  • For sale! In the heart of North Florida, half way between The Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico, lies the charming lake village of Melrose. And in the heart of Melrose is this unique, historic - yet modern - property where the locals come to gather: "The Melrose Center"
The Melrose Center (307-309 State Road 26) consists of two buildings located in the heart of Melrose. The buildings represent a limited selection of commercial property that faces the main throughfare of Hwy 26, a major roadway running from Gainesville to Putnam Hall Fl.
The front building which consists of eleven mixed use offices ranging from health care providers to artist studios, was built in the 1890’s and served as the Santa Fe Boarding House until the 1920’s when it was converted to a private residence. In the 1980’s it began to be used as a commercial location. The building I represents the Victorian four square design that is a historic standard throughout the town.
The rear building was commissioned and constructed in 2010 by the Waite Family to be used as a community center, food and music venue. The mission of the center is to provide a local community gathering place where patrons can obtain healthy food and coffee, receive health information and participate in entertainment activities. The Center is licensed as a fifty seat full service restaurant with both inside and out side eating areas. The kitchen was fully renovated in 2021, with much of the equipment upgraded to brand new condition. The facility has both inside and outside stages which are used to showcase musicians on a weekly basis. The inside hall is also used to showcase local artists’ work.
With it’s central location, the center has become a focal point for community health and wellbeing with monthly health fairs including Covid vaccinations and health related classes.
