The various Systems used to for moto helmets
Most have heard of DOT FMVOSS No.218 established in 1974 with little to no change since then.
Snell where helmet manufactures send their helmets to be tested. They have two types of testing done at 285G of force. M2020D and M2020R. Look them up for the testing and you'll see that it's contradicting.
ECE 22.05 and ECE 22.06 which does test at 275G, and most realistic testing and they test many helmets from a batch produced. However, ECE-22.05 didn't do penetration tests. whereas 22.06 has lots of tests and does a visor test with a BB gun and is a much better rating.
FIM does 3 tests at 275G to below 208G. This testing results in more of the actual hits a helmet may take during a wreck and has a better chance of survival based on the testing.
Just keep in mind that these tests are various and only mitigate damages to oneself.
However, the point in this video is for each individual to research and find the helmet they can afford with the most safety given.
I never researched any helmets or safety ratings until I ate shit on my R1, and as a new rider, I never received that type of information.
I didn't receive the information of riding gear other than get gear and wear gear, and those who said it had a monetary reason for advancing the gear they wear, yet never having documented a wreck or showing what happened to the gear and if it held up.
I hope that as the viewer you'll look at the gear I wore and how it held up as well as the helmet and it didn't cost me an arm or a leg.
I do not make money doing this nor do I care. I am sharing my experience with you, and you can take it or leave it.
As a new rider, save up to get the best helmet you can as well as moto boots, and pants. I found gloves that work in construction will hold up as I was wearing a pair of 40.00-dollar Klien gloves that held up fine. They may not on the freeway, but they did in the dirt and rocks.
I bought my pants off eBay and they held up fine.
Do your research and find out what moto riders who have crashed were wearing, that way you have an idea of what will work for your budget, but most importantly for your riding style and safety.
Every wreck is different as it can be on the highway, busy streets, off road etc., so consider all that when buying safety gear.
Be vigilant and practice and take your safety seriously.

How I recall my wreck
Переглядів 1219 годин тому
This is how I recall my wreck. I am not sure how it turned out as I wrecked since I was knocked out for under 30 minutes from what I was told. I can only speculate on the end speeds as I was not looking at my speedometer. I was paying attention to traffic and where I was going. To those who find gear cumbersome, there are options that aren't and work absolutely phenomenal. If you choose not to ...
My R1 after my crash

I can tell you from experience that it hurts to wreck and it's a process to heal. I'm saddened that my moto is looking like this after all the money and time I spent getting it fixed up and now I have to wait to ride and get it back to good again. I'm grateful that I survived the wreck and wore my gear. I love riding this moto very much and it's a beast of a moto. The moto was only responding t...
How good is your protective gear

For riders who wear brain buckets, designer helmets or no helmet at all, without moto pants, boots, gloves, shirts, jackets, or moto shirts. I give you my experience and hope you reconsider your decision in this. We have a right to ride without a helmet or any type of gear if we want and that's great and it should always be that way. I went out riding my R1 this day not speeding, not lane filte...
How good is your gear

I wrecked my R1. I always wear my gear and every piece I buy is designed for riders. One thing I will say, and I say this from my experience as of the 28th of September, that riding with a full-face helmet, gloves, pants, jacket or riding summer jacket like the Wicked Stock I had on, and moto boots will save a rider tons of heartache. These were taken while in the ICU as my helmet saved my head...
Ohming and testing R1 Fan ignition relay
Переглядів 3821 день тому
When my Yamaha R1 fans stopped working and were glitching out, I wasn't aware of what the problem could be. With a little research into how the cooling system is composed, I needed to find the fan assembly relay. As a master electrician, I tested the fuses first to insure they were all good and not burnt out and located the wiring for the fans. I found them to be wired in series. I went on UA-c...
Troubleshooting the electrical for fans on my 2010 Yamaha R1

I had been out riding when my fans started to glitch out. They were trying to start and were having a hard time. I was in stop and go traffic when the temp light came on, so I pulled over and let it cool down. (I still ride as long as it is cool, and I can keep moving and the moto stays around 160 degrees. Seems to be just fine as the fans aren't needed until it hits 216 degrees). But I finally...
Enjoying the ride
Переглядів 52Місяць тому
Going back up and encountering other drivers and riders. One thing I do when I encounter other drivers or riders, is slow down and take it easy. I come behind a car and stay back giving myself a cushion and I don't pass them because of blind corners and the double yellow lines and I'm not going to endanger them or surprise them by coming along super-fast on their left. When coming over roads I ...

When running any curves or twisties, it can be done safely and without putting others in danger. You can test your skills and find open roads with minimal traffic all while enjoying the power of your moto. I practice many different techniques going on long open roads with curves that will not only enhance my skills but keep me safe and others so I can utilize the skills that I have learned thus...
How dangerous is riding at night?
Переглядів 49Місяць тому
Night riding is dangerous, but to me no more dangerous than day riding. I say this because wrecks often occur in the day with cars and moto's. Whether we wear high viz, everything bright, there's that one moron driving who pulls out or cuts us off. Also, when a rider thinks the car sees them and is looking right at them, they are looking right through them. Another point in fact is as riders, w...
What about these road pigeons
Переглядів 34Місяць тому
The first guy was confused on the round about as we were coming into it coming in hot. He seen me, started to stop and realized he could keep going as there are two lanes. I slowed down seeing this and you can barely see it in the video, but he acknowledged it with a wave. Not a big deal as I'm prepared for things as I see them manifest. Second broad was tailing me for some time. Sped up then s...
Pushing my R1 out of the car wash

Washing my R1 and finishing with the spot free rinse I find neutral and begin to push it out to dry it up and wouldn't you know, a car coming through the back side of the car wash. Guess a guy can potentially get ran over even pushing his moto. XD They thought I was going to stop, but I had the right of way as that's supposed to be the side that cars come out of the car wash. They didn't use th...

Always be prepared for road pigeons
Переглядів 69Місяць тому
Road pigeon, what does it mean to me? Someone you don't respect, they don't do a lot, usually annoying, a bench warmer in sports, an unskilled player. Just fyi. It's used in British slang and is actually funny to me. For me, the road pigeon is an unskilled driver who's playing a game they aren't good at and should be a bench warmer in the passenger seat. You can be the judge of that in these vi...
Moto life

The things we see while we venture on our moto's. It's just amazing to be able to stop and get off and see the beauty in the world that few stop to even acknowledge or are too busy chasing the city life. This is what i enjoy and always want to see and take in. Enjoy the life we have because it's only one and then gone. Doesn't mean be reckless, but actually live and let live. Be vigilant and pr...
