1. Collaboration governments count towards the land occupied by whoever made those collab governments. Would've been quicker if you asked Germany for some states with notable victory points
2. German AI in Road to 56 clicks Reichskommissariat decisions the first moment they can, and those RKs actually *own* the states (and the Soviets have to take their land back in peace deal if they win). Thus, surrender progress changes and it takes even longer to capitulate them
Though I noticed with these RKs, the AI...absolutely cannot handle the occupation. Since they don't actually have cores on the land they own. So for example Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands in my games keeps rising up while the Allies can't land (those uprisings also end up being convenient for the Allies to land troops if they fail to d-day)

In hoi4 navy, there are only 3 ship designs you will ever need to sink enemy navies. They are cheap and they require very little research:
1) convoy escort destroyer build: depth charges, AA, and your best sonar -- these go in separate convoy escort fleets to cover your trade or supply lines.
2) fleet destroyer build: an AA, spam torpedoes, optionally also one depth charge
3) fleet light cruiser: max out the light attack, nothing else matters
Numbers 2 and 3 go together to form your main surface fleet. Light attack will shoot escorts only, until those escorts are dead, and then your fleet will focus fire on one capital at a time. The torpedoes will also tend to shred escorts until the escorts are dead, and will then shred capitals. Essentially, you will be killing their ships and exposing their capitals faster than their replacements can enter the fight. It may take multiple battles, but you will demolish one fleet at a time.
Set it to medium repair, and to split off damaged ships for repair.
have one or more small fleets of 10 to 20 destroyers on Patrol, with the rest of your fleet in port nearby on Strike Force. *Your Strike Force fleet is big enough to kill the British Navy once it has about 70 ships: shoot for ~20 LC and ~50 Destroyers*.
when it encounters a large fleet:
day 1: my Patrol fleet loses some ships, sad. Their fleet loses all of their escorts almost immediately when Strike Force arrives.
day 2: my fleet loses nothing. Their fleet is dead.
when it encounters a small fleet:
day 1: my fleet loses nothing. Their fleet is dead.
It is a build that is only countered by a better version of itself. Whether you're counting IC or manpower, this is the best strategy for sinking other navies. You can also build subs to help convoy raid, but that's something your main fleet can do even better, once you sink the enemy fleet.

Germany did the Reichkommisariat decisions which transferred state ownership of major victory points like Kiev over to the new states, meaning you had to push even deeper in the Soviet Union.

Is Road to 56 a good replacement for the DLC? I dont wanna pay $150 to play offline and have a good time. Ive been playing vanilla Hoi4 for the past 2 years.
There’s a expanded base focus tree that gives claims on neighbors. Not a bad mod give more to do with these countries that have nothing to do.
If I could, I would like to recommend a mod for you to use for smaller nations (within reason), and the would be the "Core With Compliance" mod. You can adjust the requirements to core the state in the settings when you load up a game, and REALLY helps in getting more manpower so that you don't have to rely on non-core manpower and to actually give more of a use to collaboration governments.
Have you tried Landlord? It is also tweakable, along with allowing the claiming and un-coring of lands (if you really want to I guess).
you might as well cheat with console commands at that point. defeats purpose of the game
@@willywonka6487 I think that's a bad way of framing it, it's an optional addon which you can use if you want to. It's not for everyone, hence why it's not official, but over console commands it makes it more polished. I do understand what you're saying, but at the end of the day games are about having fun and everyone has fun in different ways

You didn't capitualte the soviets sonner because of the reichkommissariats and the way they work.
Basicly, when they are created, they own the land were they are, in other words the is not occupied which makes the soviets have less cores and you occupiey less land.
Uniting Hispaniola comes with the downside of having Haiti as part of your territory.
I know it was probably a joke saying you love minor nations... but I'm definitely in that wheelhouse. Far more fun for me to see what happens from the nations that Paradox thinks (or sometimes actually) didn't do anything at all and seeing what mayhem can develop. Far more for me than "Can I take the nation who already has overwhelming potential power and somehow manage to survive?" kind of thing.
I mean...the ad did its job: it got a reaction out of you all. More likely to be curious to check it out, more $$$
