I have a huge amount of respect for this video. It's just brilliant the way they handle it. It isn't "sexual minority overcomes adversity", it isn't even "trans woman finds acceptance in super girly things", it's just a person finding a community that loves and respects her. Absolutely wonderful.

Seriously, they haven't stopped putting out good music. It sounds like you long for their old sound, but they have some great stuff that less than 10 years old too!! As a 30 year old I’m really glad that I grew up in the UK while bands like the PSB were making it possible for people in my generation to grow up without prejudice towards gay people (I’m not Gay). It makes me really pleased to know that my two kids (5 year olds) will probably find it almost unbelievable that people ever went out of their way to make life harder for others just because of their sexuality. Great song!
I remember back in the late '80s they used to show roller derby on TV around here. I gave up watching TV years ago, but if roller derby was on again, that'd be something worth watching.

I LOVE THIS SONG! When i first heard it, i fall in love with it immediately. Some may call it cheesy, maybe it is but with many other PSB it got the power of making people happy and more confident too =33 There is no other band who are as good as Pet Shop Boys
I'll admit: the song took a few listens to really grow on me, but grow it did. Their mid-temp tracks can be like that. They aren't "radio friendly" and that's what I like. You either get it or you don't. As for their videos, they've alwas presented the opposite of what you would expect.
Why are so many people, even PSB-Fans incapable of grasping the geniality of their move? First they upload a dark song with a highly artistic video - Invisible. Then they upload the complete opposite: an "easy-listening" song, obvious, positive: Winner. Everybody thinks, they just try to profit from the Olympic Games, try to get back to the charts. BUT: As the video arrives, the lyrics of the song get a completely different meaning. "Winner" is not about medals. It's about tolerance. Thank you!!

It is about universal qualities - acceptance, tolerance and the embracing of individuality. It is about not being judgmental. It is about being allowed to be who you are meant to be. IT IS ABPOUT BEING TRUE TO YOURSELF and not conforming for the sake of not upsetting other people.
Hi. Diana is not a London Rollergirl, she is a fictional character. The producers approached us and asked us if we would like to do a Pet Shop boys video. After discussions with the team we made it clear we were unhappy with some of the script that suggested (as Max says) that the skater was a straight man as we absolutely read the character as a trans woman and suggesting anything otherwise was insulting to the principles of LRG. The producers changed the script, the video speaks for itself.

The government has decided that Radio One must direct it's musical content towards a certain demographic. They aim to please or attract an audience of 16 to 25 year olds and any artist or band who is over a certain age will never get played on radio one as they are deemed 'not relevant. Yes, there are other radio stations but they never support older acts and the term 'it's very Radio Two' really means bugger all!
Every transwoman, indeed every derby skater, has to find and walk the path that works for her. For Dirty Diana, that meant appearing in this video. Perhaps her portrayal as awkward is simply because that's where she is in life right now. Roller derby is filled with awkward figures, trans and non-trans alike, and in time I have no doubt Diana will bloom into something magnificent like so many derby skaters do.
If you're really the guy, then I'd like to say that I really enjoyed this video. I personally didn't think it was "weird" at all, it was a very refreshing change from all the usual god-awful videos we see from pop artists these days. And I'm a big time fan of PSB and I like the song, together with the video it's very memorable :). So thank you.
The "guy" in the video is one of my best mates, this is his first proper acting gig. Not the best for his image perhaps but a great gig and he's done great. The songs good too lol

However, whenever I go to their concerts, I'm always mistaken for gay just because I'm there...Unlike many bands that I loved (Erasure and Depeche Mode, to name a few), The Pet Shop Boys continue to put out top-notch music. Their last album still gets a TON of play on my iPod...
