As I’ve gotten a bit older I’ve naturally relaxed more which helps with patience, but when I’m frustrated, agitated or disappointed, I remind myself that God is in control, which helps my patience take over and I relax. Additionally, I do my best to be in the Word of God daily. I also meditate which puts me on an even keel.
Also, I have multiple forms of unresolved trauma, and I’ve been in therapy for it, but it hasn’t fully resolved it. Yesterday I asked God to heal my trauma so that it no longer interferes with healthy things, and the next day I felt so much less of a weight on me than before. It was such a relief and I wondered why I haven’t asked Him before!
I have a similar story about not being the best dad I could be when my girls were young, but I’ll tell you as a mental health therapist, that it’s never too late to repair that time. When you have a chance, if you’ve not already, simply apologize to them while describing any specific moments from then. Not only will it help them and you, but it will also teach them what to do when they need to repair.
    Thank you for this video!
