  • What was going to be a follow up to the 'will it start' video, turned into day 1 of the full project. With the wiring completely shot, in fact, even worse than on the Z550, what should have been a nice day in the garage, turned into the first day of the strip down. Join me as I try and get the old girl revived !

Hey up.... It's great to see you having a go!!....My advice to anyone that is looking to mend, repair, fix or bodge the sparks, without a diagram, and lots of space and time, is ... DON'T... Its a brave man who uncovers wiring like that and tries to sort it. Quite often looms are "fixed" by folk who shouldn't. Got to start at the front and get rid of all the tape, tie wraps and crap. Undo it all carefully and strip it off the bike. Now make some space, lay out the loom, and work through the loom one wire at a time repairing any bad connectors with new ones, preferably soldering them on. Wire colours normally but not always follow through so its not impossible to sort out the problems. Continuity test all colours to make sure there is no breaks or shorts. A wiring diagram is a must for the uninitiated. Oh and be careful connecting a battery when there is a chance that some muppet has made a fatal error like connecting Brown (+12v) to Black/white (ground or frame), potentially burning out the loom. Love your videos. keep it up, Thank you.....
