UA-cam is required to give you the contact info of the person who claimed copyright. There is a music reactor I follow, who was receiving copyright strikes that he recognized were not from the actual label. He appealed to UA-cam, telling them that this was not the company that owned the music. UA-cam denied the appeals. He then requested the contact info, which UA-cam gave him. He contacted the record label as well as asking support from his 680K subscribers. It has now been taken care of.

If the IP address shows it came from her address...guilty. they have proven it was not her
School marching bands have been dealing with things like this for years. Attorneys will go to competitions and will threaten to sue on behalf of the composer. Often the district will settle to avoid the bad press.
H3 proved that anyone can claim copyright. They tried doing it themselves and were able to.

I wouldn't be surprised. Someone is falsely claiming my music for their own and youtube hasn't done anything about it.
I also use "copyright free" music for background that sometimes gets claimed by scammers. Again, youtube does nothing

There are ads on YT for how to become a “copyright claimer” without owning any of the copyrights.
PopCorned Planet has a case going against Netflix for something very similar. In his case they didn’t even take fair use clips that he’d monetizes they took his personal files & copyrighted them without his consent. Andy never thought to copyright them as he used them on his own platform and they were stolen.

@@lillyrose3545 I worked for 6 different lawyers in my lifetime and none of them ever lied for their clients. They'll try to find the most ingenious loopholes, but lie? No. Not even the most narcissistic among them ever lied for their clients.

By "email," do you mean you also received a "Cease and Desist" email from the firm, lol? Because that's how H3 was notified of said information. Which leads to a bigger question: Why waste attorney's fees on sending "Cease and Desists" to multiple people reporting "in good faith," instead of going after UA-cam, or the companies sending these false claims? Seems like a colossal waste of attorney time and client funds 🤷🏻♀️
Cause they want to stop big channels from keeping on talking about Colleen hoping it will go away. If they go after the victims then I think they know there is enough proof for her to get in some big trouble.
@@magaloo0347 Oh, there's no way in hell they're going after the victims. I don't doubt that Colleen wants them to, but the lawyers probably had a very blunt conversation with her about just how obscenely stupid that would be, and that she's got no leg to stand on with the amount of evidence thus far. I was saying it makes more sense to go after the company(ies) issuing the takedowns or even UA-cam as a whole, for allowing the abuse of the copyright/content id system to continue. Her behavior aside, they've definitely got a case against those two parties - not just for theft, against the people/companies claiming it, but also potentially for "reputational damage" (whatever legal jargon that would fall under) since they're making it look like she's the one doing it. That all hinges on the fact that she's telling the truth for once though, that she is indeed not the one behind the claims. There's no case for going after H3, Emily, or anyone else reporting on the claims they've received, because to the best of their knowledge, she is behind it. Defamation has to be "knowingly and willfully making false claims." The backend report that the creators see on the claim would lead a reasonable person to conclude that Colleen claimed it. So, they're just setting money on fire by doing this. It's her money to burn though so, by all means 🤷🏻♀️😂

No, they're not. It doesn't mean they don't "twist the truth," but they can't lie.
No but they might not know what the exact truth actually is. If their client lies to them (not saying that happened here), then they will just repeat what their client says, unless they have reason to believe otherwise.
