@@andyc7777 I was able to get one for $90 US and it came with a charger and game. I think prices on the collectors market have been going up as a whole recently though
Getting tired of waiting for my buddy to get around to modding his SP. So I just ordered one of these kits for him. Affordable, simple, and will definitely be worthy upgrade for his childhood AGS-001. Now, if only it were an AGB-001, then it would be truly awesome. lol
UPDATE! Apparently this kit was just updated to have a metal shielding attached that can be removed to access the board, but the screen is also laminated now so you can't remove the screen lens like I did. Aaaaand now they have a new listing on AliExpress with the red lens so that screen died for nothing RIP. You can grab the red lens version here: tinyurl.com/mv7xk8fz If you are a part of the 99% who are gonna leave the screen lens alone, the installation process is the same. You just don't have to assemble the screen anymore. It’s actually even easier for you guys now!
Thanks to your vid, I just realised that the Modded Gameboy advanced my gf got me has that touch screen brightness adjustment lol I thought I was stuck with one brightness mode. So thank you soo much
Dude your SUBSCRIBE button started glowing when you said subscribe. Is that a manual feature in UA-cam studio you added, or is this something new UA-cam has added on their end?? Either way, new sub from me!
Jake, love the videos. I want to keep my oem shell and buttons but still want to upgrade the screen. Is this the best option for that? The screen does look a little off centered
With the SP’s buttons you need to be careful. You don’t want liquid seeping into the dome switches. I recommend getting a toothbrush wet with IPA and cleaning the board that way. I would still avoid the buttons though. Also, no liquid around the screen
Wait so I just got a famicom gameboy and would love to keep the red screen would it be possible to peel off the screen like you did to a ITA screen from retro gaming repair shop? I’ll just make sure to heat it up so it will peel easily
Jake man love the videos got me an SP didn't know if it worked I had to buy a charger well when I plug it in the light flashes for just a sec and will not hold charge so I bought battery and it is on the way any other advice or is my sp fried also the original battery does not seemed to be bulged if ya see this and reply Thanks much my dude!!!
@Jake Simmons yoJake battery came in today and that was the problem old thing fired right up now time for this mod wish me luck! I feel lile watching your videos I got this mod in the bag so I hope!!
@Jake Simmons jake idk if you'll see this but another question I got the battery and when I plug in the charger the orange light comes on for a second and off would I need to replace the charging port? I can't seem to find a video on it if you have one. Thanks agin
@@badguyfishing2344 I’m working on a video that goes over all of the most common game boy issues across all of the models. There is a section about the charging issues on the sp. I’m trying to get it finished for tomorrow but it’ll probably be delayed until next week

Idk if it's just me but you're website doesn't seem to be working for me. It goes to it but there's nothing to click on. Lots of just empty black spaces.
You hear me? But I just got here I didn't say anything.
i encourage everyone to learn soldering!
Looks like I’m gonna be checking eBay for a non childhood SP! Thanks for these walkthroughs. They help me so much
How were the prices a year ago? They're currently kinda pricey in the UK

Nah I like the touch pad option, ima get one now. Your workstation pad is also pretty neat.
Thanks bro, Just modded my first GBA sp with the help of this vid 👍👍
Soldering is half the fun tho!!

But will this red screen still have the game boy advanced sp logo in gold?
Yes, it does have it in gold! @@Jason-sz6ep

I think it’s a new UA-cam feature but thank you haha
Wouldnt it possibly work to change the wire for the touch brightness control to a longer one and then solder that to the brightness button?
No

Hi, I have a game boy the fat old one the gray one is there anyway I can make it into an SP Game Boy advance and install the shell
hi,
will the backlight buton still works with this mod ?
thanks for the review ;)
where do you get a replacement case & buttons for the famicom shell?
Your videos are helping. thanks
awesome video 👍👍
Nice but I just want a *BIGGER* screen on my GBA SP!
Or is the regular GBA more suited for a bigger screen Mod... Or maybe even the GBC? Help pls :/
Get a gameboy player for home use. That screen should be big enough for you.
Can I get a link to the second screen you used to add my red famicom lense on it?
to use or not to use IPA for cleaning? one video i watched you mentioned to not use IPA.

It’s most likely a bad battery. It could also be a bad fuse or even an issue with the charge port. Hopefully it’s just the battery though

are the touch sensors removable on the new model
Would the touch sensors work in boxie pixel metal unhinged gba sp shell?
I don’t know. I’ve never used a boxy pixel SP shell
Does this work for the ags 001 and 101 the same way?
Does modding the gameboy make it run faster? Because that's what I'm aftet
So what exactly does this mod do? Just changes screen brightness?
So IPS screens for the gba also work in the gba sp?!?
Yeah a lot of kits are the same screen with a different ribbon cable. Not all of them though

Will this work with the 001 or do I need a 101

Could you DM me on Instagram screenshots of what it looks like for you? A couple people have said this and I haven’t been able to recreate it myself
