horns grow (like when Sir Pent tore on Al’s coat or when Al sang the last verse during ‘Stayed Gone’ you can hear an Elk’s scream that almost sounds like a radio glitch effect )
I also wish you analyzed the environments more-- especially with Vox-- we’ve seen it often in this episode alone how much of a stalker he is- constantly having eyes on people- (cameras) And the relationship between the Three Vees and how threatening they could be in the possible future 👀 ALONG with Vox and Val’s relationship-- How Vox enables Val’s violent tendencies by giving him his “lowest earners” or when Vox pinched his cheek in a condescending way-- Val after the fact also does the same back, their relationship is so interesting to study- two nasty people but obvious enablers showing soft forms of affection
I don't think there was too much to analyze from Vox just based on this ep alone, and your take on the relationships is much more reinforced by behaviors of Vox and the other Vees in next episodes (I just finished the season recently), so I do get more into the dynamics of Vox and the Vees but in the next reactions because there's actually a lot more to analyze. This ep was just the introduction to these characters, asking me to analyze more is a bit off haha.
Honestly every time we get Vaggie just being completely smitten with Charlie I get the biggest smile on my face. She loves her dorky, theater nerd girlfriend so much. Seriously, get you someone who loves and supports you like Vaggie loves and supports Charlie. Alastor just being completely unphased by his and Vox’s rivalry is the best thing. He knows he outclasses Vox.

The song=🔥 The visuals during Masquerade=💔😭 Therefore when I watch the episode I try to focus more on jamming out to the song and not focus on what’s happening to poor Angel Dust. Rarely has there been a character has charmed me as quickly and completely as Charlie. Every moment she's on screen, she just fills me with happiness - which is no guarantee for an overwhelmingly positive character, those can become annoying, but she never is. Just an absolute delight.
Right?! Charlie has been such a joy to watch from the first minute in the pilot, her character gives me so much hope and joy, you totally get it! Can't wait to see where her character might go
Spoilers for anyone who isn't ahead. 2:28 - 2:30 Something to note is you can actually see hellborn in the crowd and throughout the season, the hellhound with red eyes and Imps with the red skin and black & white horns. 2:30 You can also spot reoccurring background characters even from the pilot like the Sinner with one eye, red skin, and 2 incurved horns was at the news station and will be at Val's session with AngelDust. 3:16 It's a easy to miss detail but a sign behind Vox mentions a love potion created between Valentino and Velvette, that is so messed up. Valentino is a moth (you can often hear him squeak like a moth) as he produces pheromones in his saliva which coated in smoke tinted red, it's likely this is where they get the ingredient for the potion and what is being often used on AngelDust, Val is definitely my most hated fictional character. 3:57 It's unlikely there are Sinners old enough to been part of the witch trials as most Sinners don't live long. The oldest we know of (by this episode) is Sir Pentious who is said to of died in 1888 but most are likely under 200 years old. Also Charlie though not a Sinner is even older having an portrait as an adult in the year 1876 (note, both dates are not brought up in the show but things like streams so they may no longer be canon but good to keep in mind). 3:52 - 4:10 Velvette says her model has to "pull herself back" together when referencing the torn body parts and this helps show the crux of hell's problems, when being torn limb from limb _well painful_ is only an inconvenience so why be better. 4:27 - 4:35 You skipped over "kitty" here, well not important they are an interesting character (also has blue interior to show Vox's control over Val's personal assistant). 8:58 I think Vox is angry because of how much power potential Charlie has and how that puts him in danger. To put it in perspective there's 2 cast of demons between Sinners and Charlie who could beat even Alastor so to make a deal with her would make him (nearly) the most powerful in hell. 9:15 As you can see with Fatnuggets hell has its own animals and they are born then live and die in hell, however I'm guessing Vox built those sharks. 20:25 Definitely deer but also Wendigo like we saw this episode as he is a cannibal.

"Is Vox as strong as he proports, or is it based on his support? He'd be powerless without the other Vees!" Honestly, we've only really gotten like... 1 good scene with her, and I'm half convinced both Valentino and Vox would be powerless without Velvet. This whole episode is showing the weaknesses of the Vees, but Velvet is kinda just there chilling and doing her own thing.

I really thought that Vaggie or Alastor would be my favorite character when I saw the pilot, but having seen the full show I am BLOWN away with how much I love Charlie. Leagues above the rest, to me, though Vaggie is still a close second. I know my sister (who also loves and is obsessed with this show) favors Angel Dust, and he seems like a pretty big fan favorite, but for me it's Charlie all the way down baby

Sir Pentious is my second favorite character. I didn’t think Id like him much, but I’ve fallen in love with his character throughout the season.

Rarely has there been a character has charmed me as quickly and completely as Charlie. Every moment she's on screen, she just fills me with happiness - which is no guarantee for an overwhelmingly positive character, those can become annoying, but she never is. Just an absolute delight.
Right?! Charlie has been such a joy to watch from the first minute in the pilot, her character gives me so much hope and joy, you totally get it! Can't wait to see where her character might go

2:28 - 2:30 Something to note is you can actually see hellborn in the crowd and throughout the season, the hellhound with red eyes and Imps with the red skin and black & white horns.
2:30 You can also spot reoccurring background characters even from the pilot like the Sinner with one eye, red skin, and 2 incurved horns was at the news station and will be at Val's session with AngelDust.
3:16 It's a easy to miss detail but a sign behind Vox mentions a love potion created between Valentino and Velvette, that is so messed up.
Valentino is a moth (you can often hear him squeak like a moth) as he produces pheromones in his saliva which coated in smoke tinted red, it's likely this is where they get the ingredient for the potion and what is being often used on AngelDust, Val is definitely my most hated fictional character.
3:57 It's unlikely there are Sinners old enough to been part of the witch trials as most Sinners don't live long.
The oldest we know of (by this episode) is Sir Pentious who is said to of died in 1888 but most are likely under 200 years old.
Also Charlie though not a Sinner is even older having an portrait as an adult in the year 1876 (note, both dates are not brought up in the show but things like streams so they may no longer be canon but good to keep in mind).
3:52 - 4:10 Velvette says her model has to "pull herself back" together when referencing the torn body parts and this helps show the crux of hell's problems, when being torn limb from limb _well painful_ is only an inconvenience so why be better.
4:27 - 4:35 You skipped over "kitty" here, well not important they are an interesting character (also has blue interior to show Vox's control over Val's personal assistant).
8:58 I think Vox is angry because of how much power potential Charlie has and how that puts him in danger.
To put it in perspective there's 2 cast of demons between Sinners and Charlie who could beat even Alastor so to make a deal with her would make him (nearly) the most powerful in hell.
9:15 As you can see with Fatnuggets hell has its own animals and they are born then live and die in hell, however I'm guessing Vox built those sharks.
20:25 Definitely deer but also Wendigo like we saw this episode as he is a cannibal.

Honestly, we've only really gotten like... 1 good scene with her, and I'm half convinced both Valentino and Vox would be powerless without Velvet. This whole episode is showing the weaknesses of the Vees, but Velvet is kinda just there chilling and doing her own thing.
That's true, good observation! Barely seen of Velvette, but wasn't going totally insane the way Valentino and Vox were, can't wait to see more and share more thoughts on the Vees!

I really thought that Vaggie or Alastor would be my favorite character when I saw the pilot, but having seen the full show I am BLOWN away with how much I love Charlie. Leagues above the rest, to me, though Vaggie is still a close second. I know my sister (who also loves and is obsessed with this show) favors Angel Dust, and he seems like a pretty big fan favorite, but for me it's Charlie all the way down baby

I watch a lot of true crime shows so I know a lot of real life SA stories and the fact a fictional show can hit me in the feels just as much as the IRL SA stories, it’s amazing writing.
