I was in Minneapolis 22 years ago on a ball park tour when I went to the MetroDome. I still remember the multitude of skyways and I do remember how vibrant the city was in July. I will be back this week, this time to see Target Field. I am hoping that it is a little bit more vibrant the next few days. But it still looks like a nice city. Thank you for taking the time to shoot the videos.
Looks like temperature in the high 50s- 60s! Most are walking with a jacket on. Zeros snow! 67 degrees?🤭 I remember downtown when it was booming just a couple of years ago.😊
I worked downtown in the mid to late’90’s and that may have been the start of the decline. The city would give huge tax credits to get businesses to stay or build downtown. I think employees would have preferred suburbs with free parking at that time. Now most people work at home. It’s all changed now.
On my bucket list to visit since The Mary Tyler Moore Days! In December 2022, for my birthday, I finally made it! Fell in love with the city and people! I was able to visit all the outside filming sites of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which literally placed Minneapolis on the map! I have been a fan since my youth! I also visited The Guthrie Theater and watched A Christmas Carol. What an amazing play! Got to tour The Gold Medal Factory and walk Stone Arch Bridge in the snow!!! Overall, Minneapolis, you stole my heart!

yes we do. He wasn't anywhere near where there is a problem. The crime, theft, and vandalism is so bad target is closing its downtown store. HE doesn't cross the bridge into little mogadishu. He avoids the government center, stays out of the parks, and is there in the afternoon. 3 hours later murders, rapes, muggings, car jackings homeless take over. Downtown Minneapolis is a joke.

Two reason: 1. No shopping anymore, retailers have shut their doors due to lack of customers traffic, 2. High crime at night time hours 10 P.M.-3 A.M😂 discourage citizens from visiting downtown during daytime hours. The local news outlets are still hiding the daily crimes and help the local politicians with the message that the city is coming back campaign started back in January 2021 and continuing on. They seem to have forgotten that many people get their news through social media and local message forums now. They do not watch the local news.
Thanks to COVID, lots of people are still working from home, and as stated, many businesses didn't survive and after dark it is hard to see the dead bodies on the sidewalks, so you trip all the time!
Was down (well up) there a few days back. Went to 1st Ave. Took a pic in front of the Prince mural. Downtown was empty, and it seems that a lot of the restaurants closed for a good chunk of time around lunch. Beautiful place. Rode the train back to St. Paul. Went to some charity baseball game in St. Paul, where y'all football team played baseball against each other. Not sure what it was for but it was a great event. Everyone was friendly. Couldn't believe the cigarillos were $5 for 1 pk. Here in South Texas they're $0.99!
Looks really dead there now. I went up in that skyscraper as it's very historic and 5 years ago there were a lot more people around that block. I hear tons of businesses have left. Really sad. I really liked the city. This looks a lot like other major cities in the US. Sacramento which I visited for a week looked even worse than this. Oddly New England cities like Boston are busier than ever now. Hear its the same in Portland Maine. Really weird country we live in.
I agree. Minneapolis used to be a busy and fun town, especially on the evenings and weekends. Not anymore, unfortunately. I've never been to Boston - that's encouraging. Thanks for your comments!
11:25 made my day. It's so lovely to see people appreciating the police in Minneapolis. I know they had a rough patch, and watching people see past that is excellent.
I live in NYC and I haven't found a city that can compare to it , most of these cities are slow and empty and quite like it's 4 on a Friday and a ghost town lol 😆
How is NYC these days? I plan on stopping by there in a few weeks after not being there for 4 years. Up in Boston it's busier and more crowded than before the pandemic. I think rent prices there are up 33% from before Covid. All the west coast cities are ghost towns. Guess it's the same in the midwest.
Minneapolis used to actually have some unquie personality, it lost alot of that when Daytons became Marshal-Feilds/Macys, also it didn't help that a bunch of transplants have helped turn it into just another generic city, outside of going to a Twins Game or Vikings game, there is no reason to be downtown or in Minneapolis in genereral. The whole place is unsafe and dosen't offer anything wothwhile anyways.
Used to be a breath taking city. Skyways we're packed & vibrant. Was empty before Covid. City over improved & forced businesses out. We do have Great food.
Don't forget to mention the crime in the skyway. Yes it is very impressive. Also the blue line / green line "train". Great place for gang members to chill between assaults.
@@paigeawin why get rid of it? All that it needs is for there to be ticket barriers around stations so people can’t just hop on for free and live on it

Hi Kevin, I'm Dennis Daniels from Cleveland, Ohio! Thanks for sharing your video about your walking tour of Downtown Minneapolis!
thank you for this tour! I really like your style. I’m visiting from Vancouver and I’m looking forward to doing this walk.
I grew up in Minnesota and seeing downtown Minneapolis on Fridays looking deserted is very sad. I am currently living in Arizona.
Arizona is beautiful. Smart move.
I used to work in the Foshay tower, years ago, for a dentist. Loved working in that building!
I stayed at the hotel five or so years ago. It was really nice. I really like that they preserved the building.
