This game and it's story will stay with me forever. I barely understood the details when I was younger and playing this for the first time. The story grew with me as I grew older. I understood more. I felt more. My favorite piece of artwork ever created. Nothing comes close to the emotion this story gives off. No one will ever replace the original cast of this production.
I was 12 when I'd first played Silent Hill 2. I remember my closest friend came to school and told me they'd went to a yard sale and she saw Silent Hill 2. She'd said she'd rememered me talking about it. My dad had played the first one when I was really little. I beat Silent Hill 2 when I was 14. Her sister used to have the controller, but they got so scared I had to control James. James will always be my favorite. I'd enver played such a well writted game. I cried at the end, so thank you. c:
It was seriously heartwrenching the first time I got to the VHS revelation in the game. James's emotive reaction plus the brilliant music of Akira Yamaoka made for the perfect melancholy combination.
My favorite game in the Silent Hill series period. This game was quite an experience. The story was gripping, the atmosphere was perfect and the voice acting was quite chilling at times.
i really wish they would continue to make silent hill games like this, not the junk they have nowadays, these games were so full of emotion and every detail was very well thought out,now they just mash up whatever junk comes off the top of there head and they think they have a silent hill game, any real fan will agree when i say silent hills 1 through 4 were and will always be the only true silent hill games
Guy cihi youre a hero i love the character you performed amazing thanks ... you and dave are amazing i love you both :) hope you get to read this ... it will make my day ..
This video highlights a lot of things that I feel have died with Silent Hill and were only halfway brought into light with Shattered Memories due to it not feeling as scary to me. For one, there's the subtlety as well as the pacing. Things don't always have to be happening for there to be tense or confusing atmosphere: it can be just quiet or ambient. There's perhaps too much of "oh man stuff's happening it must be Silent Hill!" in the recent games...but #2? it got it right.
Yeah, and to add to what the other guy said about the three years thing, that's why when Laura's birthday occurred was important. James got really defensive and called her a liar because the facts she was providing didn't mesh with the fantasy he had created for himself.
I was eight when this video game came out. Before I played this game, at that time I thought all video games were meant to just have fun and pass the time (N64 era). But when I got a ps2 as a gift and played this game for the first time it just blew my mind in a good way. I could only get halfway through the game because of the puzzles. So I went go buy the strategy guide on the game to help me out, there was no UA-cam at that time so I couldn't search for a video on a puzzle. After I passed this game for the first time, it gave me a different outlook on video games and life.
I totally agree with you. I was a kid also when I played SH1, SH2 and SH3, but I love them now more than then... They are part of me. That's one of the reasons why I hate so much what Konami is doing with the series lately...
OH AWESOME!!! I didn't know you had a UA-cam channel! This is so exciting, you're the best, Guy! You can expect a lot more fan gushing from me in the near future!
I love Silent Hill 2's storyline. I have a couple ideas for joke endings. 1. This is inspired by the Surprise ending in Silent Hill Downpour, where various Silent Hill characters throw a surprise birthday party for Murphy. Remember SNL's early years, where John Belushi would sometimes play a samurai? "Pyramid Head Delicatessen!" 2. James and Maria in a bar, lip-synching the song "I Never Talk to Strangers" by Tom Waits and Bette Midler--all while they both struggle to keep a straight face.
i think the beginning scene is one of the most saddest and most important part of the game. guy did a great job bringing the emotion to the words. it may be small but i think it is one of my favorite scenes in any game just by impact alone
All this game is a masterpiece. I become a fan of this series very recently. I want to tank you all the people envolved on this project. It's briliant, mature, each character is deep (my favorite Angela), the story goes naturally and each demons are well designed and done. So congratz Guy and the all the team, and thank you to give us a good game that everyone will not forget :).
Bunji Kugashira I don't think the game would work as a movie. I really can't put it into words. But I think it should stay as a game but at the most remade.
Silent Hill 2 in my honest opinion, is one of the best games to ever grace a console, and we have you to thank Guy, hopefully one day you'll do a lets play of Silent Hill 2.
I remember when I was little and I watched my dad and sisters play this game (half the time I hid when I saw those monsters ^^; ) When I saw the ending I cried, hard. Going back through the game, I could see why. Thank you, Guy, Dave. You brought us a great game :)
I just thought about this, why is Laura in silent hill? Unlike the other character we see she doesn’t have any horrible reason or sense of judgement for whatever actions. I also thought about it like this, what if it isn’t the bad silent hill they all else see? We know angela sees silent hill burning, so what does Laura see? I had a thought about how Laura I think says “why would I” when James talks about her getting scratched up, what if there are no monster to Laura? what is her silent hill?
It makes me so upset that I got into Silent Hill with Tom Hulet's (excuse my spelling if it's wrong) games. His just don't compare to the originals. It kills me that the first time I ever played SH2 and SH3 was on his abomination of an "HD" re-release. I only wish I could play the originals, which are 100% better in my opinion. The voice acting for one was much better in the originals. But I still love Silent Hill, thank you, Guy, for making SH2 what it is today.
All my life I have been the strange kid in school. They loved zelda ocarina of time and I loved majoras mask. They loved Gta 4 and I liked gta 3. They had slender And I loved silent hill 2. And whats bugging me is that EEVERY day Somemody calls me gay, or retarded. Because of that:(
Hey Guy, Have you ever played the game all the way through? You probably have but I'm just wondering what was the first Ending you ever received when you first played this game, if you did.
It wasn't 3 years ago, that was a delusion of James. It was much more recent. This is revealed in the game in discussions about Laura's age and birthday. Some speculate that James may believe she "died" 3 years ago because that's when she caught the disease and her personality started changing.
Maybe you were just a kid, but you didn't forget... Holding on to important feelings from childhood is part of what it takes to become a good man.
Thank you for writing. It's always nice to hear from fans.
GCNavigator you're welcome mr. guy cihi 😊

Talented actor, editor and gamer. Is there anything you DON'T do, Guy?

Gaaay!
Hey Guy,
Have you ever played the game all the way through? You probably have but I'm just wondering what was the first Ending you ever received when you first played this game, if you did.
The Pickles He didn't play it, he didn't have a PS 2. But I think he'd get Leave.
He did a live playthrough .. that was amazing ...
That's right, who needs all that boring stuff in the middle anyways? :P
wait, I'm confused: if Sato said that Mary's body was in his car, did he keep the corpse for 3 years??
