- Walk by Geoff Seelinger
Revisit Minneapolis in the early 80s from a walker's POV. This is a trippy 1983 journey from one part of Minneapolis to another. It begins with a guy who can hardly move. He slowly gains stuttered motion and utters basic letter sounds, then begins a real and imaginary walk. His journey is from his view - floating. At the end of this walk, he meets a friend. Walk's film surface is hand worked and street noise is composed as music-concrete. 16mm B/W 3
This video makes me pretty sad, I was 18 or 19 when this was shot I'm 52 now. I use to live on 25th & Pleasant Ave S. this film Just brings back a flood of memories and friends I've lost. David Ramsey, Louis Lodermeier, Don Tinsley, Virginette Schomer, Mel & Terry Fulton, Charlie Schomer, my uncle's,
Prudence Lake, Larry Paulsen, the Lodermeier family, Bill Brooks, Warren & Connie Johnson, David Jordan, Denise Silverman, Dwane, Bob Meeks, and everyone else I have missed R.I.P
This is fantastic! As for the date, it looks like "Room With a View" is playing at the Uptown, and that was released in Spring of 1985, so that footage must have been shot then.
Classic! The black and white makes it look older then it is. Still, lot's of this stuff doesn't exist anymore.
this is awesome to see. i'd love to see someone re-create this in 2012 and split screen the shots.. well, don't know how much i'd 'love' it, but you'd certainly get the shots of people on cell phones in there..
Scarpelli's at 7:58 ! If I recall, that was where Rudolph's BBQ is now.
I cannot tell you how many times I walked this same route between downtown and uptown at this very same pocket of Time. Thanks for bringing me back to the best summer of my life when I was 19 and rented a room in an old Victorian at Franklin & Aldrich
This is fascinating to watch. I love 80s footage like this! Especially when it's local. I see the Uptown theater is still recognizable.
Minneapolis Minnesota was just like this in 1983 because I went to the Downtown area often for something to do.
I remember that guy in White Castle that day. I was wondering what he was up to.
At 12:10 the Conservatory was being built. Heh.
@indiemusicresources I will volunteer to do this!
That's right. I remember now.
