    Thank you for the honest review. I am glad I didn’t spend $2,700 on that rifle. My boy would have never let me hear the end of it when his Ruger American out shot it with a $350 Leupold on it.

    Slick looking setup! Sad though (with factory loads) that it can't group any better than a budget (Ruger American/Savage/etc.) rifle from Walmart.....

    I love my element. I did notice a difference between the PH2 and the Element in 7 PRC as the PH2 with the 26 inch barrel likes the 180 ELD-Ms and my Element loves the 175 ELD-Xs. That's a sweet setup you got there. I just assume that if someone wants an element over a PH2, they're probably carrying it through some thick brush or over a long hilly/mountainous terrain.

      @thelonggunner762  8 місяців тому

      Agreed, the element would be great for brush country or when shaving every once of weight counts like a mountain goat hunt. How's the recoil of the 7 PRC in your element?

      @thelonggunner762 I'm running the seekins brake, which is really aggressive but overall it's not bad. It took a few rounds to get used to it but you can see impacts on deer.

    If it's meant to be a hunting rifle you should test the gun as one might be shooting it in the field...cold bore 1st shot with a quick follow up shot, which is about all one might expect to encounter in a hunting situation. Then let the gun cool completely and repeat it with the same ammo a couple times...average the total of all 6 shots as mapped on top of one another onto 1 target.
    5 shot groups are fine for factory ammo/hand load testing but it's only useful data if the barrel is allowed to cool down completely between shots (at least 10 minutes between shots depending on ambient air temps). I bring 2 or more rifles to the range when testing so I can switch between them and allow adequate time between shots for the barrel to cool fully...then I'm not just standing around waiting for one gun to cool off.

    • @thelonggunner762

      That process does work, and when I go to put my final zero on it I might do it that way but I don't know which projectile I'm going to use yet. In this testing I'm just seeing if the gun has a preference for one or the other. The other part of this testing is checking to see what heat will do to this rifle. In this instance, the can was more of a problem with heat distortion than the gun pitching rounds from heat. For my rifles, if I can't shoot a 3-5 shot group at a slow pace without point of impact changing from heat I'll get rid of the rifle/ barrel.

    I would highly advise you at least get the ttsx. Used that same federal tsx ammo, and lost a deer. Zero expansion. I’ve heard it can bet better if you make sure the tips are clear. Shot real well tho.

    Bipod hop Harris bipods are notorious for this. They’re way too stiff to preload properly. I’ve personally seen Seekins take deer and elk out to 700 yds. Routinely shooting sub moa and even sub 1/2 moa. There’s more going on here then it just won’t shoot. Also if you do happen to get one that doesn’t. They will make it right 200% of the time. No questions asked. All guns will like one load over the other. Nothing new there. But for a Seekins to not shoot well with any load. Not likely at all.

    How would you say the recoil is on this gun suppressed, compared to other bolt action rifles that may be a bit heavier?

    • @thelonggunner762
      @thelonggunner762  7 місяців тому

      The recoil is pretty light with the suppressor on, even with this light of a rifle you could still shoot it all day and not be hurting.

    How is this different than the havoc slam? Is the slam just lighter and has a different stock?

    • @thelonggunner762
      @thelonggunner762  4 місяці тому

      Pretty much, it's the same barreled action with a lighter folding stock.

    So the stock is not carbon fiber? It’s polymer?

      I talked with Danny at Seekins and he said that it's polymer with strands of carbon fiber mixed in for reinforcement.

      @thelonggunner762 too bad. If that bolt locked it would be a great hunting rig. But as some1 who's had a terrible experience with bolts that don't lock. I won't run a rifle wo locking bolt. Cost me the buck of a lifetime cpl years ago. Brush hooked my bolt n lifted it slightly I didn't realize it in the heat of the moment. My rifle wouldn't fire. Cost me a 180 - 200inch monster. Never again I swore from then on!!!!

    Serious hunting bolt action rifles should have a three position safety with locking bolt. I prefer at most a 75 degree bolt lift. 90 degree bolt lifts should go by the way of the dodo.

    Accuracy test and you make excuses for every flyer and bad group. I don't think you were pulling that many shots. I think it was the gun. If you think you really pulled that many shots you should save everyone's time and not do Accuracy tests.

    Seekins aren’t worth the money, every video I’ve watched on UA-cam they shoot 1” groups which is good but not for a $2700 gun. You could buy a bergara for 900 and shoot 1 moa. Fierce is way better, they shoot 1/2” groups all day and it’s cheaper than the seekins. Shit you get a carbon barrel too! Glad you didn’t pay all that money and find out how it shoots after

      When you win a free gun, its hard to complain 😅, needs to be broke in. Different fowling going on from different bullets. If allowed to cool more, it would still shoot moa
