I've always been a fan of FF, not every game, of course, but one thing everybody here is sure to agree on is a passion toward its music. It is simply incredibly catchy, inspiring, emotional and beautiful all together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing that nostalgia of my teen years enjoying these games again. Keep up the good work.
Honestly this is such a clean remix, as a fan of the FFX battle theme I love how you kept it familiar but changed it up enough so we didn't know exactly what to expect, beautifully done ❤️
I don't think there is any one single 'heir' to the franchise to be fair. Masashi Hamauzu, Yoko Shimomura and Masayoshi Soken are all incredibly skilled composers and musicians in their own rights. The only Square composer I genuinely don't like the work of is Takeharu Ishimoto, because it mostly just sounds unimaginative and like he uses basically solely loops to 'write' music.
@@Lowlander_ Yeah Square Enix has incredibly talented composers all over the company. Even when Square Enix was putting out mediocre titles, the soundtracks were always bangers.
@@tylorhobbs8920 I’m not too familiar with FF14 beyond a bit of the free trial but isn’t the latest upcoming expansion themed around the sea? And FFX has big ties to the ocean, why wouldn’t it be that one?
@@corrinflakes9659 It might be, but they've dropped a decent amount of lore bombs suggesting 9 is gonna be the one getting love this time around. Not to mention, I expect 8.0 at least, to be in roughly the same neck of the woods as Dawntrail since they've only unveiled part of the local landmass on the map. That said, they have already slipped in Yojimbo and Anima, so it's possible FFX is never gonna get a huge reference, and will instead slip in bit by bit as time passes.
@@corrinflakes9659The actual mainland location for Dawntrail is actually a reference to FFXI, namely the character Galool Ja Ja. Also directly getting a reference to XI in one of the raid series as well. Plus there seems to be hints at IX stuff as well. Not entirely out of the realm of possibility for X stuff to be included though. For context, up to now we've had direct references to a lot of the Final Fantasy games. (SPOILERS in case you want said references as a surprise!) FFI - The Warrior of Light artwork is prominent as an earnable armor as well as a boss. Matoya is a character in XIV as well. FFII - Firion outfit, the Emperor of Garlemald is similar in a lot of ways to Mateus, and Pandemonium is a raid series FFIII - The Crystal Tower is a MSQ-important raid series and is a prominent location throughout the story. FFIV - the newest expansion Endwalker was filled with references, such as the moon, Golbez, the fiends, Zeromus. FFV - Krile is an important character in XIV, and will actually have more focus next expansion. Exdeath and Omega are raid bosses. Eureka is a location. FFVI - Magitek armors are used by the Empire, Doma is a location, some raids feature bosses such as Phantom Train, the possessed painting, and Kefka. FFVII - Cloud's outfit, his bike is a mount, and the Weapons are bosses. Costa del Sol and The Gold Saucer are locations. FFVIII - Squall's outfit, and the Eden raids have references to bosses/music FFIX - Vivi appears in a side quest chain, Alexander is a raid series, Zidane's outfit FFX - doesn't appear to have many references yet as far as I'm aware. I could be wrong though. FFXI - has a crossover event periodically and Dawntrail will have a dedicated raid series and character/location references FFXII and Tactics - are both referenced heavily in a raid series and exploration side content. The antagonist group's names are references. FFXIII - has Lightning outfit and hair FFXV - crossover event, Noctis gear, car mount FFXVI - soon to get a crossover event with a Torgal Mount and Minion as well as Clive outfit. As you can see, the Final Fantasies prior to X have the majority of references so far, and I have a feeling X and beyond will be more prominently referenced in this new big saga starting with Dawntrail. Another thing to keep in mind is that these references are rarely direct universe crossovers, but instead FFXIV's own versions of these locations/characters/concepts. XIV Ivalice isn't the same Ivalice as the XII/Tactics one but very similar.
Oh this is delightful! OTT bombastic choir types are just so much fun sometimes that you just have to 😄 Loved hearing what you did with each section and the little lighter moments letting the synths cut through.
@@cantdestroyher7245 From a technical standpoint, Soken struggles to compose for scenes and create memorable melodies. His music is often very loud and busy too, obscuring many of the finer parts of his compositions. That's what I meant
Do you think you do a remix of Contest of Aeons or Seymour's Battle Theme in a style similiar to this one with an additional movement? Like an imagined "FFX Remake" music style treatment, where a song is remastered and expanded for more "phases" in a fight. Contest of Aeons has always been my favourite song from FFX, and Seymour's a close 2nd. Completely fine to ignore, but I think it'd be a fun challenge for you.
Seriously, if VIII and X don't eventually get given the Remake treatment, the world is doomed. Those games have as much amazing potential for expansion as 7 does.
Thanks for the comment! I don't take commissions, it's already hard to find enough time for music and I can't in good conscience make promises that I'm not sure I can keep :) I do take requests into consideration when possible though
@@SipiOvaskaThanks for your reply! It's unfortunate, but I understand 100%. It's not something I could really request, but I can at least recommend that you check out the soundtrack for Terra Battle (a now defunct game by Sakaguchi), which was scored by Uematsu and also had some tracks done by Shimomura, Sakimoto, and a few other great composers (although it's a bit hard to find the whole soundtrack on UA-cam; some songs are missing). I'm sure you'll find something you'll like!
We are likely going to get some FF9 remixes in 14 soon. Dawntrail is looking like the FF9 expansion. There’s a city called Solution 9 which is one of Zidane’s trance abilities and the new job Viper wields twin swords and can combine them into a double ended sword like Zidane.
Love how the logos look like waves crashing into each other
This is incredible! I love to see "Blinded by Light" in FF16 style!
I always thought the Logo looked like FFX now when you put them together it looks like Fire and Water.

Absolutely amazing rendition, thank you keeping in the synths. I really think a mix of orchestra and technology is the style FF should keep forever
I agree, I prefer listening to the original soundtrack when I play the HD revamp.
Uematsu is the undisputed King of Final Fantasy music, but Soken has proven himself to be the rightful heir and continue the legacy.

There's no way we aren't going to get this somewhere in the second big arc. My bet is Expac 7 or 8.
And likely will never be over for the relevant future knowing square and that games percentage of their profits lol
