I grew up watching Yan Can Cook too. I talk to my wife about him all the time and she looks at me like I’m crazy. He was a huge influence in my love of cooking.
I enjoyed Yan and his PBS show too. My sister and I during summer would watch his show religiously with our Dad. It was awesome to see just his smile, jokes and passion for cooking is what I have copied when I cook as well. I think he still does a show and has several books i need to purchase now.
I loved Martin Yan and Justin Wilson! Those guys could really cook! I love Mongolian beef, it's really good. But, when I was stationed in Okinawa, I used to eat Mongolian BBQ every payday! Man, Okinawa had some really great eats!
@@toddcarpenter714 no man, I never did….we stayed in Kinville mostly, eating at Mom and Pop places, the little carts in the middle of town, and by the main gate
@BBQ ROCKSTAR You missed some mighty good chow! But, some of those mom & pop places and the street vendors had mighty good chow as well. I'd like to go back once just to eat!
Hi Hussy. We love your videos. Keep them coming. You have a wonderful positive energy and it’s hugely appreciated. Have a wonderful day. Andy. (United Kingdom)
Woohoo, after watching this a third time I've decided that this is the next campout dinner for my group. I'm the camp cook and this is going to be our first dinner in a couple of weeks.
Matt, I believe you are thinking of Chef Martin Yan...he's funny and cooks some awesome food! Great cook here...his inspiration on you is obvious. Nicely done!
Wok with Yan was my jam I soon started working at a Chinese restaurant out of high school and learned many things. Cooked and delivered for a few years. Wish I had time I'd do my own channel like Hussey 👍 keep it up
There were two Yans... brothers I believe. Martin Yan and Stephen Yan. I don't remember which was which, but one had the show you're taling about, Yan Can Cook. The other had Wok with Yan. Loved them both! Also loved Justin Wilson. I GuarOntee!
Yeah, buddy! I loved Yan Can Cook too! Good memories. Boy, this was a beautiful and delicious looking dish. I'm gonna have to try this one soon. Thanks very much, Hussey. Have a great weekend!
Yes, Martin Yan is "one of a kind!" I met him several times at the PBS station in San Francisco, where I volunteered to work the phones during Auctions. The man had two personalities...his private one, and his over-active "On Air" personality. When all the volunteers were in the Green Room, Martin would quietly come in and sit in a corner, quite as a bug. No one even realized it was him. However, the minute the camera's red light came on ...."BOOM" the man came alive!!
you gotta try Lee Kum Kee oyster sauce if you haven't had it! we had a cantonese restaurant in our neighborhood that used it in seemingly everything and it's been a kitchen staple ever since.
That looked so good!!! Question for you, can you take a screenshot of the light and clamp that you have on your griddle. I have a similar looking light, but not the clamp. Would like to get a clamp so it fits on my griddle like that to make it easier to cook at night. TIA. 👍👍👍
I enjoyed watching Yan when I was growing up too! Along with Justin Wilson. How about the Frugal Gourmet, Jeff Smith? Do you remember him? The first thing I learned to cook was "perfect" scrambled eggs. I owe that to Jeff Smith. 🙂
Yan was great. A little before your time maybe was Graham Kerr known as The Galloping Gourmet. He got me interested in cooking but I don’t drink like he did during his shows.😁. Enjoyed Justin Wilson too.
Yep, that looks wonderful. I watched Yan all the time. As for forgetting the onion whites, I usually forget something. I'll be plating or cleaning up and see what I forgot. My wife asked me if it hurt. Does what hurt? Being that stupid must surely cause some degree of physical pain. I had no defense. Oh, ETA: Thanks for posting the Thermapen One sale. Got it.
Hussey, if you watched Yan Can Cook and Justin Wilson then you had to have watched Natalie Dupree! Loved her show too. Still use a Chinese Chef knife in all of my cooking. Another great video, my friend!
It's cool how you mentioned yen can cook was an inspiration to you....because you're that inspiration to me....I started watching you a couple years ago when I received my Blackstone as a gift....love all your recipes and I've made several of them....I just wish you'd get 4x shirts lol....I'm kinda portly lol.....love your content and I'm definitely gonna try this one

I need to try and watch more of his latest work. He had such an impact on me.

I agree….I was at Camp Hansen and lived off of yakisoba and San Miguel!
@@BBQROCKSTAR178 Did you ever eat at Gengas Khans? It was about a mile from Futenma. $13 all you could eat. Man, that was some good chow!
