Am i right in that the LEDs are not actually part of the keyboard itself? The keyboard just has holes for the LEDs to shine through? Does that mean it is impossible to upgrade a nonbacklit unit to be backlit?
To answer my own question while it does seem the LEDs aren't part of the replacement keyboard itself the LEDs were there as was the connector on the mainboard for the backlight cable (stock have 3 vs 4 ribbon cables). So yes, you can upgrade a non-backlit to a backlit keyboard.

Thanks was a little different than the M6600 and 7720.
