In this video we are talking to Chris Gurski who is a credit card consultant and travel hacking expert. Over the past 6 months, Chris has traveled around the world mostly in first and business class by using his credit card points which has saved him over $30,000! My conversation with Chris will go over how he did that, what flights he was able to take because of his credit cards, some tips on how to redeem credit card points for travel, how to maximize value from your credit cards, and much more.

If this isn’t a reason to start getting educated on credit card usage, then I don’t know what is. Great video as always Dan!
Thanks for having me on your channel, Dan! Loved to share my experiences with you and your amazing community. More to come! 🛫
Thanks so much for coming on the channel Chris! So much good value provided from your experiences on some awesome airline products from using points and miles!
you make this look so easy but it’s more difficult than you think!
My question is how to find these flights and how to plan something like that. For example, let’s say I have 300k Amex points and open PTO for my job. So I’m open to going anywhere at anytime. So how would you find these kickass deals? How do you start your search?
There are a lot of other videos going over this. But basically I would first look up “best way to use points for x card” whatever card you have
Exp. If you have the chase sapphire card you can transfer points to Hilton for a great value.
Capital one has some great flight partners
Honestly, very educational video! I have a ton of points/miles on different cards, and this will definitely help maxing out the best transfer value for them. Chris has this process on lockdown!
I get hyped watching these videos, gives me inspiration on different ways to redeem points for great flights!
Glad to see SQ spoken of so highly! Their service is definitely top notch and I can't wait to try their Business class later next month! The ability to transfer from all the major points currencies *and* redeem through some amazing Star Alliance partners like Aeroplan make it an amazing way to fly. The ANA one-way flight being such a great cpp redemption is an interesting one... I wonder if it's because one-way is just extra expensive, and much closer to a full roundtrip flight instead (something I've seen from my searching). Awesome interview/chat!
Great guest! Thabks for the video Daniel! Because of points I'll never fly long haul (more than 6 hours, I'll do transcontinental lol) economy again. Diversify your points and learn the transfer partner sweet spots! Also, I think its awesome that, while he got a bunch of great CPP redemtions, he also didn't hesitate to prioritize the experience over CPP value. (With dynamic pricing its impossible to get high CPP value with Delta)
Only way to get truly high CPP is: book $$$ rates and traveling during off season and low demand. Which for airfare may be multiple/long layovers.
Awesome video, loved hearing/seeing the actual flights and redemptions he took for these amazing flights.
This was a cool breakdown of his trips, but I wish he would have explained his process to find all of these. Finding good value biz/first class seats can be challenging. Good on him though!
Great Video today Daniel, I like how you walked us through all your processes!
Thanks Dan! Excellent collab!!! 💪💪💪
This is incredible, absolutely love to see it!
Chris is the man! I'm excited to hear more about his experiences in the future. If I can do even half the trips he's done so far in my lifetime, I'd be stoked. Awesome video y'all!
Thanks, Spencer! Looking forward to share more experiences! Let me know if you have any questions on my bookings ✌🏼
be honest do y’all actually book through bank portals when booking travel or directly through airline?
I just started a business and one of the goals that I have is to use the new business credit card points, that I accumulate through the business, for travel with my family. One trip in particular is a dream trip to Tokyo Japan. Please share a strategy or method to reverse engineer a particular trip using points please. Thank you for your content!
Great Video! I'm a little jealous at all his redemptions. My player 2 and I are traveling to Thailand, but can only go last week of December. We did get lucky and found AirFrance business class for 305,000 points + $796.40 total (everything else was over 500K points) The cash price for both is $17,021 so I am getting 5.3 cpp. Still have to book the flight home.
Can someone please explain how Daniel accumulated so many points, was it all thank you points. Thank you.
these were all used with citi credit cards! does that mean chase and american express are not worth it?
I heard he mentioned Avianca life miles and whereelse I can book with miles and points?
Excellent!
Great and informative video. Would love to see more content like this that shows actual examples of point redemptions.
Hope you can make me understand how this works if you use points for a flight you no longer receive any more points back for these flights, so how do you get so many points without spending so much money?
Thanks
If you use points to purchase your airline, do you still gain points for that particular flight?
Are you from north wales? I went to high school with some brauns. I need to figure out how to make the most out of my points and miles
Yeah! Small world - you probably went to school with my brother or sister. I’ve definitely got a ton of content that hopefully should help out 👍
I need this job
How do you guys do it for a living? You can only have so much points.. do I have to start a youtube page too? 😅😅😅
I could be losing my mind lol but how do you find award flights for Singapore Airlines if you have no points through them? Before transferring from Chase I want to see how much it would require but since I have none- when I search award travel it shows me no results even though when I switch it to dollars it shows flights available.
What websites does Chris use to find his award flights?
how do you find all of these flights?
First!
The “around the world” link is not working
Sorry, I just fixed it! Should be working now
So Germans can get travel cards like citi and AE?
We are 3 of us (myself and parents) and travel internationally (US-Asia) twice a year.
For our upcoming trip to India, I’ve exhausted all our miles and booked all 3 of us using points - parents on BIZ (88k for a $5k fare) and myself on ECONOMY (50k for a $850 fare)
But I’m now wondering if there’s more value in preserving the 50k points for another BIZ seat for them in future and booking my economy with $850 cash instead?
I know miles get devalued etc, but the economy redemption is 1.7cpp while the biz is 4.4cpp, so it seems it’s more worth it to preserve 50k for a future biz award.
What do you think?
which credit card do you recommend?
Does travel points work when buying a ticket through those agencies online? They find the cheapest ticket? Or is this for buting frim airline directly?
Me or my wife travel from USA to Philippines or Philippines to the USA several times a year.
How tf do you get points? I'm sorry guys, I know this is a dumb question but how tf did this dude get all those thousands of points??? Do you need to travel thousands of miles for years and years before you get those ridiculous miles points? What if I pay for someone to travel from asia to america or vise versa do I accumulate points so I can just use those points without me actually doing the hard job of accumulating points? What Credit Cards accumululate miles points? Can I redeem those points anytime? Thank you!
They spend a fuck ton of money thats how lol its no secret
First🫡
I think he should be include how much you spend to get those points.
assuming he got Amex gold, that's $6000 6 months, citi thank you which is another $6000 in 3 months? (correct me), and assume he got the delta card too ( most expensive being $5000 iun 6 months), which all of these, he has to spent a tons more on top to get this much of points.
Good video as always but I think you should add in some more info because this may make people believe "oh, points and miles so easy, lets just apply for a card and go with it". Not worth applying for cards if you are not going to get a full benefit just to get 1 business flight lol~
For sure, lots of these videos really don’t point out how they got their points, but I think Daniel and a few others do a pretty good job on that. First thing and foremost, be on top of your credit score. Go online to all 3 bureaus and check them for free. Having a healthy credit score will increase your chances of getting a CC with a nice SUB. Plan these at a time when a major purchase will be coming up. But you are correct, in order to get these points you must put spend on these cards. Not for the average / casual spender. But there are several ways to build these points up.
Its really very simple, spend all your money, and get heavily in debt and you'll have enough points
Thanks! Love watching your videos but first question is, how does one rack up that many points on the multiple credit cards? How much spending a month does it take to get to the level of the video points being used? I’m a beginner and would definitely like to learn.
U should be worrying about YOUR (organic) spending. And it’s as simple as do the math. Banks tell u exactly the award multipliers for ur spending on every card. And there are online calculators to help
How long do u have to wait to apply for a new card?
I just got a venture x in june and I already hit my spend amount for the sign up bonus so now I want a Chase sapphire reserve
Fantastic Interview! I've created a very similar business. Good to see another Points and Miles enthusiasts succeeding 🙌🏾 💳
Absolutely love this video here Daniel! It's awesome to hear all of the specific real-world examples of how to maximize your points for the highest values! Chris definitely seems to have a wealth of experience in finding high redemption rates, and loved the tips that were built into this, like booking First/Business for long-distance flights. I'm heavy on Team Travel & leveraging points for as high of value as possible, so it was really interesting to hear about all the different bookings and the specific redemption rates Chris was able to get around the world! Singapore Airlines Suites & ANA The Room seem absolutely unreal haha, loved all the B-Roll as well! Great video as always Daniel & it was cool hearing about some of Chris's travel redemptions/experiences!
Thanks for your amazing feedback, Matt! Very happy to hear it from other people in the Points & Miles world ✌🏼
Nice video Daniel! Nice to see real life examples for great redemptions! Curious, how did you meet Chris? Assuming, since he lives in Germany.
So when you call for bookings, you just let them know I want to use “such and such points” to book the flight?
Great work guys!! So much insightful info, such a no brainer!!!!
Thank you, Justin! Appreciate it!
This man has flown more business and first class flights in one trip than most people will in a lifetime! Gotta love credit card points and miles.
Cool interview style Daniel! Like how it was strait to the point but full of great tips. Awesome content.
yep, its possible for a single man with flexible dates. throw in a week that is actually nice for travel and 1 other person --- watch how quickly points become a shit show
Great interview. I have to really step my credit card game up 😅
Fascinating breakdown! Don't forget the 500k bank/airline miles used for the trip as well!
Yeah definitely a big part of this as well! I'm just trying to find the best title so now it might sound a bit more fitting after I just changed it 👍
This was an amazing video Daniel. Very cool to see real world examples of actual point redemtions. Has me salivating to redeem some points myself now. Thanks again Daniel.
Very helpful video. Thanks Daniel!
Anyone else having trouble with the blueprint link?
Sorry, I just fixed it! Should be working now
I don’t understand, I have 245,679 points but only show $2045 so I can’t buy first class, help???
I’ve never cancelled a flight I’ve booked with points before. Do you just get them back or did he re book in the same alliance?
I would never use points or miles for a first class or business class ticket. I could care less what is the calculates "value". I want to use those points and miles to get my body to the most places that I want to go. And sitting in business class isn't worth much to me. Maybe 20% more is all I would pay, even using points or miles.
Great video Daniel. Could you make a video about booking award flights for friends/family using miles(or if that’s not possible at all). Also tips on booking family travel using points would be helpful
Is the guy single?
👍🏻
Great video 📹 👍
Thanks 👌
Im pretty new to this. Where exactly do you book these flights? Do you constantly need to look at different portals or is it via the credit card portals?
In order to get those high point redemption, they are transferring the points out to travel partners. So, they are booking directly with the airline or hotel and using the airline/hotel point systems.
@@Obsidianone831 that's exhausting no(or maybe it's relative) ? First search the most suited airlines, create an account with them and then the same thing for the hotels? Or I guess that's the "price"?
@@abhimanyutyagi9676 that's part of the game. It's quite involved to plan a trip like this, figuring out what airlines fly to the places you want to go, searching for availability often on a different airline than you are planning on flying/booking i.e. searching United for ANA availability and then booking through Air Canada or Virgin. It's a whole other thing finding the availability at the times you want to fly. I have been booking 11-12 months out for most of my trips.
It's very rewarding though!
@abhimanyutyagi9676 Yes, it definitely takes a bit of work to get the big savings. Not really the greatest if you want to plan a trip last minute.
Not a fan of the camera angles. So you two weren't actually in the room at the same time or the camera didn't have enough of a wide angle?
The camera angle wasn’t going to work if I tried putting us both in the same shot. This is a pretty typical podcast type of setup though with 2 angles. A bit different than my usual setup, so sorry if that wasn’t the same as you’re used to here on my channel. Appreciate you watching though! 👍
