Like you Michael, I have ummed and errred over whether to buy comics omnibuses only to have them sell out and turn up on the secondary market at outrageous prices. I learned my lesson the hard way too.
I'm pleased that Roger finally used his alchemical skills in your favour, I'm sure the solid gold bidet is a talking point with guests.

very enjoyable - one of my picks would be 'Out Of Space And Time' - Clark Ashton Smith - the Arkham House Edition - very expensive! - keep up the good work Michael and hello to Roger!

Like a profligate rake I went and bought that Arkham House edition of The House on the Borderland, but I have not looked back. It's now the jewel of my shelves and gets taken down once in a while to be handled like a venerated relic. And it is good to look upon. Got for ~$300 just by watching saved ebay searches. I got some '20s editions of Hodgson's works the same way

I had two copies of The Outsider and Others when I was still wealthy enough to have collectible books on my shelves. One was in far better shape than the other, but I sold both to help pay the rent one month. Ah, the mistakes I've made.

That “House on the Borderland” looks like an absolute beaut. I think you should treat yourself to a couple of these once the 500 challenge is over..

People sure are are obsessed with that Colossal Conan book. Omar of Near Mint Condition is interviewing Titan Comic`s publisher and the #1 viewer question is about reprinting that book in the Colossal size. Not the new comics coming out, not the continuation of the Savage Sword omnibus line, but that book. FYI there are no plans to remake it.

Some tasty choices, I would be interested to see this with collected comics and even ten single issues .. mostly influenced by the fact one of my most wanted books is volume one of the Tarpe Mills Miss Fury, Sensational Sundays comic strips from the 40s.

I'd like to read the House on the Borderland. I just discovered the witty writing of Raymond Chandler in my first read by him, The Big Sleep. I'm really enjoying it and I look forward to reading his other novels.

I don't need the Irish first editions of Hodgson's novels, but I'd really, really like them. However, I do have the Arkham House edition of 'The House on the Borderland', which was sold to me by Brian Lumley, and contains his book plate.
As I commented on Gavin's video, I saw 'The Outsider and Others' at a convention for £1000!
I have the Arkham 'Skull Face' , but it's not in great condition, and doesn't have a dustwrapper.

@@michaelk.vaughan8617 But think of all the other books you could buy just by SELLING an original 1st edition Shakespeare First Folio! Even if Shakespeare isn't your thing, such a volume would garner a pretty penny at a Sotheby's auction, or by selling to some wealthy private collector who has the money and desperately wants to own one. They're worth MILLIONS -- you'd be able to buy first editions of REH & Lovecraft & ERB & A.C. Doyle -- you name it -- and still have plenty to spare.

Nice selection of books Michael. At one time I did own the Arkham version of Outsider. At the time, I think in the 80s, it cost me around 200 dollars. Unfortunately, I had to sell it later on. The thing of most interest to me about that volume it had Gardner Fox's name written in it. Did Gardner previously own it? I don't know. The name was printed in the inner margins about 100 pages in...

Yeah, I absolutely do not need any more Lovecraft either but if someone were to offer me The Outsider and Others at a reasonable price, I wouldn't say no. That or the Folio Society Lovecraft limited edition in the black box.

I have a consolation proposal for you. Get some decent scans of those covers, print them out and make replacement dust jackets for your editions of the books. You might just fool yourself into thinking you have the originals.

Used book store perhaps or worse yet was sent to recycling despite vintage value. There is an effort to recycle books. Libraries though are best way in my opinion. My guess is your next choice would be The Popular Library or Tom Stacy Reprints A.A Merritt 's Burn Witch Burn. Or Queen Of Elflands Daughter some George Mc Donald or Willam Morris Wood At The End Of The World. John Jake's books, Lin Carter Thongor Of Lemura, GA Nelson Silver Mane Lin Carter books, Every Man's Library books, Michael Moore Cock Eternal Champion, Jack Vance The Dying Earth series.Though on practical side might want one based on How To Rebuild as Civilization such as The Time Travellers Guide On How To Rebuild A Civilization From Scratch though you might have other knowledge such as skills jn engineering and medicine yourself.
