This is a note to everyone seeing this great video and considering the Fuji XT4. Make sure you go to a camera store and hold both of these cameras in your hands! 2. make sure to load zoom lenses, prime lenses (Sigma/Sony for the A6600) and Fuji lenses for the XT4. Now, hold each of these cameras, walk with them, see how they feel. I did this recently at a camera store and was convinced to get the Sony A6600. For those of you who are traveling, a lightweight small package is a must, not only for packing, but just carrying around. There is a big difference between a full frame body with larger lenses and the compact sony body with much smaller lenses. 2. Walking around with a huge camera for me just feels awkward, heavy (for 8 hours when outside, and immediately identifies me as a "tourist." I can carry the sony so unobtrusively in my hand, can hold it by the top, sides or bottom because it is so smooth with no buttons or dials sticking out, and I don't even need a neck strap, just a small cinching wrist strap, and it is light/easy to carry. Very cool, down low, and I blend in. I am impressed with the Fuji cameras, especially this one, but still happy with my decision to buy the smaller, more compact camera. Size matters :)

Thanks for this honest review. What gives me satisfaction, no matter which camera is technically better, is that ultimately, it is the photographer, not the camera, that matters. So, I agree with you that Fuji is better than Sony! I travel constantly (til now:) ) so size matters. I love the Sony A6000 series cameras for their tiny size and good performance. Walking around, carrying small lenses and a tiny APSC camera body is wonderful. The smaller size is also unobtrusive when shooting strangers in the street, pulling up the camera quickly, and holding it across the top, sides, by the grip, or anywhere. I also love the massive generic lens options I can get so cheap, from SIGMA (and others) so I don't have to buy the expensive SONY lenses. I started with the Sony A6000 and was torn when it came time to upgrade. I was aware of the Fuji XT3 but was turned off because it is somewhat larger with protruding dials on the top and a protruding viewfinder. That said, I absolutely acknowledge that the Fuji xt3, and now the 4, are superior camera bodies in terms of their specs. I also like the richer colors that Fuji brings to the table. I just bought the A6600 from BandH so I'm committed at this time to the Sony APSC system. Again, thanks so much for your fun review :)
Great video. I’m in need of a new camera and I’m debating between the two. I would get the a6600 because I already have some lenses but The X-T4 offers everything I want on a Sony. If I go the Fujifilm route, what budget lenses do you recommend? Thanks.
What is up with the skin detail on the Fuji in the studio shots? it almost looks like some sort of "beauty mode" is on and it is softening all the detail out. The Sony looks way more detailed (not just sharper but detailed) you can see every pore and facial hair.
As a professional photographer with over 35 years of experience I would absolutely choose the Fujifilm over the Sony for a multiplicity of reasons nonetheless being that I’ve been published several internationally recognized magazines with the Fujifilm I feel confident in using their platform I most certainly would not feel comfortable using the Sony
Hello Mr Benjamin, may i ask what setup do you usually use for the Fuji system? I'm using sony a6400 right now but have been thinking to get XT-3 for more professional job in the future. Many thanks!
You forgot say about one of the most important feature. Af eye real tracing. This working so good and just for that I consider buy a6600 I am going to put sony on gimbal and using this all time.

Thank you for this comp. Fuji use considering A6600 for the AF but not sure I can do it. ..6:33 those yellow blocks look so good because Sony seems to love the color yellow. The skin tones from the Sony are not good .. and this is not the first video showing this. Many. Can you share your thoughts on build quality of the X-T4? Did the top dials feel a bit cheap/hollow? I returned 3 X-T3 for this because the top dials on my X-T2 & X-H1 feel solid & robust. I was so close to grabbing an A7 iii or A6600 but these colors making me hold off.
the image from the XT4 and most fuji cameras are generally noticeably softer than the Sony contenders. probably because sony 4K is downsampled from a 6K sensor.
Nritya Lekha yeah I’ve used both cameras and I enjoyed using the Fuji as a B cam on set over the Sony. And the colors made it easier to match a cinema camera. It’s very impressive. As soon as you color grade that low bitrate Sony a6600 S Log, it breaks quickly
I own the a6400 but the Fuji XT4 offers pretty much everything I want in a hybrid camera. Especially for the price it’s unbeatable. I don’t feel like paying 3500 for the A7siii Also a side note, the Fuji has amazing skin tones.
I was debating between the A6600 and XT-3 earlier this year and ended up with the Sony because of the lack of record limit. The XT-4 tempted me when it came out (and obviously still does months later), but looking at the video side by side is reassuring. It's got a lot going on, but it looks soft in comparison every time. Most people forget that the Sony doesn't shoot 4k directly, but rather down samples from 6k. Both get close to being the perfect APSC, but I think it's easier to work around the A6600's quirks. Both stabilizations are poor, but it's easier to digitally fix the Sony in post. The Fuji ends up with a jello effect on the background no matter what. The color science is preference, but to me the Fuji can be over saturated on the skin tones too often. Sony cameras always have that slight green tint, but I think it works well for dark images for some reason. I'm more likely to keep the Sony clips as they are if shooting default. I think on average, Fuji colors are more likely to require correction depending on the subject's complexion. Odd, considering I like their colors better when it comes to stills. Also, Sony does better in low light, which is more useful than Fuji's slightly better performance in bright settings. Nothing an ND filter can't fix on a Sony, but getting more light for the Fuji isn't always possible. I really want to like the XT-4. I think it's a gorgeous camera, but seeing clips side by side prevents me from switching.
Thanks for the comparison. I have been waiting to see such a side by side comparison before I order A6600. To be honest, X-T4 is far beyond my expectations. For me, Sony was the king of APS-C and I was about to upgrade to A6600 from A6300 but now I am totally confused. There were three main reasons for me to choose Sony comparing to X-T3 but X-T4 took down most of them. They were: - IBIS - Autofocus - Dimensions So, X-T4 came with a pretty well-performing IBIS. Autofocus is also performing very well in your comparison. I read a lot it performs amazingly. I am not sure that it will be a wise decision to go for A6600 only for smaller dimensions. Actually, I have four APS-C lenses in my library and that puts pressure on me to go for A6600.
@@TheEverythingManYeah, that's true. Especially Sony gears are being sold super quick. I am already taking the photos to post tonight. I should make some money to invest in one or two essential lenses. Let's see if I can sell and move to Fuji. Thanks again.
... Sony is able to do the 'no record limit' because of the video capabilities. If 8-bit, 100Mbps, and 4k/30 is enough headroom for your needs then it is a solid camera. The X-T4 is just the better camera. It even ups the anty by having the option of pushing the video out to an external recorder at up to 4k/60, 10-bit, 4:2:2 ... no record limit there. I was expecting Sony to do more with the A6600, but it is clear to me that their intentions are to keep their APS-C line as a stop-gap to full-frame... and the only full-frame that has me interested doesn't possess an E-mount... it's not even officially announced yet!
@@GrayGhostDog1 i didnt say fuji wasn't better? Also are you implying that a no record limit is dependant on bitrate? From my understanding the limit is put there because of the camera/video camera distinction in which the latter would increase customs duty due to its classification. For my use the a6600 with its rock solid Auto focus and weight makes it perfect for fast event gimbal work, clients don't really care about bit rate. If I can make it look incredible its all that matters. The reason I think the E-mount is better than the fuji mount is because I can use the lenses on a lot of different bodies. From shooting prores on an fs5 or raw on an fs7 the lenses carry over and still maintain its amazing autofocus. Im hesitant to invest in fuji because if i do and purchase a few lenses, then that 1 body is what im stuck with. Unless 1 get two or hire another one which for some looks unprofessional. I would much rather have my lenses stretch over bodies that I can use for travel to shooting feature documentaries and everything in between. The X-t4 is nice but investing in the system has its limits. I would much rather invest 10 000 dollars in sony glass knowing i can mount it on something like an FX9 or The sony venice. Unless fuji start making full frame sensors and video cameras to match I don't think its that wise of an investment long term just yet.
The movie, as must be talking about the "size" and the "weight", so XT4 is not for common users for sure. And for the stabilization function and the focusing function point of view that XT4 disappoint me a lot which I compare with Olympus EM-! Mark II & III. So, I choice A6600 for my video cam, EM-1 III for the travel camera, and the Nikon 850 for my standard camera.
But X-T4 has nearly 4x the bitrate for videos, and records in 10 bit, not 8 bit. Olympus is ok for scenes that are not very detailed, but the codec breaks if many things are moving quickly. It looks good for travel though. I kinda want one.
*Not bad not bad... looking for something to replace my GH5 in the future* *BUT.. the ibis on GH5, I still think its the best of all cameras I've seen*
Idid 6600 get a price increase? Everywhere i look i see its ~$1400... Im looking for a camera between my bmpcc4k and g7x2 i love the size of 6600 but xt4 seems better (but also bigger and thats what il trying to get away from)
Tbh I was sold on getting the 6600 but you really convinced me to get the XT4, I really wanna use it for short films, that cinematic look and commercial style
So in your opinion the Sony still has the best tracking for video but how far off would you say the Fuji is ? Is the Fuji still a strong camera as it’s stronger in its video options and capabilities vs Sony’s.
I just returned my A6600. I still haven’t decided wether I’m staying with Sony or moving back to Fuji’s X-T4, but I am so glad I returned the 66 while I could. I bought it over the 64 for the ibis but damn, it’s useless. The batteries aren’t worth paying another 500 dollars for. The only reason I’d pick the Sony over the Fuji for is lens selection, but really it’s just that Sigma 18-50, which is coming to the Fuji this year. The tamron 11-20 isn’t though, but I’m willing to compromise on that for everything else Fuji has because damn, it’s an incredible camera. The X-T5 next month is gonna be amazing too surely, but I’m sure it’ll cost. So X-T4 is likely where I’m going.
I'm stuck between which camera to buy the a6400 with sigma 16mm or the fuji xt3 with kit lens. I'm mostly going to use it for music videos which do you suggest?
is it just me or the sony seems a lot sharper, even tough it's a 8 bit camera? also ... what about fuji's focus hunt? there is nothing in this video about it (must've been really hard to make fuji look better) ... but there are plenty of others who show ho bad fuji is when it comes to af/eye af ....
Bit depth has zero impact on sharpness. Sharpness is only affected by the lens and any in-camera processing. Fuji's AF is ok. Good enough for general portrait stuff, but not sure if I want to use it for fast moving stuff. I would still trust Sony with that. In video I only manual focus and treat the XT4 like a Panasonic. Philip Bloom's testing shows none of the Fuji lenses in existence focus as well as Sony.
A refreshing opinion piece not I like this format a bit better than the "stiff version like you usually get". And it seems like you are unbiased. Can you please share what is your experience about the dynamic range comparison between the two?
Not sure if you know this but you can change the focusing speed on the a6600. Interesting video though becomes I’m looking to go from a6600 to xt-4 or 5 😂
Great review! I've been debating between these 2 cameras - just went to a camera store to look at them side by side and play around with the menus. Your review is very helpful and to the point. One important additional consideration for me is the lens package - I prefer the Fujifilm 10-24mm f4 w/ OIS and 18-55mm f2.8-4 also with OIS - good copies of both can be picked up on eBay or used from B&H, Adorama etc... for at least 50% off the price of a new one.
Great video!! I honestly hope Sony doesn't forget about APS-C users in their next a7000 series. They really need a pro-grade APS-C camera like the X-T4 and put dual UHS-II slots. I really want to invest into E-mount since I'm aiming for the A7S3, but there's nothing in the a6000 series I can safely take out for important paid jobs.
dropin bars like its nothing while reviewing, im subbing, and damn Sony, better watch out for Fuji. Also the X-Pro 3 Fuji looks real good to me, want to check em out soon
Hey man. This is an amazing video comparison. Really learned a lot about the specs of these two cameras. Looking forward for more video comparisons on the futyre. Subscribes to your channel 🙌🏼
thanks, as well, for your comment about the need for cameras to create better internal image stabilization. I completely agree and think some day we won't need the gimbals
im waiting to see Sony's next apsc camera, hopefully a release is coming soon as this xt-4 is looking very tempting. Its tricky jumping ship when you invest so much in glass. I guess if Sony matched the fuji I will stay a Sony fan boy although I kind of feel Sony has taken so long as they needed to figure out 4k 120p without overheating. I just hope they update there 8 bit codecs
skip the a6600. I bought the a6400 and placed it on a gimbal for video. I have the x t4 hanging on my neck for everything else (photo, handheld video, slowmo, etc.).
One of the best UA-camr out there said it when you only had few a subscribers and saying it again simple! 😁... I am a Sony guy thinking of getting the Sony A7R IV full frame, Is there a canon I can get to match it or even better for the price?
I would go with like an A7S 2 for Sony and an older full frame for Canon as well if your not doing much video. Especially if it’s mainly for social media and nothing professional. Shoot in RAW and I bet you’ll barely be able to tell the difference between some of the newer cameras. Stills are a lot easier to grab a camera for. But if you want something good for video too I would go with the EOS R. Great all around camera bro
The Everything Man I’ve been keeping one eye on this EOS R for a while now, It’s just that 61MP on the Sony A7R IV will allow me to do more cropping.. Both video and photos would be the best. Thank you 🙏🏽
Fuji XT4 seems to be better in everyway. I don't think Sony a6600 can compare to that but I do think that it's more comparable to Fuji XS-10. Now I am considering to buy either Sony a6600 or Fuji XS-10. Hope to see your take on this.
Sorry but I just got a Sony a6600. The autofocus, the battery life, the 10 picture profiles, the headphone socket and it's 500 dollars cheaper, just for the body.
Stabilisation is not That bad. The most important thing though is that I'm buying into a system that will eventually lead me to full frame. Sony has one mount, so I can share lenses on both formats.
Why not mention ibis advantage in stills shooting, that makes a6600 better over a6400. I agree that ibis for video without a gimbal is very poor. This Fuji is better than this Sony camera, and it's beating it with their own sensor.
Here’s my dilemma ..... I already own the A6600/Sigma 16mm, 90% of my recording is done in studio on a tripod/slider, however I’m starting to taken my camera out more. If I’m being completely honest I’d prefer the digital stabilization of the EOS R on my A6600!
well, the fuji has some great feautures but the image quality is way better on sony in most of the shots. The shadows on the face basically is black in fuji while sony keep details
The Fuji warps makes bubble effects. Also the Fuji is the size of a full frame camera. Overall the Sony seems like a better buy for the unlimited record and sharpness of image.
The Everything Man It does seem like Sony is half assing the apsc line, with a questionable lens lineup and embarressingly incremental improvements from launch to launch. The A7 is the way to go in the Sony ecosystem, given the relatively low price bump and good lens selection.
For my professional photography I prefer Fujifilm X-T4, better color tones, good Dynamic Range, more setting options, sharpness and prettier style and design. Leave the Sony for Teenagers and their Tick Tock videos
Fuji APSC kills Sony APSC. I feel like Sony purposeful doesn’t want to make a pro model APSC because it will cannibalize their full frame? Who knows. Good video!
On face value... Literally on his "face" value, Sony wins... Just look at the detail on his face. Seriously, look at the video quality. FujiFilm has this soft textures while Sony is very crisp detail. Look at his cheeks while the video switches back and forth from the two cameras. The difference is so pronounced. So no, I can't go with fujifilm even if it looks better on paper. If you want to watch a great sample of this Sony Camera, go see Kreig Adams. Don't be fooled by specs on paper, guys. Again there are many reasons to choose which, but for me, quality-wise, it's Sony.
that Sony IBIS is non existent compared to Panasonic or Olympus. 6600 is only for the bigger battery. The fuji has a lens selection that makes more sense to me.
Nice comparison and clear cut. IMO IBIS in all Sony cameras are joke. The A7iii IBIS was something i never want to see anymore but i saw here another useless IBIS again. Anyway i am not a fan of IBIS anyhow i will leave that.

It’s a tough choice but luckily camera gear sells fairly quick on eBay and fb ... the A6600 is a good camera but I think Fuji is much more polished
@@TheEverythingManYeah, that's true. Especially Sony gears are being sold super quick. I am already taking the photos to post tonight. I should make some money to invest in one or two essential lenses. Let's see if I can sell and move to Fuji. Thanks again.
I really want an Xt-4 but i cant get past the versatility of the e-mount and the no record limit.
Fuji film colors are warmer and smoother I love it
*Not bad not bad... looking for something to replace my GH5 in the future*
*BUT.. the ibis on GH5, I still think its the best of all cameras I've seen*
GH5 ibis is great. I think the Olympus em1 3 is the best I’ve ever seen though
Idid 6600 get a price increase?
Everywhere i look i see its ~$1400...
Im looking for a camera between my bmpcc4k and g7x2 i love the size of 6600 but xt4 seems better (but also bigger and thats what il trying to get away from)
Tbh I was sold on getting the 6600 but you really convinced me to get the XT4, I really wanna use it for short films, that cinematic look and commercial style
does the X-T4 have video recording limit?
yes, 29 minutes
So in your opinion the Sony still has the best tracking for video but how far off would you say the Fuji is ? Is the Fuji still a strong camera as it’s stronger in its video options and capabilities vs Sony’s.
The Fuji was good not great.
My AF chart is
Sony
Canon
Olympus
Fuji
All the rest
The Everything Man okay excellent appreciate reply thank you.
Thanks ra, the Fuji has decent DR in Log but Sony is the DR champ
Appreciate cha! I’ve been using an IPhone 11 Pro Max with Moment lens hoping I could be a Iphoneographer, but naaa. The XT4 is on my radar.
Haha yeah smartphones are great but they don’t cut it in a lot of areas
Great comparison and humor! Incredible sloooo mooootion, for that subscribed! :)
I thought the A6600 comes with in-body IS???
Not sure if you know this but you can change the focusing speed on the a6600. Interesting video though becomes I’m looking to go from a6600 to xt-4 or 5 😂
Bro… Came here for the cameras subscribed for the bars!!! 🔥
I'm ordering my XT4 Friday, big hands made the decision on top of performance.
Ey! New Sub, personality is on point!
My man! 👊
To me on my screen the sony image quality looks a lot better, the xt4 look soft
Even when I’m not on UA-cam, I’m singing this intro song! Lol
Haha thank you Mario! 👊👊👊
Hey man. This is an amazing video comparison. Really learned a lot about the specs of these two cameras. Looking forward for more video comparisons on the futyre. Subscribes to your channel 🙌🏼
Thank you Jim! More on the way bro .. salute 👊
The Everything Man yeah keep it coming man 🔥
thanks, as well, for your comment about the need for cameras to create better internal image stabilization. I completely agree and think some day we won't need the gimbals
You are funny as fuck omg I died laughing at you lol
Loll thank you Breauna’ ! Appreciate that
Do you think because of this X-T4 next SONY a6x00 will step up the game?
im waiting to see Sony's next apsc camera, hopefully a release is coming soon as this xt-4 is looking very tempting.
Thank you my brother 🙏 More for stills or for video?
The Everything Man More for stills bro.
Thank you 🙏🏽
I didn't know David Blaine had a videoography channel... talented guy
The autofocus, the battery life,
the 10 picture profiles, the headphone socket and it's 500 dollars
cheaper, just for the body.
Can’t argue that .. Just Terrible stabilization. But everything else is sweet
Stabilisation is not That bad. The most important thing though is that I'm buying into a system that will eventually lead me to full frame. Sony has one mount, so I can share lenses on both formats.
The Everything Man and the fact that the lens system is not locked down like Fuji, so you get a lot more lens choice from third party manufacturers.
@@Michael-dx8qz Fuji has the most fleshed out apsc lens line up by an absolute mile
@@Michael-dx8qz Expect third party lenses for Fuji in 2021.
The Fuji auto focus is freaking out with that back light.
Yeah but I think that could be due to settings such as responsiveness, not 100% sure ofc
Awesome video. Thank you, sir.
X-S10 or A6600?
Amazing review. You mentioned fuji has more lenses, but I think Sony has more 3rd party lenses, correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks
Thanks for the comparison. I've been a Sony shooter, but that Fuji looks pretty good, especially the IBIS.
Up when you dropping that full track !
Your face looks much better in the fujifilm recording, looks like better skin color and have no flaws in fujifilm
Best review page by far
well, the fuji has some great feautures but the image quality is way better on sony in most of the shots. The shadows on the face basically is black in fuji while sony keep details
The Fuji warps makes bubble effects. Also the Fuji is the size of a full frame camera. Overall the Sony seems like a better buy for the unlimited record and sharpness of image.
I need a review of whatever toothpaste you're using bc them teeth are white af
Ibis on the Sony is virtually non existing. The Fuji looks jerky. Sony AF FTW though! Thanks TEM!
Thanks bro!
The Everything Man It does seem like Sony is half assing the apsc line, with a questionable lens lineup and embarressingly incremental improvements from launch to launch. The A7 is the way to go in the Sony ecosystem, given the relatively low price bump and good lens selection.
Are you related to a famous street magician by any chance?
skin tones i the Sony definitely yellow/green compared to the warm pink tones from the Fuji.
For my professional photography I prefer Fujifilm X-T4, better color tones, good Dynamic Range, more setting options, sharpness and prettier style and design.
Leave the Sony for Teenagers and their Tick Tock videos
Before I get demonetized for killing this shit 😂😂😂😂
You forgot to mention that with Sony you get the zombie skin-tone pack for free
😂 😂 you was light weight spittin in that lil rant. Good test with the camera's 💪🏽
Still waiting to see what GH6 will offer, happy days ahead.
I’m curious too but if they don’t step the AF game up I can’t mess with it
Focus hunting
Fuji APSC kills Sony APSC.
I feel like Sony purposeful doesn’t want to make a pro model APSC because it will cannibalize their full frame? Who knows.
Good video!
Agreed and thank you! 👊
Yes, that's the whole point. If you only want an APSC camera, go with Fuji. Not only lenses are cheaper and smaller but the selection is also larger.
I'm a Nikon shooter so neutral here - the Sony clips looked like they had a green cast.
Your intro I love it
Thank you Ambika! 🙏
Your skin looks much better on fujifilm
Nice comparison and clear cut. IMO IBIS in all Sony cameras are joke. The A7iii IBIS was something i never want to see anymore but i saw here another useless IBIS again. Anyway i am not a fan of IBIS anyhow i will leave that.
Can't compare those, XT4 has to be compared to the A7 IV
