One of the best advice I ever read by a world renowned designer was “small furniture and accessories in a small room make the small room look smaller, and vice versa”. As a child of hoarders, that Italian flea market gave major shivers. Sure there are treasures, but: so. much. overwhelm. Love your curiosity and ability to curate amongst endless aisles.
Italian health care is first class. My husband was very ill in Venice, and we had the same experience as you, Julie. Straight in to see a doctor at the hospital, no charge, free medications. Highly recommended.
@@Kas_and_Nacho you're so lucky, I've lived in Italy for 20+ years and have to continuously jump through loads of bureaucratic hoops to have my health card...
Love your channel and your fleemarket treasure hunts you get to find and take us along with you and see the beautiful sceneries. Wish you speedy recovery for your foot.
So sorry to hear about your foot but glad the trip to the hospital went well. The pictures are beautiful. Love the little cooking show. So much fun to watch. ❤
Love watching you shop the flea market but found it so entertaining listening to you talk to yourself while you were cooking. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I loved the first little picture--I spied it immediately even before you looked in that direction. The scene is great and its in the perfect frame for it.
You make my heart sing😊. You are so real, and little scattered aces, always thoughtful and respectful of others. You are the true definition of a woman who can and does do anything. All while being a loving wife and mother. Who knew you could be a strong and independent woman who doesn't hate men 🤭. Keep living your life, you good thing 😊❤
One of the things I learned with experience when going to antique markets, is I must have a list of what I'm looking for, going in. There are FAR too many wonderful and beautiful things, especially for someone like me who also loves OLD things, to not have a clear idea of what I'm after, and the more specific the better. Currently on my list, is antique brass candlesticks. It may take me 6 months to find them, it may take me 6 years, but *the hunt is on!* And it's so satisfying when I find exactly what I want, and it's old, and it was so worth the wait.
Love the pictures at 9:57 & 10:07! I visited Italy and Lucca for the first time in 2006, when I turned 60. I was with my sister, who has since passed. It rained that day, and I did not get to see as much as I wanted. Those pictures remind me of my wonderful trip 💕
I love your choices. All the pieces you picked had a calming tone. I shop second hand and never see anything that amazing. You have found a shoppers heaven.
I am so happy to know you are doing well after the accident. It was a bit worrying. And the Flea Markets, too overwhelming for me to even think I could go into the building let alone make any decisions. WOW!
Oh my god you at the end hobbling around, putting the apron on, translating your recipe and winging it had me laughing out loud 😂😂 please do more cooking with Julie. It's hilarious and so relatable
Awe! Julie you are so sweet! I love your videos especially your Italy ones! I wish I could be as independent as you are, willing to learn a second language, buying a home in another country and making it so nice. I really respect your willingness to try new things!
At about 8:51 there is a nice picture of plants with pink flowers in a frame with a mat that I like. I saw it again or one that is similar at 9:24. You zoomed past it a couple times. I love that.
Hi Julie. So sorry you hurt your foot and had to have stitches. So glad that the hospital closest to you was v good in their treatement. Hope you heal fast! Loved, loved, loved the flea market! And your little Italian home!❤❤❤❤❤
You’re in my idea of heaven!! I have a BFA degree and I love the art you chose. I could work there too and be perfectly content! Filled with treasures!
Julie, how on earth did you cut your foot? I pray you have a speedy recovery. I love shopping with you. My daddy had a booth at a local flea market. He would go digging in the dumps about 2 days a month. He found many beautuful treasures . I'm sure he would have loved going on junking sprees with you via you tube. I have several pieces he gave me that I cherish.. He was the sweetest man. I miss him! Can't wait until our next adventure with you. Until then have a great week.
Wow! What a feast of a store!! Julie, that first picture frame you showed shows signs of borer/woodworm exit holes. Be sure to treat it before placing it in your home to protect your other beloved furnishings.
The first two you said you liked are the ones I liked as well. So cool. 9:35 I love the black frame and the Italian street scene. When I broke my toe, I was in the ER for 7 hrs.
Hi Julie. Just discovered your fab vlogs. I just love a good brocante, I could spend forever wondering around my local ones. I’m from Kent but now live in rural central France. Hope your foot heals quickly and looking forward to your next vlog already. X
It is so cute the way you keep saying “oh my gosh!” when you were checking it all out!! You were obviously in your little piece of paradise! You kept sighing like you were totally overwhelmed. The way things were stacked would be hard to find anything….but you did just fine! You will be back! You should have your cooking segment on television! I sure go!! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
That little picture in the black weaved frame is great! OMG Julie! That brown transferware? plate on the wall you showed on the first place… I was screaming at the screen please please get that one! So beautiful.
We stayed at Hotel Lucca in Bruges, Belgium. It was built by two brothers from Lucca in 1365. They were merchants who imported goods from their hometown. After seeing this vlog, I understand why they were successful. Glad you got your foot treated. Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹
Oh my gosh, I would for sure shop until I drop! How on earth do they expect someone to get things off those tables? That's totally crazy but so awesome.
How absolutely mind-blowing the ER rooms here!!! HAAAA! The first time I went was the mid 80s and someone was smoking under a NO SMOKING sign! And yet, coming in at a rating of 5th in the world for quality, the nationalised health care system here in Italy is a treasure. I have lived in Lucca since 1999-so grateful for it. Thanks for all.
Julie-OMG-I love the pretend cooking segment!!! Always WITH Italian tomatoes-I actually go to Italy because that the only place where you can taste a real tomato!!! You really need a GoPro for these excursions, so you can have your hands free-it’s challenging to get used to, but, you will eventually love it. Try watching Josh and Hailey on Hairy Tornado in the states. They are very successful resellers. Also, have you seen Alla’s murals in ‘dreaming of a chateau’ in her house in Oro, on Lake Como? She is a brilliant artist who has done several murals throughout her and Sergi’s home. All of the artwork is hers as well. The garden is fantastic. She posts daily and I would suggest looking for her murals-I think you will love them! Thank your so much for all you do!!! You are a true inspiration!
Hope your foot is healing nicely💕, absolutely love seeing you sing a tune in between preparing Bruschetta! My favorite scene, so sweet and in joy as you prepared your meal for you and hubby. 🙌Bless you in pain and all, such a trooper❤such an inspirational woman you are to me!!🎉 Xo

Julie i would be overwhelmed too. It is fantastic to see such a place with so many treasures. How do you control yourself? Just amazing the items and variety of things they have!! Love this Julie❤
Just watched this video . 👏🎉💫BRAVOS 💫🎉👏for your fortitude & perseverance of presentation of the recipe with the stitched up sole of your foot...ouchies.. totally salivating with your flea market hunting. So many items there that aren't available here in USA flea markets... I use to be a seller at many of the southern California flea markets.. blessings to you & yours
I learned to make bruschetta from some nuns in Assissi that had an B&B at the convent. Put them on a griddle pan with olive oil, then rub in garlic, slice a clove in half. Then they served it like that with soup, etc. we ate more bruschetta the soup! So they had to learn us how to make it , but they also had a version with sundried tomatoes. And tomatosauce ( this was in april so tomatoes was not in season) II think they had a version with pesto and one with olive tapenade. I prefer the one You made with fresh tomato onion and basil, but let the salsa stay for a while to make it saucy and delicious ! Love thrifting!
So glad your foot is on the mend, when I saw you limping before going to the hospital, I was concerned. The two pictures you showed in the kitchen looked good there, the one on the stone shelf, nice colors on both of the pictures. Live with them where you placed them for a few days and see if they are keepers! On the bruschetta classico I think the final shot with the tomatoes piled on was beautiful, very authentic! I’m so there!
Julie, I LOVED the tiny paintings or prints that you thought were cheap frames. I would buy it and take it out of the frame to sell it. It would be cheaper for shipping anyway.
I adore the paintings and art. I can feel your excitement and am thrilled to follow you shop. Thank you for sharing your posts. We just returned back to the states from Tuscany. I love Italy.
Just found your channel. Can't wait to go back & watch other videos. Hope your foot is feeling better. I am learning to appreciate art/pictures. Collect vintage & antiques. However, art has never been my stongsuit. 😂 The bruschetta looks yummy. Have to add a little balsamic with mine. 🩷
I can’t wait until the sale of my house in Sicily is final and I can find flea markets to decorate it. Lately I’ve been obsessed with a bruschetta I made with what I had on hand that was so good I’ve made it a few more times. I grill the bread slices in a pan with olive oil until golden on both sides, then rub it with garlic. Then sauté halved grape tomatoes and rough chopped Kalamata olives just until the tomatoes are soft. Then I pile it onto the bread and tear burrata over the top with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper. So good!
The pictures are amazing. The dishes are amazing. I would have a hard time picking. I LOVED that pitcher it is gorgeous, I love the colors. I am so sorry you got hurt. I hope it heels quickly.
Praying for your foot to,heal quickly… paintings are beautiful.. and yes that niche is,perfect for your cookbooks..love your house it’s cozy and you are such a talented woman you did amazing work as you also did in Mapleton.. just lovely.. your husband is a very fortunate man to have such a lovely, talented and loving wife .. I’m glad you got your foot stitched up! That Flea Market was amazing❤️Your cooking show is fantastic👍🏻 I still love that ceramic fish at PG & Deborah’s in the new kitchen converted showroom from the trip you posted 2 weeks ago. Thank you for sharing! You find such wonderful treasures🙂
Wow, that is exactly my bruschetta recipe! I do mix my tomato, onion and basil in a bowl with the salt and let some of the juice drain, and the flavors marry. Definitely do the garlic thing, it is not overwhelming, it's delicious.
Sorry about your foot, cuts should always be a hospital visit ! Love the cooking sessions at the end, really glad you went with it in the videos and I agree with the cookbook placement ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
That place is like a hoarders dream! 🤣. It would be amazing to do some shopping there, not going to lie! So many treasures just waiting to be discovered!!! ❤🙃❤️Love the first painting you liked! The rest are nice too but the first one is my favorite! Round framed ones are great too! Love scenes from Paris too!❤❤❤ I’m coming back with you!!! So sorry you cut your foot! I hope that it’s getting better. Take good care.❤❤❤
I love your pretend cooking show! And I loved San Giamono. It was my favorite morning when in Italy last spring - touring the church , eating gelato & browsing the shops.
I love that store you visited, if I go there I will probably buy half of the store 😅😅😅 Those paintings were awesome...I love the candelabra, old books, coffee sets...etc
For Cooking Utensils: I use a ceramic tissue box holder. It is approx 5 in square and 6 in in height. Works great. Except if you pick it up to move it. I've had it for decades.

I agree about using larger prints. Great suggestion!
I agree as well🇨🇦
I’m in agreement as well. Using larger pieces makes the room more dynamic.
No no no. Proportion is everything and ppl overuse big art these days 😅

SO sorry about your foot, but glad Luke was with you! Love your fake cooking show! Parmesan cheese sprinkled on bruschetta is also yummy! 🤗
One of the things I learned with experience when going to antique markets, is I must have a list of what I'm looking for, going in. There are FAR too many wonderful and beautiful things, especially for someone like me who also loves OLD things, to not have a clear idea of what I'm after, and the more specific the better.
