The Lowell George era Little Feat were one of the greatest live bands to ever play. They were astounding live.
I saw them four times with Lowell. One of the best American bands of the 70's, no doubt at all.
I totally agree. Much better live than in the studio. Waiting For Columbus is one of the best live albums ever!
Lowell didn't keep his "eyes on the road that's ahead of you." I miss him so much. To think that he could have spent the last 34 years making music, like Ry Cooder and John Hyatt has, makes me miss him that much more. "All That You Dream" was the national anthem for any 20-something, growing upduring the seventies, who valued Little Feat as much as anything worth living for. Now that we're old, we look backwards.
sorting my mind out aftr she just wemt to the after life--i cryed and hugged her the last time and the words came out Little Feet---looked it up here they were all along...
@@mikemestas9835 So sorry bro. Keep the faith & stay alive. Peace & love to you &😪 yours.
Damn, this band never got the accolades they deserve, one on the best rock bands when rock was at its peak.
How about a word for Richie Hayward? Watch this again and listen for the drums. Amazing. Percussion is a perfect fit for the song and perfectly played.
Such a tasteful drummer. Sophisticated but not flashy or ostentatious
I once had a Spiritual Experience to this Song. Anyone else?
The tightest groove anywhere. Brilliant. Saw the boys on a Warners triple bill in Pasadena, 1970s, with Ry Cooder and Captain Beefheart. Oh, for a time machine!
The most underrated band ever?
Yes indeed.
Imagine seeing this line up,
Marshall tucker
Lynard Skynard
Allman Brothers
Little Feat
Grateful Dead
They could each put on a 4 -5 hour session back to back .
Why the question mark at the end of your comment? They definitely were and are the most underrated band...👣
Lowell George remains one of my most cherished musical heroes. The music Little Feat made was so effing good... nobody comes close to this true American band.
I always loved hearing them on the radio, growing up...now that I have UA-cam music premium, I'm loving Lowell George and the rest of the Feats!!*
I'm hooked on their videos...
And we all started singing along...I'll be your Dixie Chicken if you'll be my Tennessee Lamb ...
Certainly great, but thank God they're not the only great American/Americana band. Thank God!
@@krysti2 LOL. Just listening to this and about halfway through I couldn't help singing along.
Little Feat, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Poco. All criminally underated!
The unsung engine: Take a bow for Richie Hayward!
You know he went on to play with Robert Plant on his post led zep work in 80s
Simply one of the best bands out of the 70's.
What about village people? I’m being an idiot. I can remember being 7 and my siblings were dancing to village people on a New Year’s Eve tv show and my parents were cracking up. They were stones , CCRand Elton John fans
Not only the 70s...compare them to today's offerings....I'll still take them.
I worked as a stagehand for the band at Brown U, less than a later than this video. Stage crewed for Lowell on his solo tour a few days before he died. Never forget either night.
Only Little Feat fans know what "finese jams" are This band is pure from one side of the stage to the other
“Rainy days, they turn to sunny ones”
Just so tight. The perfect mix of musicians. My favortite band since 1974
Such a giant band, have never gotten their due.
Happy 70th Birthday to Lowell, age 34. Still killin it somewhere I'm certain. Always missed.
Waiting For Columbus is the best sounding live album recorded...Tower Of Power horns were amazing
RIP Paul - this song will live on forever in our memory
They were so good live. Particularly right around this time. Lowell in coveralls. What a hoot. Band was so loose and so tight all at the same time. Best Rhythm Section in all of Christendom. Payne is so good. Great ensemble player great soloist. Love the sound he got out of that OBERHEIM SYNH. Fare thee well Lowell. Solo Career killed him, it literally did.
These boys were so talented, makes me sad for what might have been. Outstanding performance.
Whatever else you want to say about this, you gotta love the energy George puts into his vocals.
Their very first gig was in Cincinnati Ohio at a club called Reflections. I escorted Lowell George to the stage, he paid me a fabulous compliment. Years later I actually met Bill Payne through Lynn Orman Weiss and was able to sing and record with him. This is MY favorite song of theirs.🌹
What an awesome live sound. This song just hits the spot every time. Long live Little Feat!
My Parents adored Lowell George and Little Feat.. They saw them two nights in a row in Sydney Australia in the 70's. Each night front row and Lowell handed them each night a autographed Maracca...
Love the way Lowell bops onstage
UA-cam needs a "LOVE" button!
David Crosby thought Little Feat one of the very best old bands....
And he's not an easy pleaser...true they are...
Was fortunate to see them!
Feats never fail especially when Lowell was alive. A great and tragic loss. So glad this video survives.
This is saying THE LEAST. ..."Money spent on a Little Feat ticket is money well spent."
Saw them 4 times before Lowell passed. When Little Feat played, my feets started dancing!
Saw the feat with traffic in the late 70s. They got 3 encores a d stole the show. Other that Tom Petty it was the best live show I've ever seen. GREAT LIVE BAND.!
Hmm. I saw Little Feat back in the day. Never caught Tom Petty. That would've been pretty cool.
That was a contrast in musical styles. Traffic was sooo laid back beginning with Low Spark.
Watching Lowell George play guitar is an object lesson in tasteful guitar playing. Like a horn player, he never crowds out the vocals or other instruments. The space between the notes matters as much as the notes themselves.
why isn't Lowell George in the rock hall, but Madonna is???????
The rock 'n roll hall of shame isn't relevant. Just like the roscoe's aren't relevant to real film makers.
Richie Hayward = Rollin' Thunder. The Feat just can't be beat.
I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
All, all that you dream
Comes through shinin silver lining
Clouds, clouds change the scene
Rain starts washing all these cautions
Right into your life, makes you realize
Just what is true, what else can you do
You just follow the rule
Keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you
I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
All of the good, good times were ours
In the land of milk and honey
And time, time adds its scars
Rainy days they turn to sunny ones
Livin' the life, livin' the life lovin' everyone
I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
I've been down, but not like this before
I like that comment about this song being a national anthem for anyone growing up in the 70s.
This song and anything else Little Feat made rocks....
Absolutely awesome band and version of this great tune.
Richie and Lowell were made for each other.
Richie was such an underrated drummer, his syncopation was amazing. Other drummers really dug him.
My Favorite Song of Little Feat, followed by Old Folks Boogie ( "You know that you're over the hill, when your mind makes a promise that your body can't fill"...) I am getting there....but my mind is still invested in the old and fabulous rock and roll bands like Little Feat....even when I get over the hill! Pennsylvania Fan.
These guys are true survivors in preaching the eternal groove!
After much study, his guitar playing exquisite, his song writing pure genius...but his VOICE.
Always a great show. I've prob seen them 6 or 7 times. Once with Lowell George at the Fox Theater in St. Louis a few years before he passed. So much talent at every instrument. Amazing show.
These guys had more than their share of ups and downs, but when they were right.. My God what a band! I've been fortunate to attend my share of fantastic concerts in my lifetime, including some of the legends (Hendrix, Zeppelin, The Who, Allmans, Police, Pink Floyd), and admittedly, for nearly all of them I was deeply under the influence of one or more illegal substances (including Feat), but to this day, I can vividly recall almost every single moment of Little Feat in 1977. How cool is that?
Oh yes!! This is one of the best,if not THE best
song that they ever wrote and played..such a great band..yeah..
RIP Paul. You wrote an awesome song here.
I got to Germany in 1979 and the German radio station SWF3 was still playing this concert on late night tracks along with interviews with the band!
his soul has been my co-pilot ever since.
TIME: Summer of '75 PLACE: Connecticut River valley. Was hangin' out with a few coworkers and friends late one sunny summer morning smoking a few fat ones, listening to Dixie Chicken, enjoying a sweet "buzz" when suddenly our friend Arthur ,who was quietly reading Rolling Stone magazine said, and I quote, "it says here that Mick Jagger says Little Feat is his current favourite band. We who were all gathered in the living room of our rental house quietly enjoying listening to Feat with a glow collectively looked blankly, feeling altogether perfect, said nothing in response to our good friends news announcement. 😎 That's one of my more memorable moments listening to this GREAT BAND! "Where's my time machine? I wanna go back !"
Hey Lordo, imagine seeing a Little Feat show at the Goodspeed Opera House. That would be a total trip as we used to say back in the day!!!
Probably one of the best I've seen! Opened for Stevie Ray. Played 3 hours!
WOW! - That would have been an amazing gig. Loved Lowell George & Little Feat since early 70s & have never let go. I never saw them live in Oz - wish I'd been in the States for longer to enjoy. SRV, the same - absolute legend - wish I'd seen him live. That as a double has to left a huge imprint on you. Lucky person. xxG
Sam, Richie, Paul, Kenny, Bill and Lowell : THANKS for the Music ! Genuine love...
I've been to 184 dead shows, 178 Allman brothers shows, but the feat at toad's place in new haven was my all time fav. Thx for the post....
What year did you see Little Feat at Toads Place? It's not a big venue at all. I used to see my friends the Simms Brothers band play there alot back in the 70s.
What a great loss much too soon. And what a musical treasure of a band we can still enjoy.
True Music Geniuses.
Little Feat rocks.
It's that simple.
I wish I had been able to see them live before concert tickets became so expensive. I like be their qwerky rhythms ,the best drummer , keyboard player and all the singing members created a great sound! No one like Little Feat! I have to dance when I hear their music!!❤
I am still in love with this band just like this!!!!
It just doesn’t get any better than this, equal perhaps… but never better.
One of the first concerts I went to was Little Feat at the Lisner auditorium the night before Lowell George died. ❤️✌️
appreciate this more today, than ever. so glad to have been suckin in air when we was ALL fab. what a band...what a god damn band. Paul departed yesterday..so I am fillin up on his essence. the music he made still fills the air!
not a country music fan, but i luvs me some Little Feat...oh man back in the day
Man, it just doesn't get any better than this! What a great performance!
I have many bands that I have seen in my life but little FEAT has and will always have a sound u and funk that is special and loved by all.... GIVE ME A F !E !A !T! 🎉
👂
Little Feat is as good as ever today, you just have to find them.
Thanks Feat for a lifetime of joy
It's time to put Little Feat in the Rock Hall!!!😎✌❤🎶
What a great freaking song and live jam. This video brings back many wonderful memories of Little Feat and Lowell George in the 70s. 1977 was a magical year for their music and for their fans. To see Lowell and Richie (RIP) play in this was like being back at Warner Theater. Indeed still the best live band ever. So grateful for and gracious to their fans. I dare you to sit down at a Feat show! If your feet ain't moving to Feat's beat you ain't got no soul in those sailing shoes Sally!
I so agree with that statement! So lucky to see them in concert as well in late 1977. Plus double lucky, since Lowell George was still alive!
I have five Cd's compiled for my truck...90% are Little Feat songs w a few other bluesy songs thrown in from SRV and BB...never grow tired of this music like so many others...there is life in those tunes....
Little Feat is like no other Since 69 still at it
He had SUCH a range of a voice... still miss him
Was an honor to see Paul before he passed live In Oakland
so much to love in this video. thanks so much for uploading. One of my all time favorites.
Great quality. God they were so great. I miss Lowell and Richie..Happy Birthday Lowell. RIP
Little Feat in their prime. Had the privelige to see them in 1976, also post Lowell in 2001 in Australia. The greatest band I've ever seen.
Keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you............where are we going? There is such a dearth of such from from the gut music getting their deserving exposure that I am glad to know these guys have maintained just enough word of mouth(and ear) that musicians in development stages of their craft have have an idea of what can be done if you stick to your heart,
This tour came through the Midwest. My friends say they got quite stoned at the concert, and that Lowell was real good.
My favourite band ,and the most talented band of all time xxxx
The finest live intro bar none. Outstanding performance, love it.
Aw my late older brother had all their vinyl 33"inch LP collection...which he still has in his garage at his home & even thou he has gone to that after life above..his LP collections which he has over 1,000..still gets played today..to remember..my bro...of all the bands that he had collected over the years until his dying day back on March 1st 2010 in Auckland New Zealand....his favorite band of all time was Jimi Hendrix...Pink Floyd, Santana..Little Feat..etc..
The year I graduated from high school! I was dating a guy in a band who played Feat. But I had loved Feat since I was 13!
Rest easy Paul. Miss you already 😢
Damn Im old now but I still love guitar and smoking killer weed.
The first time I heard them on the radio this song I knew I was fan for life.
I was a graduateRN and every chance we'd go out n dance! LOVED LF . There has never been a group like them. Noone can/ could replace Lowell !! Still listening to them. OMG! please keep playing these♥️♥️
I imparted wisdom to my son and gave him Little Feat. He is now 35 When he was seven his first concert was Little Feat. He recites Willin effortlessly.
Yes , thanks for all the beautiful music
How come some people actually dislike this song? I reckon the two-minute intro is some of the finest rock musicianship ever, and the rest of the song is as near to f***ing perfect as makes no difference. What's not to like!! Listen to this every day and it'll sound better every time.
One of The Best band Ever!
I saw Little Feat at the Capital Theater in Passaic NJ in ,1976, We we're seated and enjoying a in completely different Band . We were there on the wrong night.
We went back 2 days later to see if Leon Redmond open for Little Feat
Ya gotta love these guys!!
The man is missed sorely...;>(
I'll never forget the show at GW, and waking to hear that Lowell had died of an overdose. Always spiritual listening to live version of any of their tunes.
the rockpalast concert was beast!
Wish I could have seen this band LIVE!! LITTLE FEAT🤘 They were UNIQUE, one of a kind band... played such a mixture of funk, soul, rock, blues!! Pure ball of 🔥🔥🔥✨️❤️🔥🤘💃🏻
You are right on, Mr. Walker!
I wish I could have seen Little Feat during their prime! But I do have many albums! I am very fortunate!
Little Bit of Trivia for you: In a 1975 interview in Rolling Stone magazine, Jimmy Page said that Little Feat was his favorite American band
I understand that Steely Dan was Page's favorite and Little Feat was Mick Jagger and Mick Taylor's favorite.
Richie always looks like he is having so much fun, miss these guys.
saw these guys at yale u. he wore the same overalls.awesome show
Band already on fire 🔥!!!
Lowell George : Wait hand me my Strat 🎸 !!!
I was watching this on german TV that night in ´77, and man, from this night on I had one more favourite band! I´ve always been a guitar player in many bands. But when I asked them to play this song, the answer always was "oh, nobody knows that song". Still looking for a band that doesn´t have this sentence in their repertoire. I play el. and ac. guitars, and pedal steel guitar.
Just the greatest...
Saw them twice post Lowell, in UK at the Hammersmith Odeon and later at the Town and Country Club in Kentish Town..
That last one a good radio recording by the BBC... great memories, thanks guys.
.
If any band ever deserved to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame it’s this one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However, the R n R HOF is bogus, They inducted garage bands, rap, and Nat King Cole! Its a biased organization. The merchandise center is Cleveland is cool.
