I have a beautiful orchid pot that has excellent drainage holes. I'm going to try this and just let the popcorn microgreens grow. I'm not interested in eating them. I have a grow light that I plan on putting them under. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your video...I grow these by special order only. You're right, some customers love the taste, others not so much. Personally, 2 or 3 in a salad or stew gives a nice pop of sweetness.
Lovely video and also useful. THANK YOU! I will grow corn sprouts for my cats to eat. Yes, it is for my CATS!! It is very good to remove hair balls from the cat's intestine! Once again, thank youuuuuuuuu
I'm growing some sweet corn shoots but they haven't unfurled yet. I don't know yet how they taste. Mine did get some mold on them and started attracting fungus gnats so I poured some peroxide in the seeds and I think that helped get rid of most of it. I never knew you could grow them in total darkness. I grew mine under lights after they germinated, so I guess I'll see if they taste good or not. I hope I didn't ruin them.
Funny enough i just grew my first tray(small tray to test). Need to get a proper black out dome though. They are a little green. When you harvest and package them. Will they still turn green or is it ok to package as you would any other microgreen
Great stuff, hopefully they'll be more yellow for you the next time... I've seen them turn slightly green in the package when they are left in the light. If they are kept in the fridge in the dark, they should hopefully keep their yellow colour.
Thanks for this, just harvested a small batch for the first time. Quite a few of my shoots didn't sprout though and whilst some of the leaves grew massive I thought they'd be straighter. Any idea how to improve these? Airflow? Humidity? Seed density? Cheers :)
Hi Lewis, from time to time the corn seeds I use don't have a great germination rate, this might be the same problem for you. To keep them straight, doing a really good job of blocking any light will help here, if there's light sneaking in on one side, the shoots will grow towards it. Not an exhaustive answer, but I hope it helps.
Hi Brian ... Nice job explaining things - I appreciate your time & your clear instructions. I am new to all of this, and I'm wondering if popcorn mg's can be grown 'without' a medium (ie) just a tray with the small holes and a solid tray underneath OR if not, can they be grown on top of paper towel - or do they really need "soil" ? Can you tell I'm trying to avoid using soil (lol) Again, Thank-you for the video & I like that you showed the 2 different ways and the outcomes. HAGN : )
Hey Cindy, thanks a million, glad you liked it. Lol you really don't want to use soil? I have to be honest and say I've never tried to grow them without using a growing medium, so I can't give you a definitive answer, maybe it is something I will try out! My guess would be that they might struggle to stay upright because they grow so tall and their root structure is not nearly as strong as say pea shoots, so they might have a hard time not having the support of the soil. But again, I don't know this for sure. If you try it out, maybe you could come back and share your results! Thanks again
@@brianfaulkner2840 Hmmm, ... Thank-you for the info re: their Root structure & they may not stay up right : ( I did not know that! ... I have only grown Pea Shoots, 1st in soil - it was a total Disaster for me/mold etc - then I tried paper towel/ way better - then soil less & it was Amazzzing / Great results - so, I guess I'm SOLD ON No medium !? lol I may 'try' ... so, if I do, I will def. come back & let you know the results ! : ) P.S. All I saw was a lot of old people w/ gray Hair (b/c of driving from place to place in the Bus - I wasn't very tall) ! LOL - but, It was reallly Pretty, Lovely people, neat rest's/pubs & Castles ! lmfao. the video advertises "without a lid". then sticks the product in a tiny room which is lidded on all sides. should have just been called "Dome alternatives".
It sems to be a love or hate relationship with the taste of popcorn microgreens! Do you like the taste of them? and how would you describe the taste?
I like them most in a bucket, with lots of butter and some cheese powder, oh wait....never mind!...hehehehe
Agreed
am i to assume these come from a generic bag of popcorn kernels you would buy from a grocery store?

I've seen some people spray water mixed with hydrogen peroxide, would that have stopped the mould?
Great video, I love your Faulk-in accent m8! Sounds like lentil MG's as well, too tall and they get tough to chew.

Cindy, hey mate! Did you ever try the popcorn without soil? thanks!
Здравствуйте, у меня микрозелень низкая, как вы делаете такую высоту микрозелени?
You can get microgreens to grow taller by keeping them in the dark. If they don't get light, they will stretch taller in an effort to find light!
Can you use reg popcorn kernels from the store?
yes
I love the content
Thanks a million Mary 🙌
