  • When my Yamaha R1 fans stopped working and were glitching out, I wasn't aware of what the problem could be.
With a little research into how the cooling system is composed, I needed to find the fan assembly relay.
As a master electrician, I tested the fuses first to insure they were all good and not burnt out and located the wiring for the fans. I found them to be wired in series.
I went on UA-cam to see if anyone had made any videos showing how they tested the power for the fan assembly and found a few but they only showed a small portion of what they were doing replacing a part.
So, I made a video testing things on my moto and how to use the multimeter to test things along with how to use a jumper to see if the fans are burnt out.
Refer to that video for more on how to trouble shoot the electrical.
Again, I don't know if all R1's are wired the same, but I'm willing to bet they are.
I hope this helps if you run into this problem that way you have a showing of how to go about it.
My fans run great now, and the moto is running like a champ.
The fans come on around 219 degrees and cools the moto down very quickly.
    Remember, be vigilant and practice.
