Using some sequence breaking tech you can skip basically everything and go straight to lower Norfair. It's really difficult and seems just up your alley. There's a playlist on UA-cam of someone else doing it if you want to see some of the tech first (along with the general route).

I thouroughly enjoyed the Super Metroid course. Very good adaptation to MM2. It's been at least 20 years since I've played Super Metroid, and watching this is motivating me to dust off the old SNES. It was one of my favorite games when it came out.

That Yoshi/snowball indicator indicator setup was right. Or as good as it could be. You need to throw first, then jump. Mainly to stop Yoshi's forward momentum so that when you land on the mole, the snowball is there. Otherwise it would be shot too fast. I don't think he could've indicated that better. For that specific trick anyway. Maybe use an arrow for the dismount instead, but then it looks weird. Looks like a cool level.

The first level's canon/Bowser Jr. room does kinda capture the enemy spam of Zelda 1 dungeons.
