Musical accompaniment for this video is SUPERB! The transitions from block or section to section is again, absolutely a fitting benefit to your narration. It is understated but just feels so right as you describe all the reasons you work with this marvelous instrument for a photographers creative needs. I own several of Ricoh’s GR series. Your video is a valuable asset. Thanks.
Excellent video. Loved the pace, the pauses and the great calming background music not to mention of course, the excellent content. Very original and interesting!
Impeccable Ivan! The sheer amount of work you’ve put into making this video is so beautifully visible! The nicest and most inspiring camera review I’ve ever seen. 💯 I’ve been thinking of getting a new camera, so from the influences of Sam and this video I might get a GR tbh! Great work 🙌🏼
Excellent video, Ivan! There is something to be said with the connection of a camera. Just like a piano a camera becomes an extension of yourself. It is an instrument of expression. Thanks for your video!
Wow .... Just wow! What a superb and touching video, dear Ivan. And what a "mean" appetizer. Thanks to you and your video I will purchase tomorrow the GR III ... (and ruin my bank account) Massive and heartfelt thanks! Hope you are doing good so far. Best wishes from Hamburg, Jann
Thank you for creating videos that inspire me to step out, observe and shoot. I just got my GR3x last week, am enjoying every moment of it. Always looking forward to your content!
@@HoLeeChit11 Lol, didn't mean to one up anyone, it's my first GR. Am glad that I took the plunge, so that I can learn from all the gr photographers here.
Congratulations on a wonderful video! I enjoyed watching this so much. I am interested in getting a GRIII and have watched so many samey samey video review on it that I thought I could never watch another. Then I watched yours. Such a great story woven into a camera review. Beautiful visuals, music and pace. Great work! I think you might have just convinced me to bite the bullet and get one.
My trusty GR with flash is old school compared to the GR 3 but it’s been my go to street camera and the flash adds just the right amount of pop when needed. Great video and storytelling.
crazy how watching your videos has inspired me to invest $1000+ in a camera/equipment.. in less than a month I’ll hopefully be in action doing this. just know that your videos are helping people like me find a place of serenity that can’t be found too many other places.. thanks :)
It's ok everyone, after 0:54 the scary man goes away. lol Lovely video man. At this point, I sold some stuff already. I hope to get the X sometime soon. But I have this one camera in, one out policy. So I have to pace myself. Anyways, do SL2-S next? I know you don't like to focus TOO much on gear and thats for the best, but I really am thinking about it vs. the S1 or S5. WOOSH.. thats the sound of money flying over my head..
Another great one. It´s amazing why only recently I found your channel. Perfect mix between photography content and top notch video production, so well organized, trully professional. ...and La Marzoccco... I knew it hahaha. For the Coffee Connoisseurs, says a lot about your approach to the rest of the gear you chose to develop you love for photography.
So amazing and absolutely love the prints. The note about the dust and keeping it clean is seriously so real for me, with my GR2 that I use frequently dust is definitely an issue on the sensor especially when stopped down :(
Is there actually a way to clean the sensor? I’m debating on buying a GR3, but reading all these complaints about the dust, I’m kinda leaning towards an A6100 or something instead…
Great video, I truly enjoyed it. Genuine words, great story telling, and inspirational. I have been debating on getting the GRIII for everyday photography as well as some street, as I'm intrigued. Thanks for this!
Another amazing video Ivan! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, always so informative and inspirational. Photography aside looking at your work makes me miss Toronto. Cheers!
Nice hand trick man! This is truly my kind of camera review content. Super! As always very well made and so nice for enjoying my Sunday evening. May I remind everyone this video goes well with a cup of hot tea.
Great video Ivan! 💪🏻👏🏻🔥 I’ve found what I was looking for in GRiii. It’s perfect for street shooting - it’s like mini stealth street fighter haha all the best and keep up the good work man!
Thanks for this Ivan, and "hello" from a fellow Torontonian! You've pretty much covered everything here - the good , the bad, and the ugly. I've had my eye on the GRIII to use as a secondary camera, but I've seen that many have had a great go at using it as their primary. I can live with many of this camera's quirks, but I do believe that Ricoh has a great opportunity if they improve the build quality and add weather sealing - especially given that Pentax DSLR's are so well known for their ruggedness. Speaking of Pentax... I'd really love to see the wonderful new sensor from the K3iii in a future GR camera. Ricoh, can you give us that please??? Lastly, I'd like to say that I'm really glad to see that you've been making prints of your work. Cheers!
What a great video. This content is gold, glad I stopped by! Subscribed ;) and yet to understand those 8 dislikes button. Either misclicks or people who can’t do any better for sure. Keep those vids coming, Cheers
Incredible video. I’ve owned mine now for about a month and I’m already starting to feel it’s magic. I leave my Sony A74 at home most days and can see that only becoming more the case. It forces me to rely less on tech and more on composition.
Awesome video, Ivan! Couldn’t agree more with your thoughts and impressions. By the way, I do use the wheel controller on my GRIII, and unfortunately the controller stopped functioning normally within months after I purchased the camera. Now, about a year later, the repaired controller is starting to act up again, which is really frustrating. Still, I’m loyally in love with my GRIII. There’s really nothing else out there in a small form factor that performs so well in so many ways - sharpness, AF, metering, rendering, etc., etc. It’s a gem. The addition of weather sealing (and better quality for the controls) would make it just about perfect.
What a beautiful review, if we can call it that. Of course I watched it because I am interested in purchasing a GR III. I am fairly new to photography, coming over from watercolor as my main creative outlet. I am enjoying it very much. I own 3 cameras, and my favorite is the first I purchased, the Canon M6. The oldest, less in specs, but feels so right in my hand. After watching this, I am encouraged because truth is, what you describe here is often how I feel about the M6, with the 22m lens. I do want something even more compact to go with me everywhere. Thank you for sharing your journey with this camera and creating such a beautiful video. Truly a piece of art!
Great video, lovely music, astonishing shots... makes you really want to buy one. Which I'll probably do, hoping dust won't let me down.. III or IIIx is my doubt. Both have their pros for street ...
Great video! 👍 I have a GRIII for few days now. Didn't really used it for street yet, but with my family. Slowly falling for it. A great complement of my Lumix S1R I think. Can't wait to try it out more! 😉
heyyy just picked up this camera, super excited to try it out over the weekend!! May i ask where you got your photos printed and framed?, i quite like the black frame shown in this vid! Thx in advance!!
As an x100 shooter, one of the hardest things to do right now is controlling the impulse to buy a GR. Everytime I see a new video about this camera, the symptoms get worse 😭
Great to see you again Ivun. It's been awhile. Are you still in Toronto? The closing segments, walking thru the snow, lead me to believe you are. My go-to travel/street cam is the trusty Nikon Coolpix A. It's an APS-C sensored replacement for the historic Nikon 28Ti. Same 18.3mm lens as your Ricoh with perhaps an even better build quality. Wondering if you ever shot the Fuji X70, a similarly spec'ed camera?
Amazing video... Thank you so so much... After watching many videos, you answer in the most eloquent way about the dust issue, which is my main concern getting this camera. About the battery "problem", since you use it that much, why don't you get more batteries... I own the Fuji XT2 which I love and when I first got the camera, I bought another 5 original batteries, because I wanted to use it for pro video shoots too. I understand it is kind of inconvenient but where is the problem in getting more batteries if you love (and use that much) the camera? Take care... :)
Nice video! I've been looking into getting a GR because I've been really into Street Photography for my past time lately. My mirrors less camrea is still too big and sometimes my subject notice me throwing off the composition is was going for.
Great video! Can you make a video about your printing process from taking a picture to hanging it on the wall? There isn't a lot a resources about printing and framing :/
ivan i have great 'respect'..for your knowledge..talent...honesty...on The GRIII...i was 'Strongly-considering'...but i've learned in the last few days..the GRIII ..May NOTBe for me. Best Ricoh commercial ever..

Amazing work. Makes one fall in love with the camera and photograpy. Thank you for sharing your story.

Great video, as always Ivan! Always delighted when one of yours lands 👍
Appreciate it! Thanks 🙌🏻
I just love the pacing you take in your videos. Slow, relaxing and captivating. Much love
thanks!
Excellent video, Ivan! There is something to be said with the connection of a camera. Just like a piano a camera becomes an extension of yourself. It is an instrument of expression. Thanks for your video!
I love the visual journey you take us on. Complimented by your words. I miss my griii.
Another great video bro. Great to see many great photo and walks in town before you left. Keep it up.
Thanks man! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
What an extraordinary fantastic „review“ about this little camera!!! Really awesome!!! I‘ve never seen it better before 👍👍👍
Ivan this is the most beautiful review of a camera I've seen. Great stuff!
Thank you!
My perfect everyday companion, a great companion indeed. Great video Ivan.
Thanks!
I can't decide which one I like more... the review or your photography. Awesome!
Thanks!
Very good pictures and excellent review of a true photographer, not pixel peeping at 200 % on a computer screen ...
Great video. Made me want to grab my GRIII and go out right now!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and shots for this review.
Let’s go 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Wow ....
Wow this video was so spot on ! I've watched it like 3 times haha I love my Griii
Thanks man 🙏🏻

Awesome 😉
My trusty GR with flash is old school compared to the GR 3 but it’s been my go to street camera and the flash adds just the right amount of pop when needed. Great video and storytelling.
I should’ve mentioned that too, really wanted a flash on the GR3. Thanks for checking out the video!

I have an S1R, a truly great underdog. If you have some questions about it don't hesitate. 😉
As a fellow Torontonian and recent GRIII convert I really enjoyed this video. Great job Ivan.
Thanks!

My wheel completely went on the fritz too and it costs way too much to repair. @Ricoh -- please offer a solution. This seems to be a common issue.
Well done!

Could you do a video on your GR settings ? Would love to see that, Cheers !

I was thinking the same, but reading about poor durability put me off completely. Dust issues didn't help as well. I'll stick to my x100V
I have just got one, best camera I have had. Two weeks and I love it. I have a Leica m6 and a hasselblad 501cm, but this camera does it for me.

I understand what you say, because is the same for me. Gr is a lifestyle.
Can’t be more agree. Great Video. Only thing missing is the flip screen like x100v. Maybe on the gr4?

Thanks for the great video... What Daido Moriyama book is that?
Thanks! The book is "Daido Tokyo", half of it is in color and the other half BW
Great video, and shooting philosophy! The mode switching is so useful. What do you think of the IIIx?
Haven’t had a chance to try the X yet 🤷🏻♂️
Superbe vidéo.

Great Video !! I'm about to buy a GT3. Which do you prefer for Street Photographie ? GT3 or GR3 X ?
Haven’t tried the X so I can’t say, GR3 for me all day
Cool looking vacuum machine, what was it?
Smartphone and GR are the way to go in everyday street photography
Great video!
Can you make a video about your printing process from taking a picture to hanging it on the wall? There isn't a lot a resources about printing and framing :/
Been thinking of doing something like that, will add it to the list
How’s the dust on sensor issue?
Haven’t been an issue for me, photos still looking clean
definitely can feel the love of Hong Kong
🖤🖤🖤
Which GR lens protector / cap do you use? Great video as always!
I don’t think it’s an official one, got it from a store in HK
So maybe this has been covered in other videos or by other channel, but how does one setup what you said in the video at time stamp 9:25? Anyone?
Nice Ricoh ad...
Your videos are always so beautiful. Such attention to detail! :) Are you going to give the x version a go?
Thanks! I'll give it a go if someone sends me one haha or until I've saved up enought
Awesome video! What’s the wrist band you use?
its a wrist band from dsptch
Just got one of these straps…how did you fit the string through the Ricoh?
Hi Ivan! Great video. Could you please share what hand strap you're using? That one looks perfect for my use. A link would be very helpful. Thanks :)
6:30 was that film on the griii
Can you share about your printing workflow next time? Thanks!
Will put that on the list =]
What is the music with piano you used please ?
