Counting the handcrafted glider/heli ports, vintage airports, the aircraft roster they added, its was an $150 value update, at least. If going off the DLC market.
I am from Tehachapi, that is great you made Mountain Valley Airport! Will surely be checking that out once the semester is finished. (In real life and in the sim)
@@Military-Jets16 do you have the premium version? In the launch menu in the glider computer you can set multiplayer launch, you need to be in the near of the plane which should you tow.
Once you land is there any way to get pushed back to the end of the runway and have another cable attached? it would be good for when practicing cable breaks
If you are buying it for gliding, Condor 2 is a better glider sim overall. But very limited in where you can fly. MSFS is okay as a glider sim but more places to fly and less gliders.
The thermals in MSFS look jumpy and not smooth, at least that is what the visualization shows. Could just be the animation. In Condor thermals/wind remains smooth without hard transitions. Also the frame rate in Condor 2 is very high which gives it better control. Condor just has a smoother and realistic life cycle for thermals and more consequences.
@@bogdanrotaru6101 it’s still pretty good and the options of places to glide is insane. But if you are doing it for training then I would always go with Condor 2.
i'd say, if you are going to buy it only for gliders wait for Condor 3, its currently in devellopment and i've heard that it might just get released some time down the line in 2023
Great overview and will definitely check out your scenery! I am frustrated in that tow plane does not move, no matter how much I signal with my rudder. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...
its not you, it's most likely something in your Community folder. There's a set of conditions that can cause that, some known, some not. Does your wing runner appear at all? If not, you have an airport that has an invalid value. Either way, start with a clean community folder and see if that helps
I’m currently doing gliding in the real world and I would love to get some extra practice in on flight sim but do not have a pc of a good enough gen of a console 😢
You’re probably better suited for Condor 2 then. It’s what glider pilots use for training. The graphics are toned way down so you can get good performance. Good performance brings more fluid flight dynamics.
I can’t speak to everything, but like I said, the aerotow doesn’t seem to have wake consequences. But when you’re up there not tied to anything cruisin’, feels like everything else out there, XP12, AFS4. Needs force feedback on the controls one day.
So here we are, 10 months later, and guess what... we're not flying the Asobo gliders because their flight models are off and the freeware gliders are better. But we're stuck with the poor implementation of lift in the sim by Asobo and there's nothing modders can do about that. The aerotows are great but that's just the first couple of minutes of a soaring flight. It would have been much better if Asobo had put more effort into the weather and not wasted time on the planes.
@@DoggyPilot it’s actually called, “thermal lift.” The definition of lift is, “1. a : to raise from a lower to a higher position : elevate” It’s also defined as lift in chapter 10-2 of the FAA glider handbook, under soaring techniques. Different from aerodynamic lift, it’s used in the context of energy in a rising column of air.
@@TheFlightSimDeck You are now completely right. Just wanted to clarify that the "wing lift" and "thermal lift" are not the same, and the glider climbs because it simply goes up with the thermal, not because the wings are developing more lift. The only brief times the wings create more lift is when entering the thermal or if the thermal changes in magnitude, but the wing lift quickly readjusts itself to Lift=Weight. Thank you.
That is Actually a good update. I am one of those who love to try and fly everything and want to learn.

Multiplayer aerotow would be sick, it would be so fun trolling people online by sending them into cliffs

Really nice video….it has me excited to test the gliders. Which airport you were departing off at 3.43 , if I may ask ?
Thanks! That timestamp is me landing at KRVL Mifflin Co, Reedsville.

Only when using Kinetic Assistant
Do you think you could make Hemet-Ryan Airport for gliders? I just started glider training there
I’m about to buy this simulator. Any advice which is better Microsoft or Condor 2 ??

how would you describe and rate the MSF thermal model compared to condor 2?

Thermals make you gain altitude, not lift…
