This Kamikaze drone is small and low-tech, but is wreaking Havoc on Ukrainian armed forces.
Unveiled in 2021 by the Iranian IRGC, Shahed-136 is a unique delta-shaped drone that is capable of striking ground targets with extreme accuracy. With an 8-foot wingspan, it can fly at a speed of 115 m/h on a one-way suicide mission, exploding its 60 lb warhead on the final impact.
It can precision strike by hooking up to civilian GPS systems for guidance and can avoid radars thanks to its small size. The engine has a distinct, intimidating sound, but that doesn’t seem like an intentional design feature! It is launched in pairs of 2 or more from a launcher that is identical to a commercial truck, enabling rapid "hit-and-run" operations.
But how could Iranians produce this sophisticated drone in the face of severe US and international sanctions? Well, according to the US Army analysis on the wreckage parts, most of the components including control units and processors are made from inexpensive civilian-grade parts that anyone can buy online. - Розваги

Hypothetically. But the economy was not much bigger prior to sanctions in the 80’s and 90’s so I think any country needs more than just natural resources and headcount.

That is how China, India, and Bangladesh grew. You also have countries like Iran and Venezuela that have headcount and natural resources but not getting there. Add to this the cultural elements.
I am not against prosperity in other countries, just saying that you need more that just heads and resources to thrive.

If IRAN used low tech components in this drone it doesn't mean that Iran is not able to build high tech drones. Shahed drone was build by this strategy so it's cost effective and it can be sent in hundred of drones at the same .

The incredible thing about this drone is the material it's made from. Its body is made from carbon fiber composite which easily helps it to evade radar detection and at the same time improve its aerodynamic capabilities, decrease its weight and enhance its speed, not to mention its small dimensions which also prevent detection. It can carry either 4 or 8 missiles or bombs plus the suicide warhead attached to its nose. Very effective, accurate, almost stealth to radars and very affordable.. What else more can you ask for. Maybe they will make something similar to this, but it is not like this. The witness has a strong electronic system that is escaping from all the forest radars and destroys the target.
The logic of employing drones is to overwhelm air defence systems by sheer volume. No matter how good an air defence system is it cannot stop 1,000 drones. Once the Sams are exhausted the airforce moves in.
This is why drones are meant to be inexpensive so they can be operated in massive numbers.
I see some European countries trying to over-engineer and over complicate drones. They are unable to grap the tactics of drones in combat.

We can shut down the specific devices that show a speed and vector change that matches those flight profiles over Ukraine. If those things are using GPS they can be shut down and turned around. We need to capture a few of those to reverse engineer them.

The best fighter jet the Iranian military owns (F14) has become obsolete decades ago. Iran does not use old equipment in any way. The f14 jet that you said belongs to the army, but the drone fighters and cruise missiles that belong to the IRGC have the power to force NATO and the US to maintain military silence against Iran, and many of Iran's defense systems are not shown officially.
