I have been into tubes for a long time.(McIntosh, Heathkit,Pilot,Audio Research,Melos, Counterpoint,etc)....however,they were very expensive.i know! But the low priced Riesling A10 that I took a chance on has impressed me!! Out of the box,the amp looked great, but the tubes that were nicely wrapped, the rectifier tube and an input tube were broken.i happen to have tubes on hand,so I changed out the rectifier tube with a Tungsol(usa). reissued Telefunken EL34's,and nos input tubes. What a difference! Get rid of those chinese tubes asap! Beautiful sounding amp!

I have a set of r-51m speakers I was thinking of getting this and using those. They have a great sensitivity level like 93 or 94db I believe. They aren't as nice as your premier set, but I figure with my turntable going into my preamp, then into this and connect my r-51m klipsch out the back and hope it should be nice.
Dumb question but what are the speaker wire connectors on the back of this amp? Don't look like banana plugs because they have threads.

I love mine also. As far tube rolling I have tried the Tung Sol EL34s and found them to be a bit bright. They may need more burn in though. I am expecting a set of Telefunken EL34TKs this week and am looking forward to hearing those. If you are interested I will report back once those burn in. Telefunken does cryogenically treat the tubes and sells matched pairs. Also, I recommend the Schiit Mani phono pre-amp. It sounds very good. You didn't mention what digital sources you used other than the MAC book. If you use Tidal or Qobuz I highly and I mean HIGHLY recommend you try Audirvana. It can manage both your locally stored media and your streaming media in one interface. The key thing is that it is bit perfect playback and sounds remarkable.

Another great thing (unlike other integrateds) is you can run an "External Preamp" into the rear if you so wish.. This is because this amp is technically NOT an Integrated amp. There are no preamp tubes. It is a 'Power Amp with Passive Volume control' same as Audion ( Single ended amps) or a Pro PA amp to cite another example... Normally you would never plug an external preamp into another preamp but this in this case is okay if you have a favourite preamp. Just plug it into the rca's set the Reisong/ Boyuu to 12 o'clock - 3 O'clock and control the level from your preamp.

Depending on the sensitivity of your speakers, 8wpc can blow out your ears. Speakers like some Klipsch have a sensitivity rating of 100db. At 1 watt. 2 watts would be 103db (at 1meter).. 4 watts, 106db and 8 watts would be about 109db.. think your ears can take? This is all on paper of course.. but high sensitivity speakers need very little power to play extremely loud

I'm running one of the tape monitor line level outputs of the Mitsubishi into one of the line level inputs of the A10. The Mitsubishi does have a pre out which could be used with a power amplifier, but the A10 is an integrated amp (preamp is built in), so we just need a line level source.

Hi there, just like you I listen to tube amps years ago. Now 20 years later I wanted to hear that tube amp again. I bought a Nobsound 6p1to start with. I got it and hooked it up but that 6.5 watt just does not do it. Working in a steel plant for years my hearing just is not there . I have some active speakers that put out 1000 watts and it sounds great. I got on a site that said power + power = destruction so I stopped right there . I got on a site that talked about using a mixer and you can make this happen. The guy showed where to come out of it to the speaker but did not say ant thing about how to hook up the amp. Barenger 802. So do I need the mixer or does the 6.5 watt not matter as much?

You could go directly from a Mac to the A10 using a cable with a 3.5mm jack on one end (connected to the Mac headphone out) and an RCA connection on the other (connected to the A10 aux in), but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Hi, and thanks for VERY interesting reflections to, and recommendations for , the A10!
I own the same amp since 6 weeks, and love it. I would like less forward upper mids
and a little fuller bass when listening to some recordings, so your tip for changing interstage resistors from Phillips 0.22 to Mundorf 0.47 is exceptionally interesting to me.
I must doublecheck with you though, that you mean 0.47 mikro Fahrad, NOT 0.47 milli Fahrad ?
Here in Sweden mF is short for milli Fahrad, and uF is for mikro Fahrad. The stock Phillips are 0.22 uF
I fully agree to your conclusion that people planning to spend 100-200$ on tube rolling, could save that money instead.
Tube rolling does indeed change sound characteristics slightly, BUT only nuances, not the big leaps you may need to take to get rid of a too harsh or forward high frequency range.
I HAVE done extensive tube rolling, and it's fun, but costly, and changes are minor.
I guess your proposed changes in resistor values does a more profound change to the A10.
Another means is to buy a Shiit Audio LOKI external 4 band equalizer, which is very good and rather affordable. Best regards, Magnus, Gothenburg, Sweden

I just DO NOT LIKE SS anymore. These are my studio amps, not my 'real' amps, but hey. If i had never purchased a First Watt amp, and had it sitting next to a Reisong amp, for the cost....Reisong wins hands down. Oh....ONLY after tube and cap changes. Hashimoto's prices have gone up due to the virus, if not, I would put some Hashimoto output trans. in both of these amps (but these transformers are more than the amp itself) :D. @@ipensword You're welcome! I do feel that I left out some 'opinions' of mine regarding my tubes of choice. I feel you may experience the same results since we are using amps from the same builder. So, when I want a warmer and full/round tone I reach for the Gold Lion tubes, especially the driver Gold Lion tubes. If I use Gold Lion output tubes, I almost always use a driver tube like Tung-Sol 6SN7 tubes -which are more neutral to me. On the other hand, when i am craving a neutral sound, I will pop in Shuguang output tubes. By-no-means does this imply using Gold Lions as output or driver tubes make it so warm as to kill detail and richness and air. Violins still very much sound like violins not violas. Maybe this will help:
      1. Warmest sound: Gold Lions in both driver and output positions (for getting laid sound) :D!
      2. Warm sound: Output = Shuguang / Driver = Gold Lion
      3. A nice touch of warmth but leaning towards neutral: Gold Lion = Output / Driver = Shuguang
      4. Neutral: Shuguang = Output / Tung-Sol (for my amps) = Drivers.
      5. I don't care much for the lively, quick and lean 'brighter' sound.
Hope this helps clarify more detailed aspects to my tube choices.
      Happy tube hunting/rolling!

does this amp have a preamp in it as well?..so can i set it up as turntable to this to speakers?...and keep everything analog?

You'll need a phono pre-amp like the Schiit Magni to use a turntable, but speakers can be connected directly to this integrated amp.

@@nadiraudio well el34 you might be better off with kt77s preferred Choice for musicians, you can get solid-state rectifiers that come in a tube, that will give you a stronger bass might be worth swapping that out as well.

I have a Pioneer SA 8500II amplifier. Could I use the A10 with this? I'm a newbie to this tube gear stuff.

The a10 is an integrated tube amp without a pre in or out, so unfortunately wouldn't work with another amp. Schiit Audio makes some good tube hybrid preamps like the Saga + , though, which might be a good starting point to get into tubes.

    IT'S NOT ALL GOOD.
I have to chime in on the A10. I bought one ( $575 canadian), delivered from Amazon / March '23) after seeing several reviews - all pretty positive. My first impressions were NOT good. I found the pros to be 1) its build quality and design and 2) a midrange that has a nice immediacy and almost physical presence like you could scoop up the voice in a butterfly net. It was a new and enjoyable presentation of sound. I planned on using my DAC with it, so put it inline for my assessment.
BUT the cons were many. The lower midrange rise in the unit's voicing is simply too much. It clouds and blurs most elements in this range neutralizing its pro of midrange texture and presence. It's like bad food on a pretty plate. Yes, speakers play an obvious role ( I have M.A. Bronze 7's) but the highs I used to enjoy were rolled off so badly that I questioned if I had blown my tweeters somehow. Occasionally a little sheen would poke through but it felt restrained.
I found the bass embarrassing. Loose, sloppy, some notes resolved and others vanished. It felt incredibly incompetent in this region. Once in a while it was interesting depending on the source but as for THIS bass being THE bass I wanted to live with til I die... not a chance. It had NONE of the grip or punch or even consistency of a solid state.
    THE GOOD NEWS....
The A10 makes a GREAT POWER AMP. It would be ideal if the preamp section could be bypassed but I simply run it full open and use the preamp for control.
So I use a DAC between my CD player and AMC amp. The AMC has wonderfully clean and musical tone controls and shows little difference in the tone-bypass mode in terms of cleanliness. I listen most times around 85-90 db and have tone pots set at about 2 O'clock. This combination is STELLAR. I have the bass grip and tone sweetening (and input switching) from the AMC and the A10 adds back the tactile lead vocals and realistic timbre of the instruments. Detail, air, texture and all the performance subtleties are brought to life. There's no denying the effect of tube-related harmonics.
This set up really accents the PEOPLE and TALENT behind the music. Dynamics, tonal balance and realistic timbre are all there. So in the end I can't say the A10 is a great integrated amp. I think it has considerable deficiencies. I CAN say it can be a STELLAR power amp. 12 total watts or not... it's the closest thing to "musicians in the room" as I've experienced.
I think my only future HiFi purchases will be tubes, just to experiment with different sound signatures.
