Sorry for my late reply, I'm sure you've grown them by now!.. But no I don't water them again at all until I put them under light. I should have mentioned this in the video 👍
Hey, thanks for the question. With pea shoots, I recommend you water abundantly when seeding on day one. Then water abundantly again when you unstack them. Then water them once every 2 days after this for as long as you grow them for, with just enough water so as the plastic of the bottom tray is covered....Be careful though with other microgreens as they will be more sensitive to watering heavily like this. I hope this helps, best of luck. .
Hi Brian, thankyou for sharing, can I ask where you purchased your watering can you used in this video thankyou, and please keep your videos going, all the best chris.
Hi Chris, thanks for the message. I have a podcast episode all about pricing, I think it will answer this question for you. Here is a link to in www.buzzsprout.com/1065427/4065521-ep-7-how-to-price-microgreens
Do you ever use 3% hydrogen peroxide for mould as I've seen others do or is your process pretty much safe from disease . Starting my second pea seed tray today using your seed calculator as at my first attempt I covered the compost completely with seed and ended up with shorter in crop height but still tasted amazing. Thankyou for sharing am enjoying watching your videos very much.
Hi Steve, thanks for the nice message. I don't use 3% hydrogen peroxide, I just don't find the need to use it, watering, light, and air exposure are usually enough to stop any mould I ever get, that's just me though....... One thing you can do to get taller pea shoots, that isn't in the video, is put an upside down tray with no holes over your pea shoots after you unstack them, it will act as a dome and block light, blocking light will cause the shoots to stretch taller, they'll have more room and ability to stretch under the dome than they do when theyre stacked. Hope this helps.
Hey Stephen, Pea shoots will grow back for you if you don't cut them too low when you are harvesting them. They will grow back very very slowly though. This is fine if you are just growing for personal use. If you are growing them to sell, you will need to restart all over after every harvest, this way your harvest times and yield will be consistent. Hope this helps......I have a podcast episode answering this question in more detail if you would like to listen. I've done it both ways, I found though that some varieties of peas didn't grow as well when they weren't covered with a little soil...Some do great soaked and just spread on top of the soil then. But the most consistent way I've found to grow them is use a little soil to cover....The other thing then is that soaking them adds an extra task to the whole process, and the more tasks you can eliminate, the more profitable your business becomes
@@brianfaulkner2840 Yeah - less effort = more profit. Makes a lot of sense if you are trying to run a business. I'm just growing them for personal use so time spent isn't really an issue. Anyway, I soaked them for an hour, and then covered them with soil as per your recommendation. Looking forward to having fresh greens in a couple weeks.
You sure can, but they are a little slow to regrow and the yield can be lower than first time around. Just don't cut them too low, they'll regrow fatser then.
Very helpful information, exactly what I was looking for, thanks for sharing Brian!
Hi Dan, thanks a lot, I'm glad it helped.

Would it be easier to soak them for a few hours before spreading onto the soil?

Can you do one on micro coriander/cilantro
Mine got all mold
Why do you put weight on the peas?
Aren't pea shoots the one microgreen crop that you can harvest more than once?
