► LYRICS
Look through the people and on through the mist
To the hill of the headless cross
Where all witches meet on a night such as this
And the power of darkness is host
They come face to face, eye to eye, soul to soul
With an angel that fell from the sky
Borne on the air are the screams and the wails
Of the masses appointed to die
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the headless cross, at the headless cross
From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
Cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's been no escape from the power of Satan
On a nation so brave and so proud
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the headless cross, at the headless cross
How do you feel when the locks refuse the key
And the master's calling your name?
Does the luck of the charm really keep you from harm?
Does the talisman protect you from pain?
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the headless cross, at the headless cross
From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
Cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's no escaping the power of Satan
For a people so brave and so proud
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
Oh no, oh, oh
Headless cross, at the headless cross
At the headless cross, oh, at the headless cross
Ooh, where will you run to?
At the headless cross
Look to the headless cross

Tony Iommi, godfather of Metal
And my Metal Father also !🖤🖤
@@Mina-M-M Who would that be?
@@batphink2655Ричи Блэкмор
@@krm3345 no. It's classic hard rock. Even iommi says he doesn't see it as metal.
@@SuperLuckao true, that intro riff gives me KISS' Creatures of the Night vibes
I was 13 when I got this album on cassette. It blew my mind. The strong vocals, the evil guitar sound and the powerful drumming. Today, this is still one of my all time favourite albums!
@@creamwobbly Actually you're mistaken, I was told there were 'covert' recording session very late at night with 'Fozzie Bear' who can kick Rupert's gay arse!
I know u got it on cassette....cause there were know more records at that point
I have the same story, a friend lent me a cassette with songs from the album tyr and headless cross was the first acquaintance with black sabbath. And 20 years later, I still love this music.
I discovered this by chance on vinyl after my girlfriend at the time gave me a bunch of vinyls which the Salvation Army had declined to sell.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing, no predetermined ideas of what to expect, it was genuinely some of the overall best music I had ever heard and still is. Just so criminally underrated and forgotten for so long.
I'm glad it's finally being heard again!
I'm glad we're all gathering at the official upload of this era of Sabbath's history 🫡
I'm only becoming aquatinted w/this era of Sabbath . I am loving it ! Been listening since '71 ... Martin era stuff was nowhere to be found , and ofcourse never heard a single note on radio 😮😢😢
@@timothykeenan3705 I discovered martin while looking for Sabbath's music on UA-cam ... I saw this random title " black Sabbath - time machine live - tony martin " and I went "WTF is tony martin" at the time I thought only Ozzy and dio were vocalists for sabbath . I started digging into tony martin's era and stayed with martin's vocals in my heart until this day . All Sabbath's eras have their own energy , unique and versatile as they are , I love 'em all
@@luisrosariocastillo8699 Precisely! I don't look at BS as a whole, but I choose my favourite albums and songs from each era and treat them in their own unigue way.
@@BeniaminKosowski as it should be . True Musicians tend to evolve musically and that's a good thing when it is done properly. I understand how some people would not like other eras of Sabbath's music , but to say they're not good in their own way? ... I'm not sure . Is like everything that they don't like is simply bad music

Tony and Tony, the best!
Tony Martin is a fabulous singer and great lyricist and this is a fantastic album!👍👍 RIP Cozy Powell you are sadly missed!
A great studio singer, no doubt about it... but in concert he was a complete letdown, always singing in the same tone and not able to reach the higher notes...Ozzy could sing out of tune but at least he tried to make justice to the original songs.
One of Sabbath's best albums, one of Sabbath's best lineups.
🤘💯
So underrated, Iommi riff master king.
¡Iommi is Sabbath!
Of course
To me, besides Ozzy and Dio era, this is the best Sabbath album of the Tony Martin era
Tony Martin is the best singer Sabbath ever had, and this has been my favorite Sabbath album since I bought it in 1989.
I love all Sabbath, Tony Martin is my favorite vocalist by far🤘😎
100% Dio is also incredible, but Martin was on another level on this album and TYR. He was a younger, unknown singer with something to prove. This period of Sabbath recorded some of the best vocal tracks in the history of metal, period!
@@Slower-And-Less-Happyagree. BY FAR. Honestly, the other 2 look like clowns in comparison. TM is classy and sophisticated all while delivering epic power. He has it all.
I still remember when I borrowed this vinyl as a teenager, I couldn't stop listening to it and looking at the cover! This song impressed me most of all, to this day I still consider it one of my absolute favourite metal songs 🤘✝🤘
The vocal track is perfect, very well produced and the singer has a really nice tone. The instrumental tracks are also great, the vocals just stand out to me as particularly perfect, rich but with just the right amount of treble at the top.
When we talk about Gods, we always come to "but who created God(s) ?" Well.... Tony created the Gods of Metal, because he is far beyond that. If Tony didn't exist, we all would be listening to something else, for there isn't Metal in a Universe without Mr Iommi
A masterpiece of a track, on a masterpiece of a record!
When my friends heard this the first time, we were blown away!
I particularly loved the interview with Iommi and Powell where he said Tony was playing him a bunch of his collected riff ideas cassettes and Cozy goes ‘That's crap, that's crap, nope, no good, awful…’ lol
That really inspired me to be less precious about my own songwriting and just play what fits the moment, instead of trying to remember why _this_ was worth keeping (if it wasn't just because the tape kept running!)
And yeah, there were far too many who attributed far too much to Powell's playing. He was just exactly the right player at exactly the right time. He wasn't some kind of magician. It's more beautiful to me that four (or three) ordinary blokes got together to write something so spectacular, than making up some metaphysical bull.
Love it! Thanks for cleaning it up!
I like that post.
I wonder if anyone else on here believes as I do that Tony Martin is the greatest Black Sabbath vocalist? Ozzy, Dio, Gillan...all great; Martin, the greatest!
If they ever get around to doing a remake of the first Highlander film, this NEEDS to be the Kurgan’s theme!
Iommi is the Master of Reality!
Absolutely awesome! I love this album. I originally bought this in 1989 when I was 17 on cassette and later on CD recently and I remember after loving "Eternal Idol" , I did think this album took the band one step darker toward the old sound again, more like the DIO era around "Mob Rules" but Tony Martin's voice did and does have its own style though it is very reminiscent of DIO, he sings a lot higher in the studio but live, a lot like DIO. I still haven't gotten the new boxset yet but I can't wait to get it very soon. I still own all of the Tony Martin era stuff on IRS vintage CDs. I was lucky enough to see Sabbath in the Tony Martin era live in Chicago in 1995 on the "Forbidden " tour. I recently just bought from overseas on Ebay and original IRS cassettes from back in the day. Everything else from from Black Sabbath, I have on LP, CD, cassette, and 45s. I own multiple formats of every possible album and all of the super deluxe vinyls, videos, DVDs and boxsets released thus far. I am a lifetime fanatic of Black Sabbath, like a religion to me. I have a collection of bootleg shows in the hundreds. I have seen you live 26 times since I was 8 in 1980 when I first got Greatest Hits from my Uncle Dave(rest his soul). I had first gotten into KISS through my older friend Chacho in a Mexican metal garage band two doors up the street from me in Island Lake IL. Then my Uncle Dave heard I was into metal and he then began giving me birthday and Christmas presents like Black Sabbath Greatest Hits, Heaven And Hell, Ozzys first two solo albums Blizzard and Diary Of A Madman and Jethro Till and soon I discovered Jimi Hendrix and RUSH. After that I was off into full blown hard rock addiction forever. I joined a Columbia Record Club through a rock magazine and before long I had every Sabbath album, every KISS album, and also listened to thrash metal too and classic rock. I joined my first band at 14 singing lead vocals. I also play guitar and write my own music, very Sabbath influenced. Over the years I sang for Nocturnal Doom first, then Witchcross, then Shadowlord, then Ravensthorn, and finally After Forever:Black Sabbath Tribute. We play live all over the Midwest and are based out of Chicago. We plan on recording an original doom album too but currently we do a full set of mostly Ozzy era stuff but also some DIO era. You can hear some of my original music and my Sabbath tribute at my You Tube playlist on my site. at..ua-cam.com/play/PLYyeuYX636i3bzaS7OA6w2IlKWJ-yf6hf.html&si=1Q6YONYtpSbMbh38
I honestly think Headless Cross and Tyr are Black Sabbath's prime, and best music ever. All, Lyrics, Cozy drumming, Tony's unbelievable guitar, Tony Martin and all the rest, they were all outstanding too.
Thanks for sharing, Tony. ❤
my first big show in my life was Headless Cross tour in Hungary, we came from Czechoslovakia with a travel agency. I was only 15 years old! I still love it the same! Masterpiece.
Laurence Cottle did a great job on this album. Knew him when he played with The Fents. Love this album.
Super solid bass, groovy ass hell to!
A classic of the Martin era. I bought this album on the day it was released in 1989 at the age of 14. I then tormented my parents on a summer road trip vacation with it on repeat play in the car... for a couple of weeks! ❤
I love the Dio & Ozzy years, but for some reason I've always slept on this album, and it absolutely fucks!
I was 13 years old when I got this album , my brother-in-law hook me up, after hearing this album I was stuck and picked up my bass guitar and never let go of it….Thank you, Tony 🙏🏻
Godfather of metal Period 🤘🏻☠️🤘🏻
Tony Iommi, the best.
It is long over-due that Black Sabbath put the spotlight back on Tony Martin!
MASTERPIECE!
This is my favorite song of Tony Martin era 🤘
this, when death calls, cross of thornes and the trilogy (Odin's court, tyr, Valhalla) top!
This albun changed my life!!
Amazing! ✞
Tony iommi the Riff Metal Master🤘🏼
RIP Cozy Powell. Hands of God.
I've been a steadfast listener of this glorious album since it's release and love hearing it getting a little shine and polish with a fresh remaster along with the attention it has always deserved
for me this is a master of insanity are the best two songs by sabbath
Great Song❤❤❤80/s like
These drums sound like a bomb or something... incredible... and Tony is my favorite singer!
Used to walk around the cemetery at night listening to this when i was working as a security guard
Cozy Powell - hammer of the gods
@Andrzej-vh3mn This is the closest we got to a Tony/Bonham collaboration. What an amazing drummer.
The heart and soul of Black Sabbath Toni Iommi. More!
It's always a good day when I have Tony's riffs in my ears.
nice to hear the old stuff but would be great to hear some new stuff...we know you have the tapes ;)
Iommi is SABBATH 🔥🔥🔥
No. Clearly it's Tony Martin. Iommi should be very grateful for TM
Super album
Thank you for putting the Tony Martin era on Spotify!!! I work in traffic all day so music is the one good thing. I've kinda forgotten how much I love these songs, since I didn't have them on streaming and lost my iPod with the CD rips... such great music and the remaster is amazing. Listened to it all day, went home and put it on the stereo. I think the neighbours called the cops but my door is locked so they'll have to shoot me to stop the music.
Absolutely loved Martin's vocals, always thought of them as very unique
Welcome to the summer of 2024! 🤘
Whew, this is 10/10 🤘
Personally I was mainly looking forward to the Forbidden remix/remaster and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. I was pretty disappointed by the most recent Sabbath re-release which was Live Evil. The bass mainly sticks out to me on the new version of Forbidden, the bass and drums have a lot more punch. The guitar rips especially on Can't Get Close Enough. There is a lot more "space" in the sound too.
vocalist is very good
My favorite track of Sabbath all time :)
Headless Cross is tops in Tony Martin Era. Very underrated.
Great track, album, lineup!
Masterpiece!!!!
why do i have sone strange obsession with this song
Best pre Goth Metal song!
Огромное спасибо Tony Iommy за подаренные эмоций. Гитара звучит великолепно, очень широкий заполняющий и мистический звук! Желаю Вам творческих успехов и самое главное здоровья!
3:02 this part is really cool that’s not on the video version
Masterpiece 😈
Tonni you should've held on to this vocalist!
It's a shame that all this material was out of print for so long
Easily the best Black Sabbath era
Headless Cross Worcestershire Not far from
Where I used to live Miss Birmingham and
Warwickshire Good Biker Country.
Please buy Headless Cross
Il lavoro al basso fatto da Laurence Cottle su questo disco è qualcosa di fenomenale ❤
Tra l'altro suona il basso fretless. Grandissimo!
Another great accomplishment by the Tony and the band ...I am so impressed with the way Tony has mellowed him s guitar has become through the many years I have followed..1968
I’ve loved this song for years. Amazing vocals and the guitars sound absolutely huge.
Legendary!
Lembrando a primeira vez que eu ouvi essa faixa. Bons tempos. Tenho saudades.
Tony Best of the Best. 🤘🌎🤘
✨Т💫l✨
Man, how happy I am right now 😊
Remaster sounds far better. Great advisement by Mr. Iommi. Way way better.
incredible song... This is one of my favorite songs. I sing this song every day.
This track is missing on the "apple music app" edition .. Best song ever made.. so much feelings!!
COZY POWER, SIR TONY MARTIN and the COURT OF THE HAND OF DOOM \m/
Loud but clear! Although I was hoping for a remaster that is a little less compressed, like the excellent ones that Andy Pierce made for the Deluxe Extended Editions (true remasterpieces with a warm relaxed sound closer to the original LPs in the peak of the Loudness Wars!), I have to recognize that this one brings more clarity and detail to the mix. A matter of personal taste, I guess, and now we can choose... or simply love them both EQally. The songs still rock just like the first time, no doubt about that. The atmosphere of this album is black-magical and it made my day many days and many nights! Celebrating that the Tony Martin years are finally getting the recognition they deserved.
Took a great album and made it even better!
Another epic Song of Black Sabbath ! Great !🎸🎸🎸👍
My favorite Sabbath album, along with 'Heaven and Hell
TM albums r way superior than anything Dio ever did. This is real class and skill not just dio anger. This is WAY sophisticated and takes great skill.
Superb Tony Martin was (dare I say it?) a notch above the legendary Ronnie!
Far superior. He is way more skilled as a vocalist. Delivers way more power than Dio but in a classy sophisticated style rather than Dio angry style. A nicer guy too.bnot aloof like Dio.
Thank you, mr Iommi, for fight for this album. They deserves the same respect than the rest of Sabbath's discography. That's a dream becoming truth. And of course, Headless Cross is one of the 5 best Sabbath's albums.
I was very fortunate as a teenager to be in the company of people that would influence me with this when it first came out. The people outside my circle had no idea, perhaps now it will get the attention and appreciation it deserves. Better late than never as they say... .whoever "they" are. Thank you Mr Iommi 🤘😎❤️
i love this song!! this is the best sabbath song lol by far... martin beats dio and ozzy ha
This was the album when i first heard of Black Sabbath. One of the greatest with Heaven&Hell❤
Sabbath forever 🔥😎🤘
Great album fantastic!!!!🤘🏼🖤🖤🌚🌚🌚🌚
My favorite riff from Black Sabbath is from "into the void" Tony i think the song needs to be reimagined it doesn't get the apritiation it should
❤️🔥🎶🤘🧑🎤 очень красивый голос 💫
gran disco, buenos riffs, batería poderosa, complementada por esa gran voz de Tony, simplemente grandioso
Terrific Two Tony tones!
Esperando TYR en Spotify...

At 3:03 pure magic and therapy for ears. Love that Arabic / Turkish scale used here by Lord Iommi.
We were waiting for it to be uploaded to Spotify, thank you very much Mr. Iommi!!!! Keep rocking
One of the most underrated era and album❤ isn't it?Beside Forbidden every Tony Martin era album is great. For me headless cross and tyr is the best.

when you put your fingers on the strings, it's unique and amazing. I love your work and playing the guitar. I know most of your work and not a little of it.❤️.

Ganhei este LP de aniversário de uma colega de escola quando foi lançado.
