Impressively filmed and photographed, James. And the music!!! I really like the long cello part of the music throughout the video, and when played in such minor tones, it corresponds to what I feel when I watch your film (on the big screen of the TV, by the way). Where do people go, where do they live their lives, do they have a good future? What fate awaits them? You can hear their laughter and see the joy on their faces. The boys 1:15 with the skateboards, for example. How will her life continue? And that of the children who climb the wall. The sequence with the train afterwards in the beautiful colors - that's like a symbol of what I just mentioned. Everything goes on - time doesn’t stand still. What is impressive at 2:48 is the many pedestrians who move towards each other and then diverge again - all on their own path. I really like the scene at 7:58 - the child jumps up so happily, then runs away and disappears into the background. Much of what I see is thought provoking. The special colors in the video do this - but also the black and white photos - everything fits together harmoniously. Very interesting to watch and listen to. You also did a great job editing the film! And when the movie ended, I started again, but with my eyes closed - just listening to the music. A special experience because I already had the images in my head.
I’m thrilled you enjoyed it that much! 😁 it was a good night for both photos and video. I’m so familiar with Shibuya at this point that it didn’t even feel like I had to “find” things to shoot: they all just played out in front of me and I had but to observe. As always, thanks! 😆
the Ricoh has lots of in-camera filters/ adjustments---what did you use of that--or if not, what generally are you doing in post? thks for the chill night tour!
Glad you enjoyed it! I don’t typically use any camera filters or do anything in camera as I just shoot RAW. For editing, I usually just fix the exposure, set the white balance, and then adjust the contrast and color saturation to my liking. That's about it 🙂
How would in general rate the video capabilities of the Ricoh ? On a different note, I loved the faint glow around the light sources in the video clippings. Was that because of some filter ?
Eh, I think it's hardly worth talking about. If I wanted to use it for video, I might as well use my phone which is a lot better and has more capability. And yes, I used a black mist filter to add that glow to the video 🙂
catching up bro, great atmosphere in this 🎬✨
Thanks bro!
this kind of cinematic journey ,love it
Happy to hear!
very very !! cooooll!!!
Thank you!

Did you shoot the videos in the Ricoh GRIII as well ?
Nope. Quite impossible to get that kind of footage with it. All the video is shot with an XT5. Only the photos are with the GRIII.

Nice. Thanks for the replies and hope you are doing well. I love the work you produce here on UA-cam.
Thank you!
