Nice try there, I'm sure you'll have it figured out soon! Thanks again for the mail, we did our mail call live stream and had fun showing off all the stickers you sent 😎👍🏻
Hey Martin, that's a cool way to try it. This equipment is more accessible for most of us. Have you gotten it down yet? I wonder if you could use a silicone mold and cup instead of the cast iron and ceramic crucible. Like the ones they use for baking? xx Amy
I have a graphite crucible. And I'm going to reseason the ceramic one. I'll give it another go soon. I may use my weed burner attachment for the main heat source and still use the Mapp gas small torch. I didn't get the crucible hot enough the first time, and the gold cooled off before I could get it in the mold. More heat, more borax.
@@RandolphRelicRecovery I am just a girl, so I think that might be to much for me to handle on my own ! I will have to leave it to the experts, unless they come up with an Easy-Bake-Oven version.
You will get it figured out :) Looks like you have what you need, just need to move quickly I see before it starts to harden up on you. Great first try Martin 👍
Hard to make a nice shiny button when the gold has impurities in it. Adding silver is one way to extract the impurities you have to get your goal down to about 13 K and then your silver Hass to be about 75% of the total weight that’s when you cross the threshold of many distillation processes with three types of acid muriatic, which is vinegar and salt Sulfuric the stuff that runs your car battery and one more that I can’t recall but it’s early and I’m on the shitter at one point you will recover all of the silver but it won’t look like silver anymore. It’ll look more like Jim Jones juice. It’s not complicated, but it is grueling and quite dangerous. I wish they would make a machine for it like those instant bread ones.
Good morning Johnny! I'm going to try another batch with some more scrap. It's interesting. I've seen videos using acid and heat. I'm not doing that. Probably melt some silver next.
You can actually use a microwave to melt metal without damaging it by using silica sand, which diffusers the wave from hitting the metal, but you get the intense heat do a quick search if you are interested in seeing how that works

Awesome stuff.. Gold is Gold and it will add up over time.. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I've got a bigger batch I want to try next.
I used some welding gloves when I was heating the crucible. The dam touch kept shutting off. Live and learn 😮

Thanks Marlon! I'll give it another try soon.
Very interesting ,, must be a learning curve there.
Also thought about the purity of a piece.
Hi Rick 👋 I'm going to try a graphite crucible next. See how that goes.
You still have all your fingers thats a victory!😂😂 that's a nice little button especially for your first attempt.
Now for the 100 kilo pour!
Awesome stuff great for a first try.
Graphite crucible next time.
very nice video
It was a fun project. Thank you!
Looks like the beach hauls are finally paying off for the retirement stash!!😎
I might be a but behind on that! It was interesting. Learned a lot. I'm going to try a different crucible next time.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Practice makes perfect. You did it. Awesome
I learned a lot. Next one will be better.
You forgot the gloves 🧤😂

Hi Deej 🥰 it can only be up from here.
very good try try try again
I'll be back for round two.
would like to see that
You gave it the old college try, Martin!❤
Hi Cynthia 🥰 At least I didn't lose the gold.

Never been accused of being real fast! I'll try a graphite crucible instead of ceramic next time.
Well when you find one that works good. That will be the one I get. Thanks brother
It could have been operator error!
Hi Martin , check out Mount Baker Mining and Metals on UA-cam . He does some video on smelting gold. He has a good channel if you are into gold.
I'll check him out. I just want to melt some scrap silver and gold. I have a good bit of silver earrings with zirconia. I want to try and melt.

Good morning to you as well. Have you ever tried to melt metal in your microwave?
@@notrightjohnnydetectingjun8028 I did once. The fork didn't look too bad. But, the new microwave looked even better.
