We fished Galveston Bay,Freeport/Surfside,
San Louis pass,as I grew up around Brazoria,(the birth place of Buckees)and close to the first capital of the Republic of Texas.

Great vid, i live in Houston and just came back home from Galveston after slapping some reds Sunday night!!! 3 of us limited with 6 reds that night and a few specks. I had a 26 incher and a 33 incher.

I've been hit by a stingray, and I'm here to tell you, It was the worst pain I've ever felt, and I have broken many bones and ran a piece of steal completely through my hand. It's not the sting/hit that hurts the worst, it's the pain that hits you about an hour later and lasts for hours! I got hit in the forearm when trying to release around a 40lb ray, and about two hours later I was hurting so bad I wanted someone to just cut my damn arm off! lol.

Mullet Man the fish you caught that you said was a sheepshead was actually a black drum. Still great eating fish though!
Picking a flats boat all depends on where and how you like to fish. Flats boat hull designs also run and operated differently than bass or bay boats. Some can get a bit "skippy" or wonky at speed. It is important to know how to operate them safely and to minimize their impact on the flats grasses. You may also come out cheaper finding an older model of a hull design you like, and redecking it custom to exactly what you want. That said....

Look into getting a newwater boat. It’s a technical poling skiff, which gets you as shallow as you can possibly get. They’re outside of San Antonio. Great group of people down there

if you want a shallow flats boat...or marsh boat...go check out Sabine Skiff...made right in LaPorte, TX. It's an all aluminum poling skiff. Great for the marsh around galveston. Don't have to worry about the shell messing up your fiberglass.
your best bet would probably be a majek illusion, can cross bays bone dry and get up in inches of water .. now if you want a skiff get an ibis or maverick... chittums are nice too but not many in texas

The last time I was their the water was full of jelly fish. I went on the boat that takes your car across and it looked as if every inch of the water was covered in jellys. I hope you have better luck than me.

Trans cat, haynie cat, some type of catamaran. Very stable. Will run super shallow and takes on rough water when needed to run deep.
East Cape Skiff or Shallow Sport Boat. Both boats are sick!
New subscriber here. Check out the flats boats at BoatRight marine, not far from Galveston in Friendswood. Mine is almost 30 years old and as good as the day I bought it. No pretty fiberglass or gelcoat for me. They are 1/8" welded aluminum and bulletproof.
