@ChelseaDan5 rightfully highlighted to myself (@VinnieSull1van), the drastic changes that have taken place in #Brentford. #GriffinPark was once the home to a stadium that was enclosed by lovely terrace housing. A unique & special pub world existed around the old stadium which we discuss in the video.
The new stadium offers little joy in comparison with the old and highlights both the importance of pubs and football and how they're so indebted to each other.
The wonderful @TheGriffin_TW8 welcomed us & allowed us to film in their stunning public house. More of the #Griffin pub will be released in a separate video where we will thank them once again.

Great video, nice to see most of the pubs still alive. Gotta be 75% of pubs in the area shut when we moved from Upton Park, most of the ones remaining very different.

Hard to find Brentford’s away end in the high rise

“This probably is a much greater representation of Brentford F.C and it’s memories than the new stadium will ever be” - fucking amen to that!
Visited the new one a couple times and it’s utter shite in every aspect. Up there with West Ham and Brighton’s as the worst in the Prem. Criminal what happened to Griffin Park (along with so many other stadiums), and the first pub you mentioned.

You are only looking on the surface. Yes Griffin Park was a great old ground but the club was dying. I would have preferred to stay there but there was no way to survive financially. The new ground is not so bland the architecture is unusual for a football stadium but most importantly there is a thriving fanbase. The club has a strong family and community ethos so it is a pleasure to visit.

Tell that to Leyton Orient, home and culture above cash and success

@@britainslostlivingpubs Leyton Orient was not hemmed in by houses on all sides. There was no room whatsoever for development.

@davidm7237 doesn't matter, brentford, like stratford/Leyton, never needed modern growth but to maintain culture. You've no argument other than the downfall of a world worth living in

The new stadium and its surroundings are an abomination.
