Thanks for making the vid, love it!! Big fan of the original splendor, but will still buy this marvel version to experience the differences myself. The gauntlet goal I'm worried about potentially making the game lose the variety of strategies you can employ in the original, it cuts out the very legitimate strategy of going for few high scoring cards and forces you to have at least 1 of each colour. But on the counter may make players interact and fight for the same cards as cities expansion did. Shield 3pts token seems very fun too. Trepidatiously looking forward giving it a whirl when it hits Aussie shelves.
Yes! In order to get that depth of shot in a corner, and get the boxes crystal clear as well as me, the best way to obtain both of those is taking a crystal clear photo of the backdrop and keying it in from the green screen! Also it helps that you have everything with no glare behind you which takes a lot of time each time you set the lights up. So also you get it perfect once, instead of spending an hour on it each time you shoot!
Great video!! Thanks for taking the time to make it so we better choose which version it’s best to buy! I have the original and had only played twice with my girlfriend but I guess for my 8 years old son the Marvel version could be more appealing. I may return the original or keep it…. Don’t really know 😵💫…Much respect brother 🫵🏽🫡
I think the game looks pretty awesome. Love the artwork! Does it explain thematically why you are competing to get the infinity gauntlet? It makes sense if players represented either the heroes or the villains. So for example, I could be on the hero team, recruiting heroes until I get the gauntlet, while another player could be on the villain team where she is capturing/defeating the heroes until she gets the gauntlet. There would be one winner, but there would also be a winning team.
@@TheGameBoyGeeks I will buy the "old" version I guess. As you mensioned in this video there are som expansions to this game but not to the Marvel version. Even thou I do like the Marvel Universe I will probably choose the original Splendor.
6:31 The more efficient cards don't have Avengers symbols, so you are actually paying something. 10 gems for 5 VP? No symbols. 14 gems for 3 VP? Here, have 2 symbols with that.
You play an even ampunt of rounds so if the 1st player has the Avenger token and gets over the point threshold to end the game, the round is finished as normal, but if another player later in that round takes the avenger token, and now no one has the point threshold, the game will continue.
Great review, like always ! Love Splendor, and have been a Marvel fan for years... but the Marvel version of this game looks terrible to me, the graphic design and color scheme is bad. I know that's 100% subjective, but the minor mechanical differences in no way make up for that for me. It's a hard pass for me.
Not having a 5th Noble tile could've been to do with the customized metal thing s that cut punchboards. A new one is expensive. Additionally, I assume only 4 Nobles are used in a 4-player game, with the 5th replaced by the Avengers tile.
I like the base game mechanics much more. Being forced to have a color per kind actually limits the options. Same for the mandatory level 3 card. It's a pity it can't be played just like the original as well because of the lack of nobles.
The Marvel card back looks cheap and meh. The art however looks cool. I don't see a need to buy this but would like to play it once just to feel the difference.
For me, the cutaways to you in front of a green screen with all the lIghts around is distracting, not interesting. It would better suit a “behind the scenes” video, not a game review video.
Thanks for the thoughts. Many have said they love the new shots, others said they didn't, but it's always fun to try something new and see what the reaction is!
Nice comparison. We think the Marvel version provides some good improvements to the game.
I love the new camera angles! So cool to see behind the scenes and get a new perspective
Glad you like it! I was trying out some new equipment! It did triple the production time, but I'm glad to see you enjoyed it!
Very much agree! Incredible work!
Wow, love the comparison and breakdown. Thank you for your input.
Thanks Andrew!

Is there a reason you’re recording in front of a green screen when you have an awesome, clean board game background already?

You didn't mention the green gem from your first level-3 card taking up a gem slot in your hand.
Good comparison, enjoyed seeing behind the scenes shots.
Thanks for letting me know Scott! I recently got a new slider, and was using this to try it out and give the viewers a different look.

Thank you for another great video. I wanted to know the difference between these two games. Now I know which one to buy.
Which one?

@@stevegold8070 sounds good Steve!
They did have the promo helicarrier/Hydra.

Well I guess what I meant is you aren't paying anything additional to the cards in the base game :)
Thank you for the comparison :)
You’re welcome!
good video, only thing I dont like is the infinity stone symbols are so small compared to the original.
I didn't understand how the Avenger 3p token changes the rules for endgame

Yeah, looks like cheap, mass produced garbage for the masses

Yes you take the amount of location tiles equal to number of players.
i just dont like the marvel version rule that green stone makes you play with max 9 token
interesting camera angles
Thanks Shlomi! I'm trying something new with the new camera slider I got :)
Many many thanks for this Video 😄

How is it Drax is a level 3 card and give 4 points (even more than Ironman) and idk, Deadpool and Rocket Racoon are just a lvl 1 with no points?
Marvel cards weigh more per same number than original Splendor,
