I desperately want more stories of the Ancients. Considering that Square-Enix has never said that all the ancient stories are done, only Hydaelyn and Zodiark, gives me hope that their story may not be done after all.

We haven’t yet seen all 10 of the sundered Convocation members. Since it seems that only one awakened sundered soul holds a seat at any point in time (relative to the Source apparently) we can assume that the rest are active on other shards. Do they know what happened? What are they doing now? Gaia presumably didn’t disappear or lose her memories so they other sundered members probably didn’t either. I really hope they don’t completely write them off.

@@kaleajadesilver8918 I think the wording was a small hole for Emet-selch to escape, with Lahabrea and Elidibus managing to slip through. It would make sense, since Hades as Emet-selch was close with Venat as Azem, and she has a lot of insight into how his mind works when she talks to you about him. I hope Pandaemonium will expand on how Lahabrea and Elidibus got through. They seem so disconnected from Emet-selch and Venat/Azem as people, outside of being fellow Convocation members.

10,000 years of grief and duty which he can’t even really share with his two remaining companions because one is choosing to forget and the other has gone insane.

It'd be pretty interesting to get a crossover where you hear from Emet what he's doing but it's framed more like a good thing, details left out that paint it badly, and you help him get back to continue his quest. Something that'd intrigue people who don't play FFXIV but would give added context, perspective, and be a nice "Oh shit" moment for players. Double points if he's in a different but similar body and the reveal is made right when he's sent back.

I’d play the heck out of a standalone game where you play as unsundered Azem going on adventures with Hythladeaus and Emet Selch (even let you import a 14 character as base). As for the ancients showing up in the main game. It might be wise to let them be for one XPac cycle and if they do show up again have it be minor with major developments coming down the line. I don’t want them to just be forgotten.
This does confirm my theory that he approached the Scions in ShB because he recognized the WOL.

The Ancients should have more stories. The Final Days timeline in Eitherys is ambiguous. Obviously it's at the end of everything but with Asphodelos being the raid line after the MSQ events of Elpis there could definitely be more stories involving The Convocation.

It depends on whether the side stories are canon though. In Pand, Themis is not yet Elidibus. But in the MSQ Elpis, Hythlodaeus tells Venat about Azem & the volcano. In the side story, he was Elidibus. So if that’s accurate, Pand has to have occurred before Elpis. Which brings up a lot more questions, such as how Azem knows about you. And I’m more interested in the Ancients than all the others!

Im sorry but i need emet- selch's journal. I know he has one somewhere. The man whose job it is to protect the "underworld" and know basically every factor and most knowledge doesnt just do that without writing any of it down. I felt that way at the end of shadowbringers considering how we learn of how long hes been doing this with such unwavering conviction and the implication at the end of Endwalker that he took on the duties of azem just to fufill it and honor his friends. Heck he might have done that with the others of the convocation considering all the crystals (which act basically the same as job stones only more potent) which would only go on to solidify his conviction and effort all these years. Plus with all of the narration in endwalker it seems likes hes even keeping tabs in the afterlife. Emet is totally an author and i need to see his works

Emet-Selch has become one of the most beloved "Villian"-Characters to me. He is incredibly charismatic and so well written, that I even felt a huge regret, when they faded in Ultima and hoped, that we will see him again one day. Since I understood, what he really wanted, I could define myself with his goals. And although they are threatening to my ingame-char, I really could understand, why he was doing all this. In Elips we all could see, that Emet is in fact a grumpy man with a heart of gold - although time and loneliness have changed him over in all that time, when we encounter him in Shadowbringers. The weight of the years is laying heavy on his shoulders in Amauroth.
And besides Emet-Selch, the trio of the ancients is just incredible together. Venat, Hythlodaeus and Hades - they were just great and worked quite well together in Elpis.
All in all - I really hope, that the whole story of the ancients is not over yet and hope, that we will see more of them in the future.

If they added too much stuff, so much so that it changes how we look into those characters, it becomes the case of 'Kingdom Hearts' , where if you want every bit of lore and story for final fantasy 14 then you'll have to go and looking into this very small piece of content that is outside of your game.
If anything ehat this story does is tell a beautiful and tragic story of a beloved character to, 1) people that don't play ffxiv but may be interested.and 2) giving a nice brief reminder to people that play both games, thr story of a beloved character.

Pretty sad about it and after what happened in Thule i was disappointed imo they could give us a bit more and also, what happened to them all? What's Next Theory
    1. Tataru opens up the Scions' Kingsman Tailor Shop
    2. Themis might be a relative or the son of Venat (White hair and blue eyes)
    3. The Convocation of Fourteen's direct subordinates are their Words (ex. Words of Lahabrea)
    4. Who are the Words of Azem?
    5. The biggest question is who founded Amarout and created the Ancient civilization.
    6. The Twelve are distrusted due to how they didn't interfere during the two Final Days.
    7. The Ancients likely didn't worship the Twelve because they either did not exist during that time or something else.
    8. Hythlodaeus was voiced by the young Dumbledore actor. Hythlodaeus and Emet Selch's friendship reminded me of Dumbledore and Grindelwald's friendship.
    9. It will be interesting if Meteion joins the Scions so that we can explore Dynamis and Aether more in depth.

Interesting as the Ancients can be, I don't think there's much more that can be feasibly told after Pandaemonium that wouldn't undermine them. It'd also be somewhat against half the point of the overall story to dwell on something long past.

As if I need any more reasons to fall in love with this character, Square goes and gives us the immediate moments after of the Sundering, and Emet-Selch's reaction to it. Just to twist the knife a little further, a little deeper.

Nah, I'd argue a civilization based on suppressing creativity and individuality, with no thought to the morals of their actions beyond "bettering" themselves, was always doomed to fall. Hermes may have been the one to light the metaphorical fire, but they were sparking for long before that.

Their civilization was always doomed to fail due to then instance of living in a world without sorrow.
In the Dead Ends dungeon the last area we visit is a civilization which knew no struggle and sorrow, but in doing so grew bored with existence as they found there was nothing else to achieve; Deciding to literally create a monster that could kill them and put them out of their misery. If I remember correctly, the devs stated this was a deliberate choice to show what COULD have happened to the Amurotians on the long term had it not been for the Sundering.

We have no evidence to suggest it isn’t. The other raid stories fit into the overall canon. Though I doubt it’s canon to the Nier universe.

Then when Estinien found the eyes in stormblood, they were empty of Aether. Also, they are also depicted to be a bottomless source of Aether. So how can you use a Bottomless source of Aether.
Also, remember how the white auracite and the Acsian work... I think the eyes would be able work in a similar way. I think the ascian could get out of the eyes after a while.
