    Still love to here your Good Morning 😀💞 I love to watch you on your adventures of your homeland. It is absolutely beautiful like you say. Here in California where I live in Los Angeles it was 121 degrees two days ago. So to see the green and rain ⛈ 🌧 there is great. Or as you say Absolutely Wounderfull. Also here the Firss all over California and the Sairras, the most in recorded history 🥵🤔😪 there is smoke everywhere 😳. I am going for Spine surgery this week but I am Planning to go to Mammoth for a week to see the Mountains , Devils Postpile, and Rainbow 🌈 Falls. No backpacking just slow old man walking 😀.
    I LOVE THIS VEDIO you always seem to cheer me up. Ge

    Love your wonderful videos, Mary! They're wonderful because you put so much of yourself into them. After being thrilled by your epic PCT adventures, I'm entranced by your Yorkshire homeland. Having lived most of my life in Colorado, I'm accustomed to the American West, so I find England to be beautiful in a different way, even a bit exotic!
    Oops? You said, regarding Gormire Lake, "This is one of only three natural lakes in England". Maybe you meant to say that it is only one of four natural lakes in Yorkshire.

    Cool Stroll - I love hikes like the one you're doing - everchanging, little, unique mini environments to wander through, with their own ambience, moods, and vibes. Thanks for the geese laughs - I used to have a couple, when I lived on acreage, and they were better than watchdogs. Nice, colorful butterfly shot in the wheatgrass.

    Good morning Mary and Derek! I think the geese were expecting to be fed. The "finest" view in England reminds me of Canaan Valley in West Virginia. Even a honey bee knows that Tinkerbell is animal friendly. That red butterfly is so pretty. The heather field is so gorgeous . Mary, another excellent video. Thank you for sharing. What a lovely trail! When the sun is out the green of the countryside is incredible. And I Thank You for allowing me to learn something new today. My grandmother raised all her children in a city in the state of Ohio here in the US called Cleveland, so I was curious who the trail there might have been named after. After a bit of a search, Cleveland actually comes from ‘cliff-land’ in an older version of English. That was so interesting to learn. I would not have discovered this if it had not been for watching your video. And I’m only a few minutes in! ☺️. Can’t wait to see what other fun things await discovery. 👍

      Mary Mansfield I’m loving Pembrokeshire so far, it’s stunning! Yes Hadrian’s Wall is amazing because you get national park + you’re following a wall that’s nearly 2000 years old and get all the interesting Roman history with that! There’s a bit of city walking at either end but the middle section through Northumberland is incredible

      Hi Gary, you will have a great time the route is really good. It is well signposted but there are a few places which are a bit tricky so take either a map/guidebook or plot it in advance on an app maybe. There are some mean climbs and descents on the coastal sections so work on building up those quads 😆 Let me know if I can help with anything else!

    This is my second time watching this! I’m thinking this might be a great trip for my husband and I to take for our 10 year anniversary in 2022. He is visually impaired so needs to avoid very rocky and uneven ground. Do you have suggestions for other walks in the UK that might be good for him? (Clear dirt paths are best). Thank you so much!

    • @MarysOutdoorAdventures
      @MarysOutdoorAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      It is a great trail - although the coastal sections are a little uneven in places, especially near the end. In the Peak District there are a lot of trails with great accessibility but would you be looking for something more in the hills?
      The day hikes I would suggest would be the Monsal Trail, Longdendale Trail, Langsett and Manifold Way (which I will be filming soon). If it is a longer distance one the Great Glen Way from what I remember was really great to hike with good tracks most of the way. If I think of any more I will be sure to let you know.

    Is this what they call the Yorkshire "Dales"? I read James Herriot's books as a kid and really enjoyed them. I have been wondering where you two would be staying -- either in hotels and inns or "wild camping" (to use the British term). I know that you cannot just camp anywhere in England, so I am interested in the strategy of how you pick where you will stay. If you are not camping, you don't need either a sleeping bag (or quilt) or a tent, or much in the way of food (you "resupply" as you go through each town). So, less weight, right? It also looks like there is plenty of water, so do you filter as you go?

    • @jimbobh1965
      @jimbobh1965 4 роки тому +1

      This is more North Yorkshire moors, the Dales are a little west of this area.

    • @MarysOutdoorAdventures
      @MarysOutdoorAdventures  4 роки тому +1

      No it it the North Yorkshire Moors, as Jimbo commented the Dales are further to the west. We didn't wild camp or camp at all as some of the grounds are closed due to Covid restrictions, plus it was nice not to carry all the extra weight! We picked where we would stay based on the mileage we wanted to do each day and then researched popular destinations that offered accommodation that fit into our plans. We did a mix of Youth Hostel, a farmers barn (in a remote section), some Airbnb's and a Hotel.
      We didn't need to filter water as we filled up what we needed in bottles each morning (plus a hot flask which was worth the added weight).
